(but am I Japanese?). My grandparents are from Fukue City, Goto Archipelago, Nagasaki Prefecture (paternal) and Tokyo (maternal). My father's family tomb is in Fukue. I never asked my father and my mother how they met-- I just assumed that the only way two people who were from almost opposite ends of the country and working in completely different fields could have gotten together was through an omiai (arranged marriage)! I've heard they met while each was plotting an escape from a Japanese society they considered too constraining. All of my relatives live in Japan. Visit my cousin Taku's homepage ! | |
Early days

I was born in Sagami-ohno City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, and was given the name
"Tadaaki", which means "faithful and bright" in Japanese.
Shortly thereafter, I was brought to North America by parents who were looking for bigger and better things out of life.
The family got a new member during a short stay in Madison, WI, then settled on
Edmonton,
Alberta,
Canada
as a permanent base for reasons related to
my father's work.
