EGM is definitely comprehensive. This magazine covers every next-generation system that still has life: Playstation, Nintendo64, and Dreamcast. Recently, they've added coverage for any info pertaining to the Playstation2 and the new Color Game Boy.(The Sega Saturn no longer gets coverage. It's been by replaced by the Dreamcast.) The reviews of games are very fairly balanced. Their system of having four different people rate the games is well executed. While the four people are usually in agreement, there are times when one or two rate a game at the far end of the scale from their co-reviewers. Other features, like the 'Get Some!' accessory and odds&ends pages, add a nice variety to the standard reviews and news. Overall, this is definitely worth the subscription price. If you only want a couple of issues that catch your eye, then this is still a good buy for the price. |
As far as multi platform magazines go, EGM (Electronic gaming monthly)is one o' the best ones. Then again, I think that the single platform magazines like Unofficial Playstation Magazine, or Nintendo Power(okay,Nintendo Power covers both N64 and Gameboy, but still), are alot better. They usually have information faster, and they only have to concentrate on one sytem. But EGM is better than most multi-platform mags. It has 5 person reviews, where as Gamepro only has 1 person reviews. It has alot more packed in it than Tips and Tricks, and out does Next Generation in just about every way I can think of. I kinda like Expert Gamer(formerly EGM2) a little better though. |
