Hearing all about your website on Sunday prompted me to search you out and now I am glad that I did! It was so good to see you and Kayoko... I've always been a Nipponophile (?) [since I was a kid actually; we had missionary friends from there] so I enjoyed the background stuff on the old country lots...

Well done, Runker! I wondered out loud why I wasn't getting much from my regular group of net friends in Japan, and one of them kindly sent me here. So it's Obon! Perhaps you could add a temporary blurb on your Home, advising unknowing ones like me when something major is happening in Japan? I liked your story about speaking English at home with your parents, and the inherent dangers of assimilation. My lil' sis' lives in Portland and my parents are there now. They probably knew about Obon before I did!

Very interesting to see such a varied site available to the North American community. I am hakujin married to J-Canadian and trying to teach my children about their heritage, so I will be back. Did you know there was a Nisei Curling Association? Available to people married to Japanese as well as Nisei etc.

Hello: I enjoyed your website. As yourself, I have strong links to Japan, as my wife is Japanese and I lived there for a total of eight years. My wife, who is new to Canada, will enjoy the links to Kinokuniya and the Japanese shopping center in Seattle. If I have a chance, I will recommend your site to university colleagues in Japan. It is a good reference for Japanese students who want to find out more about Nisei such as yourself as well as the Japanese Canadian experience. Feel free to drop me an e-mail. Regards
