Ranma 1/2 Anything Goes Battle Arena
The Setting:
It was a beautiful sunny day in Nerima as Mikado Sanzenin skated down the sidewalks on his rollerblades. "It feels so good to get away from the routine... to get away from Azusa." Mikado remembered with a frown how his partner Azusa had caused the Golden Pair of Martial Arts Figure Skating to lose its only match in an otherwise perfect high-school career. That was all in the past, however, as the Golden Pair had gone on to win many other competitions, and Mikado had gone on to kiss many other girls.
"I beileve the number is 4999 girls now." Mikado said to himself as he skated around and through the crowds of people on the sidewalk. "Just one more girl and I will have kissed five thousand, each more beautiful than the last." He stopped abruptly as he spotted something very interesting.
Meanwhile, Tatewaki Kunou walked down the streets of Nerima deep in thought, "Akane Tendo or the Pig Tailed Girl? However will I choose between them? How could I deny either of them my love?" He tightened his grip on his bokken, "I need a sign, guidance from the heavens so that I may decide who is most worthy of my love!" Kunou stopped suddenly as something caught his eye.
Akane Tendo walked across the courtyard of the neighborhood shopping mall on her way to the pharmacy, "Ranma is such a lazy jerk. Why do I have to get medicine for him every time he supposedly gets sick from my cooking? It can't be that bad... honestly. When I get home I'm gonna..."
"Akane Tendo!" shouted two voices from opposite directions. From one direction ran Kunou, his arms outstretched. From the other, Mikado skated while quickly combing his hair. Akane groaned "Not another one of THESE days..."
Mikado was the first to arrive. He gracefully came to a stop and took Akane in his arms. "Ah, if it isn't the fair Miss Tendo. I hope you will allow me the honor of giving you a kiss..." He didn't wait for a reply, and quickly went in for the kiss before Akane could protest. Suddenly, a wooden sword was placed in his path, which allowed Akane to break from his embrace.
"What manner of pervert are you, who would force yourself on my love? I, Tatewaki Kunou, will bring you to justice!"
"I was simply allowing Akane the honor of being the 5000th girl I've kissed. If you wish to deny her that honor, then I accept your challenge!"
Akane took the opportunity to escape the scene while Mikado and
Kunou prepared to do battle.
Commentary:
Blade:
I recognize most people will probably pick Mikado, but i have to go
with bokken-boy. He gets a lot better in the series, whereas Mikado is a one-shot, whose
practice can't be measured. Plus, even with rollerblades he's out of his element, on dry
ground and without his partner. Besides, Kunou generally fights better when Akane is
directly concerned. ;p
nagami:
well, Mikado is on his skates, and he's pretty quick and
graceful with them on. hey, he defeated 100 guys with hockey sticks, didn't he? (I
know Azusa helped)
Aaron:
Kuno sucks and Midako really deserve that kiss after he got
pulped by Ranma the last time.
Wade Tritschler:
Well, they're both stupid, so no one gains a brains advantage.
That not against Kuno, he's much better off. He's decently trained, and can [beat]
Ranma on occasion on this turf. Mikado is really out of his element here so Kuno will
prevail, at least marginally.
Andy Wennerst:
Kuno would win because he's more motivated. Mikado doesn't really love
Akane, all he wants is a kiss. Kuno on the other hand is trying to prove his love. Of
course, if Ranma-chan showed up, Kuno might get distracted.
ryouga12:
I prefer neither, as both will probably knoch each other out or die
from boredom from their speeches.
The Fight:
"Before we fight, there's something you should know." Midako said, "You have absolutely no chance of defeating the rising star of the Martial Arts Figure Skating world. For your own sake, I suggest you leave quietly while you're still breathing."
"The great Tatewaki Kunou backs down to no man! You will live to regret that you ever dared challenge the Blue Thunder of Furinkan High!" Kunou said as thunder rumbled in the distance. He pointed his bokken at Midako, "The vengeance of the heavens will surely crush you like the insect you are! Prepare to be punished!"
Mikado smiled, "Your threats are amusing. You almost..."
"Hey, would you shut up and fight already?!" Someone watching from a small crowd that had gathered shouted. Both Mikado and Kunou looked slightly embarrassed, then turned to face each other. The Blue Thunder was the first to act, thrusting his bokken forward. Mikado gracefully dodged by side-skating the strike, then quickly skated forward giving the kendoist a punch to the gut. Mikado skated past then turned to face his opponent, smiling.
Kunou turned around and smiled, "You may have speed, but your blows lack strength." Mikado skated toward Tatewaki, preparing to inflict more damage. Kunou jabbed with his bokken at Mikado's throat, but the skater moved ever-so-slightly so that the wodden katana missed the side of his neck by a few centimeters. Mikado skated in close and gave the Blue Thunder as fierce an uppercut as he could manage, then gracefully skated past, turned, and punched him again in the kidney. Kunou turned and swung his bokken, but Mikado ducked. Mikado countered with a kick aimed at Kunou's head, but the kendoist blocked with his sword, then pushed the skater back.
Kunou grabbed his abdomen on the side that he had been kidney punched and grimaced. Mikado laughed, "You can't even touch me. How do you expect to defeat me now?" Mikado grunted as he suddenly felt pain in the side of his neck, "What the... you never even touched me..."
Kunou stood up straight, and faced his opponent, "Enough of this, it's time to finish you off." He took in a deep breath, then charged towards Mikado with a yell of "Strike, strike, strike.." jabbing his bokken at his enemy over and over again with such speed that it appeared as though he were attacking with several swords at once. Mikado desperately backstepped on his skates to avoid being hit by the bokken, but the air pushed by the attack was powerful enough to pummel him and send him to the ground on his back.
"The battle is mine." Kunou said as the crowd of watchers applauded. Mikado groaned, but slowly began to rise to his feet.
"It takes more than that to defeat me. Prepare yourself, for the Dance of Death!" Mikado said with effort. The skater stood on the tip of one of his skates, and began to spin, gaining more and more momentum. The whirlwind effect of his spinning began to pull on Kunou, forcing the kendoist to slowly slide toward Mikado.
Kunou pointed his bokken at Mikado and said, "You dare presume that the great Tatewaki Kunou can be defeated by a dance? You are sadly mistaken, fool, for I will... hey!" Kunou tried to grab his bokken, but it slipped from his fingers and flew into the whirlwind. Kunou planted his feet and tried to stop his skid towards Mikado, but was unsuccessful. The crowd's view was obscured by a large cloud of dust that had risen from the ground, but loud cries of pain could be heard. The onlookers held their breath as they awaited the outcome.
The dust settled as the wind suddenly stopped. Mikado fell to the ground with several bokken shaped indents on him, and Kunou was still standing a few meters away from him untouched by the attack. Tatewaki Kunou basked in his triumph as the bokken fell from the air and hit the prone Mikado's head.
"Akane Tendo, I have saved you from the perverted advances of
this foolish lecher. No doubt you will rush into my arms in your gratitude..." Kunou
paused and looked around, "Akane... where did you go?"
