M/S "JUTLANDIA"

- part 2 -

- The Engine Room -

I mentioned in the beginning, that "JUTLANDIA" and her sister had the most powerful diesel plant ever installed in a ship.
Later a Japanese ship was built with slightly more horsepower,- but that more powerful ship had "only" two engines,- while "JUTLANDIA" had three - - -
Therefore I have reason to believe, that the engine room of "JUTLANDIA",- and her sister-, were still the most impressive engine rooms around - - -
Therefore I will include some pictures from one of the mightiest engine rooms the World has ever seen - - -

- and here it is,- the top platform of the biggest engine plant in the world -

To the left you see the port side engine with 9 cylinders - - -
In the center you have a 12 cylinder engine,- and hidden behind it you can just see the starboard side, 9 cylinder engine,- totally 30 cylinders!
Those 3 main engines had 10 turbochargers,- and with 3 fuel injection valves per cylinder,- we have 90 fuel valves!

Unfortunately it is not possible to get all three main engines in one picture.
