Kit Yu is a gifted artist and designer, educated in her native China.
She is a great artist and paints like a mixture of Cezanne, Bonnard, Vuillard, Gauguin and of course herself.
She can also make very look alike pencil drawings of people in a remarkable short time.
She does not use oil paint as I do, but prefer acrylic paint, as well as traditional Chinese methods like ink painting with brushes and pens, - as well as using pencils.
Kit Yu loves the beautiful "soft" Danish nature , and rarely goes out without bringing her sketch books and various pens and pencils - -

When Kit Yu came to Denmark in 2002, there was a person I simply had to introduce her to - - -
It was my old friend, - the well known artist Børge Thurup -, with whom I often had looooong conversations about important things in life.
He lived in the countryside in a fantastic authentic old farm house from the 16 hundreds where almost nothing had been changed.
There was a big open fireplace in the middle of the house, and this fireplace was the main heating source.
There was no bedroom and no bed - - -
Instead Børge slept in a real alcove, - a recess in the wall with doors that could be closed -, just like for several hundred years ago, and it was so small that you cannot stretch out, but have to sleep in half sitting position - - -

At that time Børge was 85 years old and it was a unique experience to see young Kit Yu from China immediately connect to this old master painter from Denmark, - there really was a sort of immediate bond between them although they could not understand a word of each others language, - but through art they both understood each other very well, - and that was more than enough - - - -

Unfortunately Børge died 3 years later, - 88 years old -, and we could no longer visit him in his unique old farmhouse, and Kit Yu lost a great source of inspiration - - -
But we have a stone from his house, - and in that stone is a little bit of Børge present, so in fact he is very near - - -
