UTENA
Utena Tenju (don't quote me on the spelling of her last name) is a young girl at Ohtori Academy who wants to become a prince. She dresses in a guys uniform and is the best at almost every sport. Utena is searching for her long lost prince who gave her a ring with a rose signet on it when she was a child. One day Utena spots a the Student Council's vice president, Saiounju, outside a rose garden with a girl by the name of Anthy Himemiya. Saiounju slaps Anthy and this angers Utena. Later, she confronts Saiounji, who takes the confontation as a challenge to a duel. He tells Utena to meet him in the dueling arena and she accepts, (but was that really such a good idea?) even though she is not quite sure what she's getting herself into. When Utena arrives, she notices that not only Saiounji is there but Anthy as well, and in a long red dress! But why??? Anthy explains the rules of the duel as she places a rose on Utena's uniform. Utena is still confused and asks why Anthy is here. Saiounji replays by telling Utena that Anthy is the Rose Bride and that she has a right to be there. Anthy begins to chant and a ball of light appears in her hands. Saiounji then leans her back and pulls a sword out of her chest! What has Utena gotten herself into???
