Shun-ei |
Katsukawa Shun-ei (1762-1819) was a pupil of Katsukawa Shunsho, a establisher of Katsukawa-ha (Katsukawa school). He was famous for his yakusha-e, or ukiyoe of kabuki actors. His drawing lines were soft and elegant, and he depicted actors with bright colors and with a sense of humor. His ukiyoe influenced Sharaku, Toyokuni, and other ukiyoe artists.
