My Best Friend's Wedding
Episode IV: Big Pun and More Tears

I found out yesterday that people are actually READING my little wedding stories on here...so im really motivated today to finish up the story. Let's hope this is the last installment cuz i'd really hate to leave yall hangin over the weekend. =)

Friday night 06-16-00, 11:00pm: Left the rehearsal dinner and bounced to my friend Aileen's house real quick to finish up the CDs. Brought the SF heads with me to help out. Thanks to Aileen for letting us use your kitchen table and to Aileen's dad for the dope printer. ahahahah I printed about 80 sheets with it in the time it took me to print 16 w/Dave's busted printer. All good. I had 3 people peeling and sticking labels on, and we were done mad quick.

Early Saturday Morning 06-17-00, approx 1:30am: Drove to NYC - funny cuz the 3 LEAST familiar with NYC were driving alone together. We found the hotel okay though. Stayed with the groom that night. Walked into the room and he was writing his vows for the next day. Crazy stuff. He seemed a tad bit nervous...i dont know if he had trouble sleeping that night cuz i was knocked out as soon as the lights went out. =) (i'm always the first one sleepin)

8:00am: 7 hours until the big event. Woke up, took a quick shower and shaved my goatee off so that i look all clean-cut for the wedding. *rubs chin* feels like the ass of a 10 yr old girl..aehahahaahah SICK! Anyways...jetted out with the best man Randy to finish up some last minute errands.

Went to the tuxedo place to pick up our jackets (they gave us the wrong ones the other day), and dropped off the finished CD's to the reception restaurant. Got back to the hotel and packed up some stuff. Rushing because it was 10:45am and the limo to the church was coming at 11:00am.

11:00am-11:45am: Just our luck. The ONE TIME that we are all on time (for those of you who don't know...we're usually on filipino time which means LATE)...our ride is late. Figures. The best man Randy is screaming on the cell phone to the limo company because we are 30 minutes behind schedule. He's actually pretty harsh. I relax in the hotel lobby and take a nap. It's gonna be a looong day. We find out that our ride is stuck in traffic because theres a demonstration on 59th street. Randy is furious...all that changes when our ride pulls up and a driver the size of BIG PUN (bout 6 foot, 350lbs, give or take 100lbs) gets out of the car.

We find out that his name is MOE. (i'll refer to him as BIG MOE from now on) Oh and if i didn't mention, our ride was a black Lincoln Navigator. Hot, right? We even had a black Lincoln Town Car following us to put all of our luggage in. Big Time AGAIN. ahahahah. We get to the church around 1:30pm, and set up for the wedding (put bows on the pews) arrange chairs, etc. Big Moe was cool as hell and picked us up some food from a local deli. We grubbed real quick and by this time it was 2:30pm. Us groomsmen rushed to get dressed and we heard that there were already some people arriving at the church.

By the way, last Saturday was H.A.B. (hot as balls) outside...close to 90 degrees, and here i was in a black tux, long sleeved shirt, tie, and vest. SWEATIN. The next 20 minutes went pretty much like this: greet guests, wipe sweat w/rag, hand out program, wipe sweat, say "sit in any pew but the first 6", wipe sweat...and so on.

3:00pm comes around, and the bride is no where to be seen. Now i've heard of grooms getting cold feet, but the bride??? hmmmn. Runaway Bride anyone? Naw...jus playin. They got stuck in traffic comin to Jersey and showed up at around 3:15pm. We all get in line, and start walking down the aisle. Lotta people there. I can feel my escort's arm shaking a little..i guess she was a lil nervous having hundreds of eyes on her. Cute. =) I'm walking, i'm smiling, i'm feelin pretty good right now. I see my boys standing at the altar (dave and the 2 best men) and i smile. Olivia (the bride) walks down the aisle w/her father, and i can see her mother in the pew across from me crying. This part is pretty tough. I actually kinda got choked up a little (damn, again?!).

The wedding is all going fine, until the part where the ring bearer is supposed to bring up the rings, which are tied to a pillow. The best man takes the pillow, and for some reason, is taking UNUSUALLY long to untie them. All of us in the pews can only see their backs, so we dont know what is going on. There's a very uncomfortable silence in the church, and one of the best men comes to our pew and whispers "where are the rings?"? I see the bride and groom smile a nervous smile, and the wedding continues (i think they got rings to use from one of the sponsors). All the while this is going on, what's funny is that there are about 5 of our boys running around like crazy in the back of the church looking for the rings. AHAHAHAAH. I guess what happened is that when the ring bearer was running up the aisle, the rings must have gotten untied from the pillow somehow.

Don't worry, everything was okay...they found the rings and gave them to the bride and groom later. The wedding went okay otherwise...the bride and groom recited their own vows, which was pretty cool..i just wish we could have heard it clearer..but all good =)...then, badda-bing badda-boom, kiss the bride and its all over =) ahahahah to a big round of applause. Beautiful moment i must say.

Okay. Now I know i said that I would finish this today, but im already being long-winded as it is...so i think i'll end it here, and pick up with the reception on Monday. Okay? Thanks for comin' out, god bless and good night.
