Round 1
The Setting:
"That little weaking Gosunkugi has been quite a good source of income for us, wouldn't you say, gentlemen?" One young man, asked of his three companions. Each were dressed in a high school uniform, but oddly enough, each also wore a different style of mask. The one who had asked the question was wearing a white cat mask, and had a small bell around his neck.
"Yes, indeed. However, it's simply not enough. After we divide the money four ways, none of us is left with anything." The reply came from a young man in a white fox mask.
"Yeah... I can't even afford any good CDs!" One dressed in an odd looking yellow mask with eyes pointing in strange directions and a mouth that stuck out to the side.
The cat-masked one shook his head, and said, "You're right, of course... But how to supplement our income? We've already marked all the wimps and weakings in the local schools..."
The yellow masked guy replied, "We could beat up that Ranma kid and take his money..."
The rest of the young men looked at each other, and then shook their heads, as though understanding something that the yellow masked guy did not. The fox masked young man said, "Anyways... I have an idea. There's that snooty private school Aoyama Gakuen on the far side of town. If we move our operations over there, we could get a lot more money."
One of the punks, who had been silent up to this point, and who was wearing a strange white traditional theatre style mask said, "Whoa... I've got tennis practice... I can't go running halfway across town. Taking money from others might not make us a lot, but it's better than a part time job. We should be satisfied with what we have."
The others 'hmm'ed to themselves, thinking over his words. Suddenly, the cat masked one stopped, and said, "What the..."
The group usually hung out under a bridge in town when they weren't up to mischief. The bridge crossed a drainage canal which was most of the time empty of water, and thus, provided them a perfect place for their activities. Today, however, it was filled with people. A very large crowd of people, gathered around some sort of roped off area in the middle.
The yellow mask wearing young man said, "Oh yeah... I forgot to tell you guys. There's a martial arts match here today."
The others grumbled, and the cat masked man shouted, "You moron! How could you forget that?!"
Fox-mask said, "Whoa... calm down. Why don't we just watch the match? It should be entertaining, and maybe we can pick a few pockets in the crowd!"
The rest of the gang nodded to one another, agreeing to his idea. Taking off their masks and stuffing them into their school bags, the punks walked over to join the crowd. Without their masks, they looked very non-descript, and perhaps even a bit like clean-cut upstanding young men.
In another part of the crowd, a young Chinese woman wearing a blue silk dress was just arriving. She had long black hair with golden highlights, and with her dress and overall attractive appearance she looked rather regal amongst the Nerima commoners.
She thought to herself, "This should be a lot of fun! A tournament will be a perfect opportunity for me to sharpen my fighting skills... Also, If I win the grand prize, I can go on a really huge shopping spree!" Thoughts of new fancy clothes filled her mind, and she started giggling out loud. Several people nearby scooted away from her.
Continuing in her thoughts, the pondered, "I really hope my competition isn't too serious about this fight. I shouldn't have any problems here, but I don't want to keep a poor starving martial artist from being able to feed themselves if I beat them..." With that, she started off toward the announcer's booth to tell them that she had arrived.
Passing by her without really giving so much as a glance, another young woman walked through the crowd. She had very long red hair, and was dressed in a blue top and skirt. The young lady surveyed the battlefield for a moment and said ,"Whew.. not a lot of water... just a few puddles that look like they've been there for about 3 months without being disturbed. I should have no problems avoiding them...."
"This curse... I've got to get rid of it, but for that, I need to win the ticket to China. Matoko already won her match, so I've got to win mine. It wouldn't feel right if it didn't end up being a showdown between the both of us. I've got a move or two I've been hiding from her just for this too." Chuckling to herself, she walked off to where she was supposed to be so she could do her pre-fight warm ups.
A few minutes passed, and the announcer got everyone's attention. He said over the P/A system, "Welcome everybody to another exciting martial arts match! This one will be a showcase of some pretty powerful talents. Just a reminder to everyone out there... when stuff starts blowing up, cover your eyes!"
The announcer went on, "Introducing our first fighter. From the Saotome School of Anything-Goes Martial arts, It's Reijin Saotome!" The crowd cheered in a polite way as Reijin took the field. She looked ready to go, fueled by her desire to prove herself and to get rid of her curse. She walked to the middle of the fighting area, and started doing a few last minute stretches.
Again, the announcer spoke, "And our next fighter, hailing all the way from China... A Princess of the fabled Joketsuzoku tribe, and a mighty warrior who can bring the toughtest of men to their knees... It's Sharon Wei!" Sharon took the field to her cheers, still dressed rather regally considering that she was about to fight. She made it to the center of the field, and regarded her opponent.
Reijin stopped her stretches, and nodded to Sharon. She said, "You're from China, huh? That's exactly where I'm going after I've won this tournament."
Sharon smiled, not taking her words as braggery or anything of the sort. The Amazon replied, "Well, I wish you the best of luck, but in the end, it's decided by whoever has the skill and the intensity to win."
Reijin smiled back, and said, "I can assure you I'm not short on either one." With that, she took a rather lazy looking Anything-Goes stance, which projected a false air of unrediness, and allowed for adaptation to almost anything an attacker could start with.
Sharon took her usual Joketsuzoku stance, and prepared for the face off. "This is going to be fun!" She thought to herself as the referees took their positions.
Comments:
Hitman25
Both come from successful fighting bloodlines so no doubt this should be a good match. In the end, however, Sharon should come out on top. Reijin's main moves are the Hiryu Shoten Ha and the Chesnut Fist. These moves already come from Sharon's bloodline. Sharon already has these techniques and more. Reijin seems, without a doubt, more determined than Sharon. This would give her an advantage in the beginning in the intensity department. However, the harder Reijin fights, the harder Sharon will fight back. Also, while Reijin's curse is the worst thing in life that has happened to her, Sharon has lived through a lot more than Reijin. She has been through tragic moments, death, and has still survived. In the end, her experience should grant her the win.
Spanner
As the daughter of Ranma and Akane, and as the student of the former, Reijin is a POTENT martial artist. Sharon specializes in Amazon-style fighting, a style which Reijin will recognize instantly, as she was trained in the same as part of her Anything Goes instruction. Granted, Sharon is a particularly skilled master of Amazon-style fighting, but the diversity of Anything-Goes will overcome it. To add to this, Reijin, if she's anything like her father, will have a win-by-any-means-necessary attitude. She NEEDS to win. Her pride demands nothing less. Sharon does not have that problem/advantage. She's fighting for the fun of it, here, and if she doesn't win, she's not going to be significantly phased by the loss. So, Reijin is going to win this one.
Maxfield Stanton
Sharon Wei is among the finest of all Joketsuzoku warriors, and in my opinion, would have little trouble beating Ranma Saotome even if he was going all out against her. With her massive ki attacks, in addition to the fact that she can actually BLOCK ki attacks (which Rei doesn't even have to begin with), plus her ability to move faster than the eye can see not only puts her above nearly everyone in Ranma 1/2, but on the same level as lower end Dragonball characters. To put it simply, Reijin is absolutely no match for such a powerhouse, since she seems to have slightly less martial arts ability than Ranma did in his youth, which is less than it takes to defeat the likes of Sharon Wei.
Ryouga Hibiki'00
Sharon has this one all the way! Reijin has some impressive moves but they have been used by other fighters MANY different times. Sharon has all of Reijin's moves and more. Plus Sharon is really smart(according to the fanfic). Overall , the young Saotome will be a good adverisary but Sharon has it all.
Tora10
Ok, to start with, Reijin only knows some of ranma's old techniques, all of wich were origonaly Amazon techniques I might add! Reijin has never seen ROYAL style Amazon fighting, Sharon has seen Anything Gose Style since her Boyfreind is Eddie Wong [check his profile to see what I'm talking about]. Shanon has more techniques, and has been able to take on Colonge with them, and Reijin won't expect some of them. Now I'm not going to go bashing Reijin, she has been studying longer I belive, and has studied with Ranma and Ryoga, who I think are more hardcore sensei, and of course therfe is that desire for a cure. so to some it up Reijin may have alot of the cards, but Sharon has more in her favor. So it looks like a victory for the Amozon princess.
The Fight:
With a shout of "Fight!" from one of the referees, the match had officially begun. Reijin remained in her unready looking stance, waiting for her opponent to make the first move. Sharon obliged, bringing one of her feet up for a kick aimed directly at the young Saotome's jaw.
Reijin smiled to herself, thinking, "This works every time." It was a typical Anything-Goes manevuer... By forcing your opponent to act first, you could better assess their strengths and weaknesses without giving away your own, and therefore, you could adapt accordingly. She moved her arms down to grab Sharon's approaching leg, preparing a counter-throw once her arms took hold.
Sharon suddenly stopped her foot, and then shifted her stance very quickly. At nearly ten times the speed of her first kick, she brought her foot up and around for an attack aimed at the side of Reijin's head. Rejin didn't expect such a quick change of attack, and was caught by the kick on her cheek. She stumbled to the side a few steps before finally regaining her footing.
The young Saotome looked at Sharon, gritting her teeth a bit. She thought, "Why did I have to get stuck fighting someone like this in my first match? I guess I'd better start taking this match very seriously from here on out." She rubbed at the sore spot on the side of her face for a moment.
The Amazon princess regarded her opponent, and thought, "That might have been a little too mean of an opening attack. I hope she isn't mad... This fight is finished by knockout, though, so the sooner I end this, the less anyone is going to get hurt." She immediately charged toward her opponent again, and once she was in close, she shouted, "Kachuu Tenshin Amaguriken!"
A flurry of lightning fast punches flew in toward Reijin. She, however, was very familiar with the technique, and had prepared her defenses as soon as she heard the words leave Sharon's mouth. She countered by blocking and punching at the same speed. The crowd looked on, making sounds of excitement as they saw both competitors' arms become blurs of motion.
"Goodness, where did she learn this Amazon technique?" Sharon thought to herself. It was very rare that any outsider knew the secrets of her tribe. She decided that it was even more important to end the match as quickly as possible. As the two continued their flurry of attacks and blocks, Reijin suddenly felt one of her punches get through her opponent's guard... and then another. She continued punching, taking advantage of her opportunity. It was only a split second later when she realized her punches were going through Sharon completely.
The image of Sharon faded, and Reijin felt a multitude of lightning fast punches on her back. The punching stopped as abruptly as it had started, and Reijin found herself being spun around roughly by a push to the shoulder. When she had been turned all the way around, she saw the Amazon drawing her fist back right before it collided with her face.
Reijin flew through the air from the force of the punch, and landed roughly on the cement ground of the drainage canal. Many in the crowd who had been hoping Reijin would win let out sounds of disappointment. She had been thrashed pretty badly in the last exchanged, and many figured it was over with. The referees gathered around to see wether or not the young Saotome would get back up.
Everyone let out an 'Oooh' when Reijin's hand twitched a bit. A mere moment later, she opened her eyes and started to get to her feet, although it took a considerable amount of effort. She growled out, "Nothing is going to keep me from getting rid of my curse... You got that?"
Sharon watched her opponent. She had no idea what curse the young Saotome was talking about, or how she planned on getting rid of it. She did know, however, that her opponent still looked very determined. She got into a fighting stance, and waited for her worn-down opponent to make some sort of move.
Reijin saw that her opponent still looked cool and calm, and thought, "I have got to take control of this match now. If I let her continue to control the tempo of the fight, she's already won." She decided to fall back on that which all Saotomes excelled at... air-to-air combat. She charged, and leapt into the air at her opponent. The Amazon princess saw this, and leapt high up to meet the challenge, still wanting to end the match quickly.
As Sharon ascended, she gathered her ki. Right before the two of them met in air, she shouted, "Ryu Kaze Ha!" Out of her hands shot a blue beam of ki, aimed directly at Reijin. The young Saotome had definately not expected anyone to be using moves of such a caliber in a tournament fight, and her surprise alone almost paralyzed her. At the last moment, she used her superior aerial acrobatic skills to twist out of the blast's way. With Sharon still recovering from the attack, she had an opening, and unleashed the Kachuu Tenshin Amarugiken.
The Amazon princess was able to block most of the quick attacks, but the small opening allowed Reijin to get in a few well placed shots. The two of them landed, and turned to face each other again. After a short pause, with the crowd holding its breath, a small tear developed on the sleeve of Sharon's regal and expensive looking dress. The Amazon yelped, and said, "Do you have any idea how much this thing costs?!"
Reijin smiled a bit, even though she was still not feeling well after the earlier beating. Still, in true Saotome fashion, she had started to recover quickly. She thought, "Yes... she's mad. Now I'm in control of the tempo, and I'm going to end it." Falling back on another Saotome specialty, she looked at her opponent, and said aloud, "Oh, poor baby. What kind of real martial artist whines over a dress in the middle of a serious fight? And I thought you were going to be a challenge."
Sharon frowned. She saw that her opponent was trying to make her mad, and to a small degree it was working. She decided the best strategy would be to play along. Giving in to the temptation, she let her hot ki start to build as she charged in at Reijin, throwing a quick series of attacks, although not quite as quick as she was capable of. Reijin made no move to counter attack, putting on the best appearances of being beaten back as she blocked attack after attack.
"Just draw her into the spiral... Let her be defeated by her own power. That's what dad always said." Reijin thought as she went through the steps of the Hiryuu Shouten Ha. She remained as calm as she could as her opponent's hot ki continued building with the attack. When she had backed into the center of the spiral, she said, "Now it's over!"
Sharon quickly interrupted, "You're right! Hiryu Sho Rekka!" She used the power of her own hot ki to form a spiral of flames, centered around herself. Reijin was completely defenseless, and took the blast in its full force. People in the crowd ducked down and shielded themselves to avoid the heat blown off in all directions.
As the flames died down, Reijin was standing there, looking very crisp. Her clothes were singed, and her skin blackened. After a few seconds, she fell over with a groan. Sharon gave a bow to her fallen opponent, thinking, "I maybe used a little more intensity for that attack than I needed to. Still, the match is over, and she will get better very quickly."
After the referees made sure that the young Saotome was indeed down for the count, they declared Sharon Wei the winner. The crowd went wild in enthusiasm, very glad to have seen a match with such fiery and flamboyant special techniques. Sharon accepted her applause, and then walked off to prepare herself for the next challenge.
The Results:
Sharon Wei: 6
Reijin Saotome: 1
Not many votes at all this time. Maybe people thought that the outcome would be fairly obvious for this one, and didn't bother... I don't know. Anyways, I was pretty sure this one would end the way it did. Hopefully this will be the last really lop sided battle in the tournament, since it's better for this to happen sooner rather than in the final rounds. We'll have to wait and see how things play out.
