Losers Bracket

The Setting:

Perfume wasn't very happy with her situation. Shampoo had insisted on going ice skating with her down at the local Municipal Sports Center to get her mind off of the tournament loss. Being hyper sensitive didn't make ice staking a very enjoyable thing, however, because with each slip and fall, Perfume had been on the verge of hypothermia. At the moment, she just sat outside of the rink, in the cafe that was set up there, watching Shampoo skate around as she drank hot chocolate.

Suddenly, a man sat down next to her. He was a very handsome fellow... very tall and athletic looking, with eyes that seemed to sparke in the light. Perfume sat there, staring at him with wide eyes. He said, "Good day, miss. I couldn't help but notice that you're cold. Perhaps I could warm you up?" He stared at her intently as he said this.

Perfume didn't understand a word of what he said, but what he was suggesting she easily understood from his stare. She nodded her head a few times, hoping that he would understand her reply without the necessity of language.

He said, "Let me get you one of my sweaters that I have in my locker here. I'll be back in just a moment, my dear, so please hold those thoughts." He stood up from the table, an arrogant smile on his face. After all, no lady could resist Mikado Sanzenin. He hurried off to the locker room to get one of his extra sweaters.

Noranov strolled out of the women's locker room, wearing her usual Marching Band attire and carrying her trombone in it's case. She had planned on leaving Japan soon, and wanted to take a little time to enjoy herself while she was still here. Back in her country of Kielowitz, the winters were always very cold, and the lakes and rivers always froze. Ice skating was one of the fond memories she had of her childhood, and after spending a little time in this rink, she felt much better. Losing that tournament fight had pretty much made the entire trip worthless, but now she wouldn't be depressed about it all the way back home.

As she was walking out of the locker room, she ran into none other than Mikado Sanzenin. The male half of the Golden Pair looked at her, and decided to make a move. Sure, she was a few years older than him, but she was beautiful, and getting two kisses in one day would be a very good thing. He said, "Hello, beautiful... I know it's hard to believe, but here I am to sweep you off of your feet." He took a step forward, and intended to put his arms around her.

She was definately not in the mood for this. Taking her trombone case with both hands, she proceeded to beat him soundly over his head.

Perfume, with her hyper-senses, heard sounds of violence in the distance as she waited. She looked over to their source, and saw Noranov beating on the man who was obviously madly in love with her. She jumped out of her seat, and ran over to Noranov. Not being able to express herself well in Japanese, she simply got between the two of them.

The trombonist stopped, and said, "What are you doing? I'm just teaching this creep a lesson. Please get out of the way."

Perfume 'hmphed' defiantly, and took a fighting stance to try and keep this other woman from attacking her new soul mate. This did not deter Noranov, however, and she said, "You want to fight me? Well... I really shouldn't, but I can't stand jerks like him, or the people who defend them." She opened up her case, and assembled her instrument.

The young Amazon was confused for a moment. The other woman was taking out a musical instrument in the face of a martial arts challenge. However, from the way that Noranov held the trombone, Perfume could tell she intended to use it as a weapon. The two of them took their respective fighting stances, and prepared to fight as Mikado sat on the ground, nearly unconscious from his beating.

Commentary:

Orochiryouga

Perfume is an Amazon. Noranov is a trombonist. When Noranov fought Sukira , she lost because of the Bakusai Tenketsu on her trombone. Perfume knows the Breaking Point and will defeat Noranov. And when Mikado tries to 'reward' her, it's gonna be a double victory for... PERFUME!!! (crowd cheers)

Spanner

Ouch, Perfume's hypersensitivity is going to cost her, here. I don't even want to think about what Noranov's Metal Scream attack would do to someone with hypersensitive hearing and most of her other musical attacks would be no less damaging. Still, setting special attacks aside, this becomes more of an even match. Perfume is fast, but her weapons are of a much shorter range than Noranov's. If Perfume disables Noranov's trombone early in the battle, Perfume would probably win. But otherwise, I'm pretty sure Noranov will be the victor.

Wade Tritschler

A tough contest this will be, no doubt. Perfume's added sense is both a hinderance but it is also a key bit of help.  She has enough sensitivity to detect the build up of many of Noranov's attacks and avoid them.  Beyond that Noranov's entire arsenal depends on that instrument.  Bass is no match for tempered steel, I'm afraid, and that leaves her with no defense save dodging, and if she blocks she looses the one weapon she can use.  Dodging really isn't an option with Perfume so Noranov's is in serious trouble.

Hitman25

This should be another close one.  These are both very strong fighters.  In terms of skill and technique, Perfume obviously has the advantage since she has a wider arsenal of moves and doesn't rely on her weapons.  However, one of her greatest strengths may become her fatal downfall.  Her powerful sense of hearing will leave her vulnerable to most of Noranov's noise attacks.  During that time, her skill and speed won't be much help.  I would give this match to Noranov because of that, but her techniques will still have a hard time hitting Perfume.  So in that case... the result will be.... a draw!!  HAHAHA!

Maxfield Stanton

If there were no extenuating circumstances in this fight, I would say Perfume could beat Noranov very quickly. However, the very nature of Noranov's attacks makes them perfectly suited to exploit Perfume's hypersensitive hearing. It won't even take one of her special attacks... Just one really loud note... and Perfume will be holding her ears in pain. Trombones are loud enough to a normal person standing next to one, so it would have to be torture upon someone like Perfume. Once she's open, it'll just take one good hit from Noranov to knock her out.

Starphoenix

For someone who got beat in the fist round, she sure has the potential for winning (Perfume). But things aside, she's capable of winning this match. She knows the Breaking Point technique, so Noranov is pretty much screwed there. So that leaves Noranov... nothing else. Perfume for another thing, is too fast. Match, Perfume.

The Fight:

Perfume decided to let her opponent act first... Her style was better suited to careful defense and wearing an opponent down than it was to reckless offense. She stood there, with both of her arms behind her back as she waited for Noranov to do something.

Noranov didn't quite have the patience to sit there and wait all day. If she didn't act quickly, that jerk would get up and run away while this girl stood in her way. She raised her trombone up, and decided to end the fight quickly. Charging in, she swung her trombone horizontally at Perfume's head. The trombonist was surprised to see her opponent quickly duck under the attack, before countering with a sweeping kick.

The kick swept Noranov off of her feet, and caused her to land on her back. Quickly getting up, she saw that her opponent was just standing there, waiting for another attack. "She's fast..." The trombonist thought, "Clearly I'll need to use more than just my standard fare to get rid of her." Raising her trombone again, she jabbed out toward Perfume. Smiling to herself, she waited until her opponent started sidestepping, and extended the instrument's slide.

Perfume's eyes widened slightly. Since she had lived in the Joketsuzoku village for all her life, she had never seen a trombone before, and thus had no idea it was designed to do that. However, she was still fast, and she brought her arms up quickly to block the attack. Her hands intercepted the blow, but its force was such that her hands were forced into her throat, where the attack was intended to hit.

The Amazon stumbled back a bit, making sure not to lose her footing. Her hands were a bit sore, but it wasn't more than she could handle. Noranov immediately started charging in again, and Perfume thought, <I'll need a little more than just my hands to deal with that weird weapon of hers. Her reach is too great.>

Noranov made her move, swinging her weapon horizontally at the Amazon. Perfume stepped back, to get beyond the arc of the swing, but the trombonist again extended the instrument's slide. Noranov smiled to herself, sure that her unorthodox weapon would again catch her opponent off guard, but Perfume blocked. Noranov wasn't too surprised by this. The Amazon had turned out to be a very quick foe, but she heard the distinct sound of metal hitting metal. Cursing herself, the trombonist thought, "Hidden weapons...?"

Perfume had pulled her collapsable axes from her sleeves, saving her from any sort of pain blocking with her arm may have caused. At the same time, however, it ruined any surprise advantage she may have been able to use. <It doesn't matter,> She thought, <That sliding weapon trick of hers isn't going to help her any more.>

Meanwhile, Mikado was slowly getting to his feet, after recovering from the beating he had received. He watched as the two ladies squared off, and said, "It appears that there's just no limit to how irresistable I am. How tragic that these two ladies should choose to fight over me! I have enough love to give to you both!"

Noranov looked over at him, and growled. She shouted, "You pig!" and started to charge at him, but Perfume quickly put herself in the way. The trombonist thought, "How can she try to protect him after he says something like that? Oh, she's gonna get it..." She raised her trombone to her lips, and started to play her Lullaby.

The Amazon wondered why her opponent was playing a soothing melody in the middle of the battle. She was thankful, however, because very loud notes from that thing would probably cause her hypersensitive ears unbearable pain. She charged at her foe, and started swinging with her axes, trying to end the fight as quickly as possible. Her opponent wasn't being cooperative, however, and she started dodging the axe strikes as she continued to play.

"If I can slow her down, I'll be able to finish her off without a problem." Noranov thought as she continued her Lullaby. She was very experienced at dodging while playing, but few of her opponents were as quick as this Amazon was. She could see her opponent start to slow down, but it wasn't enough.

Perfume realized that the music was having some effect on her, and she chided herself. <I should have won by now... No more holding back.> She shouted, "Kachuu Tenshin Amaguriken!" Noranov knew of this move from all the studies her marching band had done, but she was in no position to avoid it. Perfume started striking out with her axes, pummeling the trombonist with the blunt back ends of them with rapid succession. One of the blows was landed directly on Noranov's gut, causing the air to be blown out of her lungs forcefully.

Just when it appeared the trombonist was finished, the wind that was knocked out of her was blown into her trombone in a very loud and unmelodious note. To Perfume's hypersensitive ears, this was too much to bear. She dropped her axes and covered her ears, stumbling back in pain. Noranov dropped to one knee, barely coming out of that last attack with her consciousness.

Mikado watched, his eyes wide. It was clear to him that these two ladies who were fighting over him were very powerful martial artists. He thought to himself, "Hm... Maybe this is the chance I've been waiting for all my life. I can finally get rid of Azusa, and take the winner of this fight as my new skating partner! I'll be unstoppable!" He started to laugh like a madman, but no one around really payed him any attention, since they were fixed on the fight.

Noranov quickly got back to her feet, even though she had still not entirely caught her breath. With her opponent's axes on the ground, she could get off one of her musical attacks before the Amazon could do anything about it. She put her lips to the trombone's mouthpiece again, and started playing the Pedaltone Blaat.

The low pitched sound waves started to build up in the instrument, and Perfume's enhanced hearing warned her that something powerful was building up. She quickly jumped to the side as fast as she could, throwing herself to the ground in the process. Had she delayed any more than she did, she would have been hit by the sound blast that was finally released from Noranov's trombone.

The Amazon rose to her feet again, looking rather angry. Her opponent's style depended completely on that instrument... Perfume gritted her teeth and charged, just as Noranov was starting to play the Pedaltone Blaat sequence again. Perfume quickly closed the gap, and shouted, "Bakusai Tenkestu!" She extended a finger, and shot it out toward the trombone.

Noranov heard the words 'Bakusai Tenketsu', and remembered her match with Sukira. That attack had caused her instrument to explode in her hands. It was far too late to dodge the attack, so when she felt Perfume's finger jabbing into the trombone, she threw it away from her as far as she could. It soon shattered, and then exploded.

The trombonist had been able to avoid taking any damage from the explosion, but she no longer had her weapon. Perfume smiled, and said in her native tongue, <You're finished...> She brought back a fist, and prepared to put all of her power into one punch thrown right at Noranov's face.

Before she could do this, however, Perfume's eyes caught a glint of light from the trombone's mouthpiece, which was still in Noranov's hands. Apparently, she had seperated it from the rest of her instrument before she threw it away. Putting the mouthpiece to her lips, she blew hard, playing her Metal Scream attack. The effect was nowhere near as strong as it would have been with the trombone, but with the Amazon's sensitive hearing, it was more than enough.

Perfume dropped to her knees, covering her ears as best as she could while shrieking in pain. Noranov smirked coldly, and kicked the Amazon visciously in the chin. The pain from the attack was simply too much, and Perfume fell onto her back, out cold.

Several onlookers started to applaud, and Noranov took a small bow. Mikado walked over to her, and said, "Well, well. You must have great desire for me if you were willing to fight like that on my behalf... Since you've proven yourself such a capable martial artist, I will allow you to become my partner, and..." He was interrupted... by Noranov's uppercut. He fell onto his back, finally knocked out, and the crowd clapped yet again. Noranov took an even deeper bow, and then turned to leave. Another of her instrument's had been destroyed, but being the first chair trombonist in the Martial Arts Marching Band, she was sure the director would have no trouble replacing it.

The Results:

Noranov: 4

Perfume: 3

This one was pretty close... It might not have been if more people had voted, though! But there's nothing I can do about that ^_^ Anyways, I got some pretty good commentary despite the low turnout.
