Lesson 4: What Forgiveness is Not

What Forgiveness Is Not

     Forgiveness is not condoning the act

     We forgive the soul, not the human ego which committed the act (the “Not Self”)

     Forgiveness is not absolution;
     we do not absolve people of their responsibility for their actions by forgiving them

     Forgiveness is not something we dole out when others meet our requirements for
     being forgiven

     You can’t say, “Now that you’ve apologized, I’ll forgive you.”

     Forgiveness has no requirements, no conditions

     Forgiveness comes not from your ego, but from your heart

     God’s forgiveness isn’t fickle;
     we make it so through our own judgments

     There is no forgiveness but God’s;
     we become his instrument when we choose to forgive

Forgiveness is an act of free will

     Forgiveness: Process of “Letting Go”

     Forgiveness is letting go of the intense emotions attached to incidents from our past

     Forgiveness is not the balancing of karma but the setting aside of karma

     We no longer want to punish or get even with those who hurt or wronged us

     Opportunity to balance karma through serving and helping others and through the
     violet flame (flame of compassion and mercy).
