Chen-Shan Chin
Question 1: What is your character's name?
Chen-Shan Chin
Question 2: Character's gender:
Male
Question 3: Character's age:
17
Question 4: Character's cursed form, and reason for curse:
No Jusenkyo curse
Question 5: Character's Martial Arts Style:
Freestyle Fast-Food Martial Arts. This style is based heavily on speed, and control over an endless supply of weaponry. His fast food skills are complimented by rudimentary Kung Fu, although these skills aren't as developed.
Question 6: A general description of the character:
Chen-Shan Chin is a typical looking young man, with short black hair, and dark colored eyes. Since he has very little free time between school and his job, he is almost always dressed in one of two outfits. When at school, he wears his Kolhitz High uniform, which is a grey colored western-style suit. It has a sport coat and matching slacks, with a white, short sleeved undershirt beneath it. At work, he wears the Burger Land employee uniform, which consists of a pair of black slacks, slip resistant tennis shoes, a maroon shirt with beige horizontal stripes. In addition to this, he has a maroon colored hat with the words "Burger Land" written on the front, and a name tag on his shirt that reads "Chin." In a tournament setting, he would be more likely to wear his work clothing, since he'd be fighting during his break.
Personality wise, he is a very stressed out and rather neurotic person, very prone to letting anger get the better of him during a fight. During battles, he usually tries to humiliate his opponent rather than just knocking them out. Since most of his attacks are food based, he makes a point of billing his enemies for what he uses against them. He speaks Mandarin Chinese fluently, but his Japanese is rather stiff and formal, and spoken with a distinct Chinese accent. Chen is a fairly intelligent young man as a result of all of his studying, although he rarely uses his head when fighting because of his tendency to get angry. Physically, he is very quick, able to cook up an entire fast food meal in mere seconds. On the other hand, he isn't very strong at all, having no spare time to train in the art. In fights, he uses his weaponry and his speed as his greatest allies, usually trying to stay at a distance and wear down his opponent so he can win without having to trade punches.
Question 7: The character's history:
Chen is a young student from mainland China who came to Japan as part of a high school exchange program. His parents refused to give him any sort of financial assistance, so in order to fund his education he took the first job he could get. He was hired on by a fast food restaurant known as Burger Land, part of a gigantic American franchise. The managers of this Burger Land did everything in their power to make a profit, often at the employees' expense. One of their methods would be to get rid of their less productive workers, giving the ones that remained a bigger work load for the same pay. Chen had been training in the martial arts ever since he was a child, so compared to his fellow employees, he was very fast and in the eyes of the management, productive. Since he could not afford to lose his job, he trained hard every day to improve his speed and precision. As time went on, more and more of the workers at Burger Land were fired, and in the end, only he was left.
Spending all of his waking time working at Burger Land, or attending classes at the school he attended, Kolhotz High, he started to get a little bit stressed out. Any time customers at his store would complain about their food, or leave a mess at their table, Chen-Shan would snap. Using his superior speed and all the utensils at his disposal, he would not only beat his unruly customers up, but he would also make sure they payed for their meals. These instances don't happen very often, however, and the customers keep coming back because of Chen-Shan's incredibly quick service.
As far as the Ranma 1/2 cast goes, the only ones he's ever met are Azusa and Midako, who he attends school with. With Mikado, he has an uneasy truce of sorts. The two of them have never fought seriously, their respective reputations giving them adequate reason to be wary of the other. They're not friends by any means, though, Chen thinking Mikado to be an arrogant jerk. This is nothing compared to what he thinks of Azusa, however, since she has on several occasions stolen utensils and food from his restaurant. On many occasions, he has given her bills for what she's stolen, but Azusa just took them and gave them French names. He has sworn vengeance on her, but because of his busy schedule he's never had time to pursue it.
Question 8: Special Moves:
Chen-Shan's style, much like Kodachi's, depends heavily on his infinate supply of weapons. The ones he uses most frequently are frozen hamburger shuriken, a large wet mop, a pair of chicken tongs which he mainly uses to grab on to opponent's weaponry and disarm them, pepper shaker bombs much like Ukyou's, and catsup packets he throws on the floor to make slippery footing. Besides all of this he as the following special moves:
Condiment Hurricane: Chen-Shan produces squeeze bottles full of mustard and catsup, and holds one of them in each hand. In a move reminiscent of Mikado's dance of death, he spins around quickly on one foot while squeezing the bottles. The opponent is buffeted by these high-speed condiments, and usually coated in them. Chen is able to stop his spin on a dime, and if the move is successful, his opponent is wide open.
Mop-Scum Tsunami: When executing this move, Chen first produces his mop and bucket full of dirty water. Dipping the end of the mop into the bucket very quickly, he saturates the end of it, and then pulls it out and sweeps it across the floor in a broad arc. The obscene amount of water on the mop's end forms a miniature tsunami of greasy, dirty water. This move will not only do damage when the water slams his opponent to the ground hard, it also disguists them a great deal.
Chi-Ken: This move is mostly for show. Tales of Nerima martial artists and their ability to throw chi blasts at will has given everyone in the area a healthy fear of getting in one of these blast's way. When Chen-Shan says, "Chi-Ken" his opponents usually scream and run, or prepare to dodge. However, the actual attack is nothing spectacular. He produces his chicken tongs and in a lightning quick move, throws a chicken fillet directly into his opponent's face.
Burger Land Final Attack: Chen usually only does this move when his opponent is already on the verge of being knocked unconscious. He jumps high into the air on a course directly toward his opponent, and when he eclipses the sun high in the sky at the apex of his jump, he calls out his attack. He pulls out a bill for all of the food he's used in the fight, and slaps it on their forehead when he gets in range, and in most cases, knocks his enemy out.
This character is not in a fanfic, but the following battle scene was submitted by his creator:
Chen-Shan Chin manned his cash register at Burger Land, as he had been doing every Monday through Saturday for the last six months. He drummed his fingers impatiently on the counter in front of him as one of his customers ordered their meal. It always annoyed him that their orders took much longer than it ever did for him to actually make the food. Of course, few in the world could prepare meals as quickly as himself. He nodded his head absently as the young man rattled off each item in his order. He studied the young man, trying to make some productive use of his time, but this ended up putting him in more of a bad mood than he was in before.
'I recognize him... He's the leader of the Azusa fan club. I really, REALLY hate Azusa. I hate her, and I will see that vengeance is served. Oh yes, I will. She will regret the day she ever crossed me!' Chen-Shan thought all of this to himself, a twisted, evil looking grin on his face.
The leader of Azusa's club didn't notice this, and continued, "Uh... And I'll have an order of large fries... no, wait, make that a regular. And uh..." He looked up at the menu for the sixteenth time in this conversation, and then said, "Oh, wait, I can get that as a combo, right?" He looked to Chen-Shan, who was staring off at nothing in particular and chuckling to himself. He said, "Excuse me..?"
Chin snapped out of his daydreams of beating poor little Azusa senseless, and said, "Right, that's a large fry and 2 cheezy burgers." He left the register in a flash, and went to the grill, throwing down two pieces of frozen beef and grilling them in a matter of seconds (in a very Ukyou-esque fashion). He put the cooked meat patties onto their buns, quickly gave both burgers their condiments, and wrapped them up. A couple of seconds later, Chen-Shan handed a to-go bag to the young man wearing a pink colored jacket.
The fan club president just payed for the meal and left, knowing that he didn't get what he ordered. Still, from what he'd heard from some of the kids at school, he'd gotten off lucky.
Meanwhile, Chen-Shan sighed blissfully. That Azusa fanboy was the last of his customers in the after school rush. He was looking forward to a bit of relaxation before the dinner rush started up. He went out into the main dining area and collected his trays. He figured it would take 15 seconds or so to wipe off the entire stack, and then he could take a break. However, just before he could start wiping trays, he caught sight of something that made his right eye twitch several times.
It was Mikado Sanzenin walking in through the restaurant doors followed by at least twenty of his groupie girls. Every time Mikado came in and ordered something, all of the girls would have to order something too just so they could have the privelage of eating in his presence.
Mikado walked up and looked at the menu as all of the girls looked at him expectantly. He said, "Please, I insist that you ladies order before me." Each one of them almost swooned at Mikado's words, and they moves up to the front of the line.
Chen-Shan did his best to stay cool, saying in his formal Japanese, "How may I serve you?" Beneath the exterior, however, he was not a very happy young man. He watched as the girl looked up to the menu, biting her lip and looking helpless and confused.
She turned around and said, "What are you having, Mikkie?" The rest of the girls turned and looked at him, as though asking the same question.
Mikado ran a comb through his hair, and said, "I think I'm going to have a number 5 combo, with an orange soda..." As soon as the words were out of his mouth, the group of girls all told Chen that they wanted to get a number 5 with orange soda as well.
The young fast food employee did a quick head count, and then said to himself, "23 number 5s on their way." He went to the grill and prepared each one of the burger, fry, and soda combinations before placing 23 trays on the counter. He said, "That will be 700 yen each, please." As they started to go through their purses for the money, Mikado said something that no fast food employee ever wants to hear.
He said, "You know what? I changed my mind. I want an order of chicken fingers, onion rings, and a chocolate milkshake." The girls looked crestfallen... It was too late for them to order what he had. On the other hand, Chen-Shan Chin looked pissed.
He said, "I'm sorry, but your meal has already been prepared. So sorry."
Mikado retorted, "No, I never ordered. They did. I just said what I thought I was going to have. Now, can I have what I ordered?"
Chen-Shan didn't have enough mastery of Japanese to be rude, and could only say, "So sorry. I can't make more. That will be 700 yen."
Mikado shook his head, and started to walk toward the door. This was the final straw. In a flash, Chen jumped over the counter and stood between Sanzenin and the door. He said again, with an unhappy look on his face, "That will be 700 yen."
Mikado chuckled, and pulled two in line skate attachments out of his schoolbag. He put one of them on each of his shoes, and then said, "If that's your way of issuing me a challenge, then I accept. It's time you learned respect for your betters, peasant."
Mikado skated back a couple of meters, putting some space between himself and his opponent before saying, "You want your 700 yen? Come get it."
Chen-Shan said in his formal Japanese, "It will be my pleasure." He produced several frozen beef patties and started to throw them at Mikado as he charged. Mikado started skating right toward Chen and into the path of the oncoming frozen burgers. He spun and weaved around each one of the projectiles, earning, 'Oooooh's and 'Aaaah's from the crowd of girls who were cheering Mikado on.
'So much for home court advantage' Chen thought to himself as the two young men continued charging at one another. He pulled out a pair of tongs as Mikado closed within striking distance. The skater spun around, an elbow strike aimed at the side of Chen-Shan's head. Chen reacted at the last possible moment, grabbing Mikado's elbow with the tongs. Mikado brought up his knee, aiming it at his opponent's gut, but he was blocked by the fast food martial artist's quick hand. The tong hold on his elbow was released ever-so-slightly, however, allowing him the chance to push off and create some distance.
Sanzenin came to a stop, and ran a comb through his hair, "I see you have some skill. I'll have to get serious." The crowd looked nervous. It was rare that Mikado had difficulty with any opponent. Still, their love for him could never fail, and they started to chant, "Go! Go! Mi-ka-do!" The skater smiled, and charged in at his opponent for a second time.
Chen said, "Do you learn nothing? I will now teach you a lesson." He pulled out a mop, and wielded it much like someone would wield a quarterstaff. Mikado qiuckly closed the distance and started throwing quick punch after quick punch. Chen-Shan blocked every one of the punches with the wooden handle of the mop, and looked as though he could keep on doing it until he wore Sanzenin out.
However, he didn't have mental stability or patience on his side. The chanting girls, and all of the food which was getting cold caused his ki to boil right over. He shouted out, "BE QUIET!" And swung the mop with decent strength at the male half of the golden pair.
Mikado was no slouch, and ducked under the sloppy strike. Chen was overextended, and didn't have the strength to stop his mop swing in time to block Mikado's incoming punches. He was slammed in the gut a number of times, the cheers of the crowd raising in volume by at least a factor of 10. He managed to bring his mop back and start blocking again before Mikado could do enough to put him on the floor.
"Enough defensive. Time for offensive." He said as he started throwing kicks at the same time he was blocking Mikado's strikes. All this time working several different positions in the restaurant at once had taught him to be good at doing more than one thing at a time. Mikado was now on the defensive, but he wasn't fast enough to block all of the kicks. A follow up strike with the rounded end of the mop handle directly to his sternum sent the skater rolling backwards, but he was good enough on his feet not to fall.
Mikado gritted his teeth, now losing his cool just as his opponent had. He said, "I hate using this move on an amateur, but..." He was interrupted as Chen-Shan quickly dipped the end of the mop into a bucket full of dirty water.
The fast food employee shouted, "Mop Scum Tsunami!" He pulled the mop out of the bucket, the end saturated with the greasy water, and he slid the end of it along the ground in an arc in front of him. A wave of this nasty water formed, raising to about 5 feet in height as it headed toward Mikado and his fans.
Mikado decided that his dance of death would just have to wait. As the girls behind him screamed in terror, he leapt high into the air over the wave. He landed on the other side, in relative safety, but he found it very difficult to keep his footing on the slippery tile. Chen-Shan, however, was wearing his slip resistant shoes. Mikado stood there, keeping his footing as best he could as he heard the screams of his crowd behind him being hit by the tsunami.
Suprisingly, Mikado said, "That was 700 yen, right?" He pulled the appropriate amount of cash from his pocket, and handed it over to his opponent. He had no desire to risk an injury beating the snot out of this pompus little punk. He could wait for the opportunity to avenge himself, and his groupies were too busy being disgusted by being coated with greasy water to even notice what was going on.
Chen-Shan gave an arrogant smirk, and accepted the cash, figuring Sanzenin has just realized he was outmatched. He gave a bow, and said, "Thank you, come again."
