Ranma 1/2 Anything Goes Battle Arena

The Setting:

    "I've finally worked up the courage to ask Ranma on a date." Ukyou thought to herself as she wrote the message on her okonomiyaki using her patented special sauce. "With love, Ukyou." she said aloud as she finished the message. Before she had the chance to box her okonomiyaki date invitation for delivery, the dinner rush crowd entered the restaurant and was ready to be served.

    "How will I get this to Ranma while it's still good?" Ukyou wondered until she spotted a familiar face. "Hey sugar, you're on your way to the Tendo Dojo, right?"

    Ryouga Hibiki was surprised to hear a familiar voice, especially when he thought he was still in Osaka, "Huh? Oh, hi Ukyou... Yes I'm on my way to the Tendo Dojo, but I..."

    Ukyou interrupted him, "Good, good. Now, take this and give it to Ranma when you get there, ok?"

    "Sure, but I don't know..." Ryouga tried to protest, but he was pushed out the restaurant door.

    "Now get going!" Ukyou said before going back into the store.

    "But... but..." Ryouga stammered to no one, then turned and started walking off, "Where is the Tendo Dojo?"

    Later, Kodachi was jumping from rooftop to rooftop in Nerima, "Ranma darling, where are you?" She stopped suddenly as she noticed someone familiar, "That's one of Ranma's friends, is it not? Maybe he can tell me where my darling Ranma is." She leapt and bounded toward Ryouga, unaware that someone had inconveniently discarded a banana peel where she was about to make her dramatic final leap from. Ryouga was taken by surprise as Kodachi stumbled right into his arms, causing him to drop the okonomiyaki. Needless to say, Ryouga wasn't used to having girls dressed in tight fitting leotards in his arms, and also needless to say, he passed out with a nosebleed, landing on part of the message he was carrying.

    "It seems I've hurt him... Oh well. But what's this?" Kodachi said as she picked up the okonomiyaki and read the message out loud, "To my one true love, I've finally mustered the courage to ask you on a date, and I hope you won't disappoint me. Please meet me in the park, near the fountain, at five o'clock tomorrow, Love... Oh, the name has been smashed, but no doubt it is from my dear, dear Ranma." Kodachi's eyes sparkled that moment more than they had ever sparkled before.

    The next afternoon, Ukyou strolled through the park on her way the the fountain, dressed in her traditional chef's outfit, complete with battle spatula and a bright smile on her face. From the other direction, Kodachi also walked toward the fountain dressed in her gymnastics leotard with a bouquet of black roses.

    They both reached the fountain at exactly 5:00 pm, and no one else was around.

    Kodachi was the first to speak, "You're that wretched chef girl who claims to be Ranma's fiancé, aren't you? No doubt that you've come to sabotage my date with him, you wicked, wicked girl!"

    "YOUR date with Ranma? I don't think so. I'm not going to let you ruin what could be the happiest day of my life." Ukyou replied.

    "I'd like to see you try and stop me!" Kodachi said as she readied her ribbon.

    "With pleasure." Ukyou said as she readied her combat spatula.

 Commentary:

 Alex Small:
    Ukyou will be the victor. Kodachi's greatest strength is her cheating and breaking the rules. Since there aren't any rhythmic gymnastic regulations, Kodachi won't be able to fight an opponent who HAS to use tools to attack, and without any rules to break, she can't really cheat! She still has the ribbon and poisons, which are powerful, but Ukyou has the battle spatula, the mini-spatulas, and all sorts of food weapons at her disposal, while Kodachi won't have as many weapons as she does in the ring.

Frank Sanchez:
    Kodachi has too many weapons to use, while Ukyou does not. Ukyou 's only distance weapons are mini-spatulae, while Kodachi has plenty at her disposal.

Justicar:
    [Kodachi] Reason#1 She is far more agile and quicker than Ukyo.
    #2 She is skilled with more weapons.
    #3 She's unorthodox and demented.
    #4 She'll cheat if she needs to do so.

Wong Si Yuan/The RanMaFan:
     [Ukyou] She's got that huge spatula that can shield against most of Kodachi's attacks. If that doesn't work, shuriken-spatulas work. She's probably got more skill than Kodachi ever will in fighting... dirty or not. (Flour bombs anyone? ^_^) Kodachi spends too much time laughing and talking to be effective in any fight outside a ring.

Derek Denny:
    Kodachi would win.  She is able to carry on a long fight, where as Ukyo (at least according to what I've read in the manga) isn't used to long, drawn-out battles.  Also, where Ukyo would probably use her cooking supplies to do battle, Kodachi would use anything she could get her ribbon wrapped around, including using Ukyo's own weapons against her.  It's too bad, really.  I like Ukyo a lot more than Kodachi, but I just don't think she could cut it ^_^;

Blade:
    Quite simple.  Ukyou is BETTER than Kodachi, by a large margin. Kodachi had trouble with Akane, while Ukyou can match Shampoo. Plus, Ukyou's stopped Kodachi's attacks with her BARE HANDS. Imagine what she'll do to her with weapons.

The Fight:

     "If you think you've got a chance of beating me, you're sorely mistaken dear. Once I defeat you, Ranma will be all mine. Ohohohohohohohohohoho!" Kodachi laughed. "I, the Black Rose Kodachi Kunou, will remove any obstacles to my happiness."

    Ukyou rolled her eyes, "Enough talking... Let's fight!" She quickly charged forward and took a swing with her battle spatula. Kodachi jumped high into the air to avoid the attack, and quickly countered with a ribbon strike. Ukyou barely managed to recover from her swing in time to block the ribbon.

    "How do you expect to hit me with such a clumsy weapon? How ridiculous, This will be over in no time." Kodachi taunted. Ukyou growled and ran again at Kodachi, taking a more careful swing this time. Kodachi dodged the attack by doing a backflip just for show, but at the same time Ukyou quickly pulled several mini-spatulas off of her bandolier and flung them at her enemy like shuriken.

    Kodachi was taken by surprise when she landed as the first spatula grazed her and tore part of her leotard. She nimbly evaded the rest of the projectiles, and lashed out with her ribbon, a scowl on her face. Ukyou swatted the ribbon away with the flat of her larger spatula, and smiled confidently at her opponent, "It's not wise to underestimate me."

    "You dare ruin the uniform of the rising star of Martial Arts Rhythmic Gymnastics!? You won't fool me with that attack again." Kodachi said in a slightly less calm voice than before. "Here, take these!" She threw the bouquet of black roses she had been carrying at Ukyou, who again blocked with her spatula. When the bouquet was smashed, a cloud of poison gas quickly spread around Ukyou. The okonomiyaki chef ran out of the cloud as quickly as she could to avoid being paralyzed. Kodachi took the opportunity to grab a park bench with her ribbon and fling it at Ukyou. The intended target saw it coming and tried to block with her spatula, but since she wasn't ready for such a large object, she was thrown off her feet and onto the grass.

    Ukyou stood up slightly fazed, and with a look of determination on her face, "So that's how its going to be, eh?" Ukyou threw a pepper shaker at Kodachi, and before the gymnast could swat it away with her ribbon, Ukyou shattered it with a throwing spatula. Kodachi laughed, and then began twirling her ribbon, which acted like a fan and blew all of the pepper back at its origin. Ukyou coughed as the pepper cloud blew past her, but managed to escape it before she would begin to sneeze.

    "Consider the match over." Kodachi smiled as she wrapped the ribbon around Ukyou's spatula and pulled it from her hands before she could react. Ukyou threw more mini-spatulas, but the ribbon blocked every one. Kodachi could only respond with "Ohohohohohohohohohoho!"

    'That ribbon can stop any one of my attacks, and now I don't have my combat spatula... But this isn't over yet. Not by a long shot.' Ukyou thought to herself. Ukyou threw another volley of spatula shuriken, then quickly charged her opponent. Kodachi laughed again as she deflected the weapons, but before she could defend herself she received a cooked okonomiyaki in the face courtesy of Ukyou. As Kodachi peeled the hot foodstuff from her face, Ukyou gave her a powerful uppercut to the chin, causing the gymnast to be propelled into the air and into the park's fountain.

    Ukyou smiled and walked over to the place where her spatula had been tossed, confident that she had defeated Kodachi. Unfortunately for her, however, Kodachi rose out of the water with a VERY angry expression on her face. 'That lower class cooking wench DARES to strike a Kunou? No punishment is cruel enough to avenge this crime, I Kodachi Kunou will destroy her!" Kodachi thought as she produced a gymnastics ball, and threw it straight at the back of Ukyou's head before jumping high into the air to perform a finishing move.

    Ukyou was knocked face first onto the grass. From above she heard, "Ukyou Kuonji, prepare to die!!" As Kodachi descended toward her prey with a huge wooden mallet in hand, Ukyou made a quick grab for her spatula, shouting, "This is for Ranchan!" The battle cries of both young ladies could be heard across Nerima as the final blow was delivered.

    Kodachi was caught completely be surprise as the titanic spatula was thrust into her abdomen. The mallet slipped from her fingers and landed harmlessly on the grass. "Ran... ma... sama...." The Black Rose gasped as she slumped to the ground, unconscious. Ukyou stood up and wiped the sweat and dirt from her face. She suddenly panicked, "Oh no! I can't go out on a date with Ranchan with my clothes looking like this! I hope he won't be too angry if I go home and change first..."
