Later at the arcade, Usagi, Rei, and Ami get too see Gurio's rare photo of the princess- who looks like Gurio with her large glasses. Ami and Rei also get the details on the princess they are searching for- that she was sealed away because she may have the ginzuishou.

At home, Usagi asks her father why he is all dressed up- he tells her that he is going to the Embassy Ball too. Usagi pulls out the Luna pen after her father leaves and yells, "MOON POWER! Morph into a princess!" Her uniform turns into a beautiful gown. Ami and Rei come to the ball with Usagi.

It is a whole masquerade ball; Usagi's breath is taken away. Rei and Ami go investigate while Usagi marvels at the guests. A woman accidentally spills her drink on Usagi's dress and as she runs off to find a sink, she drops her handkerchief. Tuxedo Kamen, who is standing in the crowd, catches the handkerchief and reads the embroidery: "Grade 8 Class 1. Tsukino Usagi." He asks Usagi for a dance and they tell each other how much they wanted to see each other. Luna calls Usagi and Kamen runs off. Luna says Princess D is not the princess they are searching for.

Meanwhile, the princess calls over an attendant to help her. She is sad because she thinks that she isn't pretty. The attendant is actually Nephrite's Shadow and it possesses her, making her an evil minion. The princess runs and steals the treasure and runs off. Usagi jumps on her to try to stop her, but the princess flings Usagi over the balcony. Tuxedo Kamen grabs Usagi by the wrist, but both slip off the edge. Luna tells Usagi to pull out the pen, which turns into a parasol. Usagi and Tuxedo Kamen float to the ground, then Kamen thanks Usagi and runs off.

Usagi transforms and a new tiara appears on her forehead, one with a rather large gem in the center. Sailor Moon jumps back onto the balcony to see Nephrite's shadow swallowing the guests, including her father. Sailor Mars yells, "AKU RYO TAI SAN!" but it has no effect. Tuxedo Kamen reappears and tells Sailor Moon to use the power of light to fight the darkness. Luna tells Sailor Moon how to use the tiara. Sailor Moon reflects the moonlight against the tiara's gem and yells, "MOON TWILIGHT FLASH!" which destroys the shadow. The spell is broken, and the princess wakes up and drops her glasses to reveal- she's gorgeous! (she kinda looks like Usagi with Hotaru's haircut, only it's not black hair.) The treasure is (drumroll)- a 2000 carat diamond statue of the queen .

Sailor Moon decides she needs to quench her thirst and gulps down- a martini! She drunkenly passes out on Tuxedo Kamen, who places her on a secluded balcony and kisses her, which brings on nostalgic feelings. Luna confronts Kamen and asks why he always appears, what is his goal. Kamen says he is also searching for the ginzuishou. Luna asks if he is an enemy, and Kamen replies that if they are searching for the same ginzuishou, they may possibly be enemies.

Outside of the embassy, we see Kino Makoto running in the rain. She note the oncoming of a storm.
