Phoenix is Tezuka's most intellectually challenging experiment. Man's quest throughout the ages for the mythological phoenix, and for immortalit, is used as a framework to analyse the meaning of life. The story converges on the present frm boh the future and the past, and jumps at random from ancient Japanese history to thousands of years in the future.
