It's the time for yet another bungalow stay for the members of Buddhist Students' Society. Although the response was not very encouraging due to the fact that many ex-members could not get leave to attend, the fun and thrill of participants were never compromised.
Mr Lai prepared five Dhamma talks to disseminate the Dhamma to his beloved children. Some members were rather restless in Dhamma talks but most listened attentively and absorbed the Dhamma well. As usual, all bungalow stays are not complete without meditation sessions. Several members experience for the first time how it is like to meditate for 45 minutes instead of the usual 20 minutes in school.
The organising committee spent much effort on games and activities to keep the members entertained. On the free time, members interact and played games amongst themselves. The 'secret admirer' game keeps members excited throughout the stay. There was much laughter and teasing when the secret admirers were revealed and some getting a forfeit.
Without a doubt, Ms Khaw's absence was felt strongly. Although many tried to hide it, it was inevitable that his absence was to be mentioned, especially during the sharing session. Furthermore, a recorded Dhamma talk by Ms Khaw was played on the first night.
At the end of the stay, everyone has become richer in one aspect or another. Besides gaining more knowledge on the Dhamma, many have met new friends and foster closer friendship among themselves. Friends that, more often than not, last a lifetime.
