China - -
Impossible for me to describe
- - -
It is so big, beautiful, old,
fantastic, unbelievable, awesome, inspiring, stunning, - and - -
- - ????
It would take an endless succession
of adjectives to describe,- and even then I think that I cannot make it
right - - -
After all,- China was once the
most advanced nation on Earth - - -
You must go there yourself,-
and FEEL it - - - - -

In the section on Korea,- I wrote that Korea was the most beautiful country in the world!
I know, that a lot of people
would dispute that and say, that other places like for example China, are
just as beautiful.
Yes,- I know very well that
you can find scenery in China, - and other places -,that can easily match
the best of what Korea has to offer.
However,- if you fell down from
the sky, and landed at some random place anywhere in Korea, then it is
very likely that you would find yourself in a very beautiful place - -
-
If not,- it will only take
a very short bus drive, and you will for sure ,- and in a remarkable short
time -, find scenery of unsurpassed beauty!
In China it is not quite that
easy.
Due to the immense size of
the country, the distances are very, very far, and if you want to see the
scenic places, you must be prepared for some really long rides.
Not so in Korea!
Everything there is very concentrated,-
and that is why I still insist that Korea really is the most beautiful
country in the world!
At this point I must admit,
that I have not traveled nearly as intensive in China as I have in Korea,
although I have spent many, many months of my life in China.
China is simply too big, but
I have the strongest intentions to do something about it, and explore that
great country a lot more, especially when it comes to scenery.
However,- I have had the good
fortune to be in China during the Cultural Revolution in the beginning
of the seventies.
Very few Westerners had the
chance to experience that, because in those days China was a totally closed
country!
But for sailors from selected
nations, it was possible to go there and catch a glimpse of a truly unique
place,- and indeed-, a very confused and turbulent situation.
Therefore I have decided to make a section dealing with that special period of time, and in addition I will also submit some of my impressions from what China is like today.
Please enjoy some of my impressions
from China!
