Ishtar

Ishtar was the Goddess of war in ancient Assyria which is present day Syria. This Goddess was worshipped in Assyria before the Egyptian Pyramids were built. The stone tablet shown above shows the Goddess astride on her mount, a Lion and holding instruments of war with several hands, possibly five on each side. She is vanquishing the enemy who is standing near the mouth of the Lion.

The statue has remarkable similarity with the Goddess Durga who is also a Goddess of war and holds instruments of war in her ten hands.
