Since 1990, a group of Buddhists in Louisville organized and established: " The Vietnamese Buddhists Association of Louisville, Kentucky". This organization was approved by the State with a ' Certificate of Existence Domestic Corporation’ which was issued by the Office of The Secretary of State on December 19th, 1995.

With a significant supports from the Buddhist community in States, one Buddhist Temple with the name "TU AN" has been growing at Louiville. Tu An Temple has received a ‘Certificate of Use and Occupancy’ on August 30th, 1996 from the Department of Inspections, Permits and Licenses. Tu An Temple is owned by the ‘Vietnamese Buddhist Association of Louisville'. Buddhist Tu An Temple has been operating within the U.S. Laws for charities, religions, educations, and scientific purposes.

Since September 20th, 1996, ‘The Vietnamese Buddhist Association of Louisville – Tu An Temple’ has been recognized by the ‘Vietnamese American Unified Congress in the United States of America’ as its permanent member. Tu An Temple welcomes prayers every Sunday; it has received the spirit of passed-away people, with the spirit worshipping in the back-room, and prayers for our ancestors to have Peace in Heaven, and prayer for illed-people to get well soon. In addition, Tu An also welcomes all visitors who might come to pray, observe, research or study. Tu An Temple pays special attention to all activities of the ‘Youth Buddhist Family’, in order to maintain our culture and tradition of Buddhism and our People.

Tu An Temple has been distributing the ‘Tu An News-Letter’ since early 1998 to everyone in the community and outside.Besides that, our library in Vietnamese and English versions welcomes all readers daily.

Moreover, Tu An Temple is still in the process of improvement. In the aim to the next 21th century and for better service, Tu An is needing assistances from the people all over the country.
