NEWS ARCHIVE FOR SEPTEMBER 1998

The Cartoon Network has made their announcement on the 17 new episodes of "Sailor Moon."  The new episodes will begin airing on Monday, November 30, 1998.  This can only mean that they have planned to finish showing the rest of the "Sailor Moon" series (the episodes with Queen Beryl in them) and then skip the first 13 episodes of the "Sailor Moon R" series (with the aliens Alan and Ann).  Since those 13 episodes have little influence on the actual series, they'll be skipped for now.  Didn't understand what was just explained?  Then head on out to the Guardian Universe to find out a bit more.

Yo.  While searching the web, I crossed a place that had some incredible potential.  It's run by Jeff Harris and he is a member of the Inner Circle.  What is the Inner Circle?  Well, I'm not totally certain, but these guys have an idea brewing and has the possibility to blow wide open.  It a concept known as 'CN2: Toonami.'  See, where there is normal Cartoon Network with it's mostly cartoony programs, CN2 would deal more with the Toonami programming, having more action, more mature subject matter... in a nutshell, more anime programming and movies.  I love the idea.  Head on over and read up a bit more on what the idea deals with and marvel over the cool Toonami ship Jeff was able to create (he puts mine to shame.  Heck, most people would put mine to shame).

The new issue of MiXX'Zine is up.  What, you don't know what Mixx'Zine is?  Good, some of you do know.  Anyway.  for those who haven't been fortunate enough to get it, MiXX 'zine is a manga magazine.  It contains some of the hottest manga, which we in North America would refer to as comics, from Japan.  The best part is, the manga is TRANSLATTED.  It's a great mag that's in its second year of publication and growing stronger all the time.  Go to your local comic store to see if you can find a copy so you can give it a look, y'know, to see if you like it.  If you want, you can even go to their online site and order up a subscription.  No matter what you choose, visit MiXX 'zines' revamped website

MiXX onlineCurrently in the MiXX:  Magic Night Rayearth, Parasyte, Iceblade, Harlem Beat, and the new addition this month is Mobile Suit Gundam:  Blue Destiny.

If you've been watching the Cartoon Network, then you've heard of the "Superfriends."  There are new episodes on the way.  Actually, these are episodes that were previously unreleased.  That means that these were done in the '80, but now they are getting a chance to finally be shown.  If the reports hold true, "Superfriends" will be joining the Toonami block, taking over the "Thundercats" time slot at 4:30pm.  We'll all just have to wait and see

Pokemon is the newest anime to come to America.  There are some things that make this series unusual and interesting.  First of all, the anime is based on the game "Pocket Monster."  It's kinda like Tamagochi, only you can raise any of 150 monsters, then have them battle other opponents monster using special abilities, attacks, and manuvers.  Until the game comes out late this month, I really can't give you any better details.  Blkcloak is working on a site for these creatures, so while it's under construction, you can still get the basic info by going to his
Pokemon Center of America
site.  Give it some  time.

There's alot going on with these sites.  It looks like it's going at a snail's pace, but things are about to get a whole lot more interesting.  In the works is making this site more informative, and I don't mean only Toonami.  Anime is an artform in and of itself, and soon, alot of you will get to see what is out there.  So keep check.  It's gonna be a blast.

There are reports on another new show coming to Toonami, but the title might be familiar to some.  The show is "Superfriends" and will take over the Thundercats time slot on weekdays starting October 5th.  These are new episodes of the Superfriends, so it most likely won't look like the old 80's stuff currently being shown at 3pm ET on the Cartoon Network.  I have a theory on this.  Most likely, the animation will be done in the footsteps of "The New Batman & Superman Adventures" that is shown on the Kids WB, or, if you are familiar with "Batman on Cartoon Network (shows at 6:00PM ET), that works.  That's just a theory, however, so we'll have to wait and see October 5th.

Sailor Moon is going to begin from episode 1 August 31st. This will lead up to the American premier of 17 new episodes, the ones that will conclude the Sailor Moon R series. Can't tell which episodes are part of the Sailor Moon and Sailor R series? Check out the Guardian Universe then and find out .

This has been some news that a new Voltron stroy-line is in the works as reported by Animerica. The new work, Voltron: The Third Dimension, is reported to have computer- computer-generated graphics, much like those seen in series such as Reboot and Beast Wars: Transformers. The North American debut of The Third Dimension is slated for September 19th, and will be shown Saturday mornings. For more on this and other anime news, go to Animerica's news page
