The Incident Series: Read First

..........*Sigh* I'm sorry for taking so long in posting this--I now I should have done it sooner. Either way I suppose I should explain a couple of details about the frame I have set for 'The Incident' series (originally this was to be the title of just part 1, but I couldn't think of anything better so now all the story is to be called by that name, but I'm digressing here...), I know some of you have been very confused, to say the least. By the way I better warn you all that I *suck* at writing 'read firsts' Here goes:

.......... For my own peace of mind (and you'll see why eventually) let's assume that Oscar's not 14, but at least 16. She has just recently become captain of the Royal Guard. The last is an important point. Why? Because she's a bit intimidated by the that task, apart from that, she's pretty new to the court and not as familiar with the intrigues (though she's quite aware that they exist having saved Marie-Antoinette before). Her naiveté is prety important for the series.

.......... Speaking of which, it brings me to the second point. What's going on with Marie-Antoinette?

..........Well, she got saved by Oscar recently, but actually does not really remember her--let's call it post traumatic stress, shall we? Either way, she hasn't really tried to befriend Oscar at all. Taking the fact that she doesn't know Oscar, don't the events make a lil' bit of more sense?

..........Third point is the gender issue. Why did some start the rumor that Oscar raped Marie-Antoinette, if everyone knows that Oscar is female? The answer is simple: they don't. Let's say that sure everyone knows that Jarjayes has a daughter--but everyone has only seen Oscar and she doesn't seem like a girl at all. What if no one dared to ask? What if Jarjayes never mentioned Oscar was a girl (though he doesn't anyway)? Just imagine that the court would simply have divided opinions--those who thought Oscar was a girl and those who didn't (and those who were in denial, thinking that it *couldn't* be...).

..........That's it for now. If you have any questions that you would like to see answered here (any points I might have missed...), don't hesitate to email me.

Bye!
