ROTARY 2000: JEWELLERY CREATIVITY WORKSHOPS

FOR PHYSICALLY DISABLED

Old Red Jade on wire work with Red Indian Glass beads and Hematine beads

Especially for this piece of Red Jade, which was given to me by mom and was original from China. Hope that this would be a starting pointing for me and everyone in the class. And this is really funny, I didn't realise that I have interests in this area, not until I started off with the class. Initially I knew, nothing about Jewellery, Beads, Semi-precious stones and etc. But now, I had a better understanding of it and grow to love this Art. From my experience, I feel that one must keep on exploring in life before one will find what they want eventually.

Classes was conducted on every Sunday from 5th Dec(1pm to 5.30pm) at the National Council of Social Service Building, 11 Penang Lane, Singapore 238485, for 10 lessons.

The programme consisted total of 40 hours which divided into 2 parts.
Part I Training in the professional methods of designing and stringing of necklaces and bracelets.
Part II Training in the professional methods of using wire, and weaving when designing and making necklaces, bracelets, earrings, broaches and pins, balls and all other kinds of parts for jewellery pieces.

At the end of the programme, an exhibition sale was held on 14th April 2000 and money from the sale shall be used as "seed money" for a continuing programme, to train another group of physical impaired.

Take this opportunity to, contribute my gratitude to the Rotary Club of Bukit Timah, National Council of Social Service of Singapore, Mrs Tanja Sadow, VSA and all the Rotary volunteers who helped to make this event successful.
