- Kanginshu no. 45

			Don't look!
			 Don't look!
			  People will guess
			   So don't look!

This original song (Japanese version) would be a good example that people's actual words became a song. That is, a woman at this period (early 16th century) would say just like this to her boyfriend (in their mind) when he looked at her on the street. This song sounds so natural and cute.

I chose Kyoto as a location for this song. The city was almost destroyed during the Onin war in late 15th century, but it was reconstructed greatly and rapidly by the people in Kyoto. Kyoto became a center of Japanese culture again, and it was one of the busiest cities in Japan in the 16th century.

In this song, a girl and her boy friend happened to meet on the street in kyoto where many shops were located and many people worked or enjoyed their shopping. When her boyfriend found her among many people, he raised his hand since he was so happy to find her. However, the girl was so embarassed and turned red since many around her looked at her curiously. In my opinion, she was so embarassed but at the same time, she would have been happy... so I tried to draw her complex feeling in her face...

I draw only one page for this story since I did not think that many explanation would be necessary.
