Ranma 1/2 Anything Goes Battle Arena

[3-10-01] After over two years of running this site, although almost never updating it, it's time for me to step down. I'm going to be leaving in less than a week for a year long exchange program, so basically I won't be able to do anything for the site during that time. Even though I could theoretically get back to work on it when I return, I'm not going to keep anyone's hopes up for that long. I never have the time to watch my Ranma tapes any more, and thus, I can never get inspired to sit down and write these battles any longer. Anyway, I am very grateful for those of you who have been there for so long, waiting months on end for the battle updates and coming back all the time to vote. Without you I could have never kept this thing going as long as I did.

I'm going to leave things up on the site as they are now, however, and I'm also extending an offer to you guys out there... If anyone wants to take over this site, and do the Ranma battle concept some justice, I would be happy to turn it over to you. I would really hate to leave the tournament unfinished and leave all the people who submitted their characters hanging, so I hope someone out there will be willing to do the job. If you're considering it, keep in mind that you have to have the HTML skills necessary to update the site, and you have to have the writing ability to make the battles enjoyable to read. Fanfic writing experience is probably the only way I have of judging your writing ability, and HTML experience... well, I'll take your word on it ^_^ Keep in mind that actually running this thing will be a MAJOR time commitment, and it might not always be as fun as it seems.

If no one wants to take over the site, then well... I guess it's the end. Again, I extend the utmost gratitude to the people who made this site what it is. I enjoyed reading your comments on every battle, and it made it fun for me to be constantly surprised by what people thought would be the outcome of each fight, and why. Also, I'm extremely sorry I ran this site like I did, with the half-year waits between battle rotations and such, and I can only hope that you who were waiting for better closure than this will forgive me.

Oh, and one more thing ^_^ I rotated the SF vs. Ranma 1/2 fight for Uncle Milo. The Assault on the Tendo Dojo story is now complete, so take a look here.

[12-15-00] Well, it finally happened. I managed to get the main battle rotated once again. This one is between two manga characters, so unfortunately not everyone is going to have much information about them. I provided character profiles, but be warned that they do contain spoilers. If you want to know about these guys, you'd better check out the translated manga. I have a link in the links page to a manga site, but unfortunately it seems that site has been down for about a week... However, I just found a mirror site on the web, which seems to be working for the time being. Check out volumes 18 and 28 in particular, and also 23 and 32 if you have the time.

On another note, I did a rather radical update of the suggestion page... Well, it's nothing to write home about, but I took out a lot of questions that no one seemed to really have an opinion about, or ones that had been answered pretty much the same every time. Even if you've done the suggestions thing in the past, please do it again, cause I want your input! Thanks.

[12-08-00] The Street Fighter vs. Ranma 1/2 page is updated again. You can check it out here. The new battle is the grand finale to the Assault on the Tendo Dojo series that Uncle Milo has been doing, and this one promises to be exciting! Please check it out, and vote.

On another note, my winter break at school has just started, so I should have more time on my hands than I know what to do with. Since it's been 7 months since I've rotated the main fight, I figure I'll try to rotate that one. I'd like to do the tournament one too, but there haven't been very many votes at all on that fight =( If you haven't taken a look at it yet, please do! The creators of the original characters worked really hard, and it would suck to just ignore their fights.

[10-28-00] Hello everyone! Again, it's been forever, but I've managed against all odds to update the Original Character battle. I really hope that some of you out there haven't completely lost interest due to my delays, but if you have, I can only say I'm sorry ;_; School has been somewhat rough on me this year, and since I'm going on a YEAR-LONG exchange program starting next spring, I really have to make sure that my grades stay up, and that I'm learning all I need to learn to get ready for it. However, I'm sure none of you came to this site to hear me make excuses, so if you're looking for the tourney fight, go here! Thanks.

Deep within the jungles of China, a beautiful young woman was walking back to her villiage with a load of food. She was all alone, which was usually fine, but this day was an exception. Suddenly, a bear came charging straight at her roaring loudly, and looking generally viscious and deadly. She turned away and started to run, only to see a large and powerful tiger charging at her from the other direction. She stood there, paralyzed with fear and utterly unable to move...

Suddenly, two men jumped out of nowhere, one of them knocking out the bear with a single punch, and the other kicking the tiger in the side of the head, and knocking it unconscious. Both of the men dusted their hands off, and turned to look at the woman they'd saved, taking note of her exceptional beauty.

The woman, still somewhat shaken, but feeling very happy to be alive, said, "Oh, thank you so much. I don't know what I would have done without your help..." Both men smiled proudly. She went on, "I've never felt so scared in my life, but I'm so happy now that you're here."

The two young men blushed a bit, hearing words like that from the woman. They both wanted to say something to her, to comfort her, but each felt too shy to speak. She noticed the pause, and then looked back and forth between them, saying, "Please, give me your name... both of you...."

At this point, they both said, "Both of you?" Looking around, the men noticed each other, having believed up to that point that they had been alone with the Chinese girl. Neither was too happy to have the intimate moment spoiled.

The first to speak was the one who had taken out the tiger. He was somewhat effeminate looking, but in a way that made him look attractive. The pantyhose sash that he wore over his shoulder didn't make him appear any less effeminate either. He said to the other guy, "We appreciate your help, but I can assist her from here. Please don't worry about it."

The other young man, dressed in a black tank top and camouflaged army-style pants, looked the other guy over a moment, and then said, "Oh no, don't be silly. I'll help this young woman get where she wants to go, you can continue on your way." Neither of their tones sounded very sincere.

The pantyhouse man said, "I must insist. I REALLY wouldn't want to inconvenience you..."

The camouflage wearing guy retorted, "No, I'll be fine, believe me. It's you that I'm worried about." Their conversation had just turned from attempts to get rid of each other to thinly veiled threats of violence. The pantyhouse man didn't like this, and said, "If you know what's good for you, you'll take my generous offer!"

"What did you call me, you moron? I was here first, and anyway, any weakling can beat up a bear."

As all this was going on, the Chinese girl just sweatdropped, and quietly walked away as they argued.

The pantyhose man took a moment to calm himself down now that the challenge had been laid. He said, "So... it's a fight you want, is it? Well, I'll be more than happy to give you one. However, I can't promise that I'll leave you in one piece." He started chuckling ominously as thunder clouds roared above, threatening rain.

The other man gave a 'hmph' and cracked his knuckles. He said, "I don't know who you are, but you're not going to get any mercy from me. I, Ryuu Kumon, will send you to your maker!" They stared at each other for a moment, ready to fight, Ryuu looking ready and determined, and the Pantyhose man looking quite smug as the sky looked very dark and rain seemed imminent.

[NOTE: Assume that Ryuu will use his Yamasenken at some point in this fight... If he didn't, it wouldn't be quite as balanced as I had intended it to be, since we really have no idea how strong Ryuu is without the Yamasenken techniques.]
