Round 1
The Setting:
"Alooooooooooooha everbody!" The Principal of Fuurinkan High exclaimed. Several people in the gym cringed with fear, as they knew the voice well. Many of them wondered to themselves if this whole tournament was just of the Principal's plans to cut their hair. As he continued speaking, however, some of the crowd's nerves were settled.
"We all here today for the BIG fun, ya? Here we be introducin' the competitors for dis big martial arts battle!" The Principal said, causing some cheering to erupt from the audience. The gym was set up in the Headmaster's favorite Hawaiian theme, with all sorts of sand, palm trees, and a couple of hidden hazards. Bleachers were set up along the edges, offering the masses a fairly good look at what was going to take place, but there were several areas obscured by patches of trees.
"Introducin' the first of our fighters, representin' da Joketsuzoku is the powerful and beautiful Purfume!!!" From the Fuurinkan locker room door stepped a young Amazon woman, dressed in typical battle garb which was black and red in color with golden trims. A bunch of the guys in the crowd gave wolf whistles, while the girls politely clapped as the competitor took the field.
Perfume looked around the inside of the gym, and thought to herself, "What a strange place... I didn't know the climate was warm enough for this sort of thing in Japan. It doesn't matter though.. I've trained in such places before." She walked over to the center of the ring, which was little more than a sandy clearing.
The Principal started to speak again as the cheers died down. He said, "And here we be introducin' our next fighter, from the Gagema Piston Power Style of martial arts, and a wonderful tennis player, Noriko Gagema!!" From the 'visitor' locker room door stepped another young woman, this one Japanese and wearing a white tennis outfit. The group of guys who whistled before did so again, and once more the girls just politely clapped.
Noriko walked across the sandy ground and waved to the crowds. She spotted Ryouga sitting amongst them, and gave the lost boy a wink. As she approached the center of the field, she saw that her opponent was already sizing her up. Noriko gave a short bow to the Amazon, and then said, "That's a pretty neat outfit you have there. Hopefully it won't get totally destroyed in our match."
Perfume looked at Noriko for a moment. The Japanese girl couldn't tell if she had taken it as a threat or a compliment, but there was a moment of tension nevertheless. Perfume looked right at Noriko, and said... "Nihao!"
Noriko nearly facefaulted, and said, "Uh... you didn't understand a word I said, did you?" Perfume just smiled, and nodded her head.
The Principal stepped in, and said, "Okay, is our contestants ready?" Perfume understood 'ready', and nodded her head. Noriko did the same. The tennis player took an odd sort of stance, as though she were about to recieve a serve, and the Amazon stood in what appeared to be an unready stance, both feet together and her arms folded behind her back.
The Principal shouted in English, [Let's get ready to rumble!!!!!!!]
Comments:
Jazzie
This one easily goes to Noriko because she is supposedly a match for Ranma who can easily defeat, Shampoo the winner of the Amazon tournament. While Perfume is not even the strongest of the Amazons. To top it off, Perfume has the added weakness to pain.
Spanner
Perfume is good. I mean, really, really good. Her speed,
defense, and offense all rival, if not surpass, even Ranma's.
Unfortunately for her, she's got a big honkin' weakness that
Noriko is perfectly suited to exploit. Perfume has an almost
unbreakable defense, but a large number for Noriko's moves are
designed to attack indirectly, circumventing that defense. With
the exception of the Chestnut Fist, and the Final Kiss, all of
her special techniques are ones that can be launched from a
distance. And in the case of two of them, the Piston Earthquake
and the Mizumi Rise, the attack comes from underneath, a venue of
attack that most warriors don't anticipate. Unless Perfume has an
uncanny premonition as to where Noriko's attacks come from, and
also the ability to block ki attacks with her axes, her only
chance will lie with taking out Noriko quickly at the
very beginning of the match, before her opponent has a chance to
bring her ki attacks into play. However, I don't think that's
gonna happen. And, of course, should Noriko become a dragon
during the fight, well, Perfume would stand no chance at all.
Unless, of course, Noriko is so mortified at having her secret
revealed that she flees the arena in shame. But, all things
considered, I think Noriko is going to win.
Rmoody
Perfume is too fast, and is quite good at avoiding attacks. Noriko probably doesn't want to marry her anyway.
Maxfield Stanton
Perfume might be able to beat up a beginning of the series Ranma, but that's most likely because of her Amazon training. Every time Ranma learns one of those moves, he becomes a lot more powerful than he was before. If Perfume had been fighting the Ranma who knew all of this stuff going into the match, I don't think it would have turned out the same way. Noriko is up to par with the 'current' Ranma, and has a large array of ki moves, which Perfume doesn't seem very well versed in.
The Fight:
The Principal shouted, "FIGHT!"
Both fighters jumped at each other almost immediately, wishing to use their speed to get in a quick few hits and end the match then and there. Noriko swung her tennis racquet at her opponent, aiming the hard thin edge at the side of her head. Perfume reacted quickly, pulling two collapsable axes from her sleeves. She blocked the strike with one of her weapons, and counter attacked with the other.
Noriko was momentarily caught by surprise. She hadn't thought that Perfume was using any sort of weaponry. She chided herself for being careless, and quickly swung her racquet over to block the other axe.
The fighters separated, and paused to re-evaluate the situation. Both of them realized that neither had a decisive speed advantage, and both of them quickly reformulated their strategies. Noriko took a defensive stance, holding her weapon with both hands down at her side.
Perfume thought, <She has one weapon. I have two. If I keep attacking, she's bound to leave an opening.> The Amazon charged in, and jabbed at her opponent with one weapon. Noriko blocked easily with her tennis racquet, which was made of the latest light-weight high-strength metals. Perfume's second axe attack was about to come a split second later, but the Amazon's senses warned her of danger. She looked down and saw Noriko's foot heading right for her face. She ducked out of the way just in time, although a couple of stray hairs were clipped from her head by the attack's sheer force.
Noriko sensed an opening as Perfume made her dodge, and attacked with her racquet. Perfume recovered quickly enough to block the attack. The two attacked each other a few more times, but no blows were landed. They separated again, and once more re-evaluated their strategies.
The principal said over the gym's intercom, "Oooh! Exciting fight we have here! Who will be drawin' da first blood?" He looked at the combattants' hair, and thought to himself that proper girls just didn't grow it out that long. He'd have to do something about that.
Noriko thought for a moment, and then decided on her course of action. She leapt backwards toward one of the palm trees that were in the gym, and sprung off of it toward her opponent suddenly. Perfume had plenty of time to react, and just before Noriko was in range for an attack, she shouted, "Baksuai Tenketsu!" and struck the ground in front of her with her axes.
The sand that was all over the gym floor shot up like a geyser. Noriko had no choice but to enter the cloud of sand, since she was still in mid-air. She tried to cover her eyes as best as she could, but still her vision was affected. She landed on the ground as the sand cleared, and Perfume attacked.
The Amazon slammed the handles of both axes into Noriko's abdomen, causing her to double over. The Japanese girl tried to counter attack with her racquet, but her eyes were stinging too much for her to fight effectively. Perfume sidestepped the counter, and hit Noriko in the side of the head with one of the axe handles. It was only a tournament match, after all, so there was no need to use her weapon's blades.
The tennis player staggered, and then fell to the ground on her side. Perfume quickly moved into position and raised one of her axes up to deliver the final blow. She didn't really like attacking an enemy who was down, but it seemed like a much better option than continuing the stalemate battle that she had been fighting earlier. Before the blow could be delivered, Noriko shouted, "Piston Earthquake!" and punched the ground in front of her.
Perfume struggled to keep her footing as the ground beneath her trembled. Several coconuts from the trees above started raining down. The ground stopped shaking, and she started chopping up the falling coconuts before they could hit her. Noriko took the distraction as a chance to wipe all of the sand out of her eyes.
The tennis player turned to face her opponent, who had dispatched the last of the falling projectiles, still feeling the pain of being hit by those axes. She shook it off as best as she could, and thought, "Okay.. I really need to get serious here." She picked up a coconut from the ground, and said, "Check out this serve!" She tossed it up into the air in front of her, and then smacked it with her tennis racquet.
Perfume's eyes widened as she saw the thing coming at her in a weird sort of zig-zag flight pattern. She didn't risk trying to block it since it's path was so erratic, and jumped high into the air to dodge. Noriko charged, and jumped up in the air to meet her. The Japanese girl shouted, "Gagema Piston Power School final attack! Piston Kicks!"
Perfume yelled, "Kachuu Tenshin Amaguriken revised! Steel storm!" Noriko's legs and Perfume's axes struck out at one another at incredible speed. Even though the exchange had been brief, many blows had been thrown back and forth. Both combattants landed on the ground, and turned to face each other again.
Noriko thought, "If she had used that on me earlier when I couldn't have blocked with my kicks, I would have been finished. If I don't go all out, I'm never going to win this match, and I'll never get that plane trip to China." She took a deep breath, and prepared to make her move.
Perfume thought, <She is a strong opponent, but she'll never get through my defenses. It's time to finish this before I get tired and let one of her attacks slip through my guard.> With an Amazon battle cry, she started charging at Noriko. With her opponent on the ground, her Kachuu Tenshin Amaguriken could not be blocked with those kicks.
Noriko let Perfume get closer and closer until she finally struck the ground in front of her again. She said, "Piston earthquake!" As the earth trembled again, the Amazon struggled to keep herself from falling down. She knew she wouldn't be able to jump from such unstable ground without landing ungracefully and hurting herself badly in the process. A hard landing would put her out of the match with her sensitivity to pain.
As Perfume tried to find a way out of her situation, Noriko followed up one move with another. She said, "Mizumi rise!" And projected her ki into the ground. Right as the earthquake attack subsided, the blast of ki emerged from the ground right under Perfume's feet, and sent her flying ungracefully into one of the palm trees.
The tennis player looked worn out and drained from her earlier injuries and the drain on her ki, and took the chance to get a bit of rest as she waited for Perfume to rise to her feet and continue the fight. When the Amazon remained still on the sand for several seconds, the Principal announced, "And da winner is, Noriko Gagema! Let's hear it for da girl, ya?"
Noriko ignored the cheers of admiration that rose from the grandstands, and rushed over to her fallen opponent's side. She knealt down, and cradled the Amazon in her arms. The tennis player said, "Are you okay? Please wake up! I didn't mean to hurt you like this.. please don't be dead." Tears came to her eyes in her state of distress.
Perfume's eyes opened slowly. She looked up into the face of her opponent, and saw the genuine concern that the Japanese girl was showing for her... She said softly in Chinese, <I love you...> and then she passed out again.
Noriko looked confused, and said, "Wo ai ni? What does that mean? Well, it looks like she'll be okay. I guess I just got lucky on that last attack," She picked up the Amazon and walked out of the gym, looking for some sort of doctor's place to drop her off. As she left the school grounds, she realized that some of the audience members had been screaming for some reason. She shrugged, figuring that it was unimportant.
Back in the gym, the Principal was attacking various people with his shears. He thought, "They said I couldn't interfere in da match, but now that it's over, all this hair be mine to shave! HA HA HA HA HA!!"
The Results:
Noriko Gagema:7
Perfume: 6
Close match! It took me a long time to write this cause I was waiting for a tie breaking vote! Thanks to everyone who casted their votes and stuff. I'll try to be more prompt with future updates.
