In writing these pages, the following books and articles have been useful.

• 中國語文表解大全 陳佳榮 莊澤義 通行出版

  These two books listed the 350 and 132+14 simplified characters. There were a few printing errors in the second book, but it provided information about the dates of the introduction of simplified characters in China. Also listed in these texts, but not here in these pages, is a list of 1732 simplified characters formed using the 132+14 components.

• 四體千字文 王羲之書 大業出版社

  The calligraphy came from this book for the characters 详 and 詳 .

• Papers in Chinese Linguistics and Epigraphy Chou Fa-Kao The Chinese University Press

  In particular was the paper entitled "5. A Comparative Study of the Simplified Characters as Used in Mainland China, Singapore and Japan", which lists the differences found in each locale, and for providing the date on which the Writing Reform Commitee published the simplified characters in China.

• Chinese Jerry Norman Cambridge

  This was particularly useful in outlining the main routes to simplification and for some information about the history of the Chinese script, in particular the information also on language reform.

• The World's Writing Systems P.T. Daniels and W. Bright Oxford

  In particular the articles on Chinese script by William G. Boltz, "Early Chinese Writing" and Victor Mair "Modern Chinese Writing".

• CJKV Information Processing Ken Lunde O'Reilly
• Unicode 3.0 The Unicode Consortium Addison Wesley
