Bua-hahaha-haaaaa!

A Pathologist's Tools

When pathologists study human tissue, we use scalpels and forceps, just like surgeons, only we're not as concerned about blood loss and the maintenance of a sterile field! ;-)

Autopsy Tools Images and Descriptions

We also use light microscopes, electron microscopes, antibodies (immunohistochemistry), DNA probes and flow cytometers.

In a more general sense, a pathologist's tools include a knowledge of how all the diseases seen by each of the other medical and surgical specialties are caused and treated.

Finally, NO, the implement depicted above is NOT part of our armamentarium!

See the tools pathologists used in the past!
