Anyone could tell by the title that Sailor Moon is obviously the main character of the series. Her human-normal-teenager-when-she's-not-sailor-moon- name is Serena, or Usagi (for those of you Japanese viewers). Serena is the ditz of the story... She never does her homework, she's always late for everything, and she's a complete klutz. The whole ordeal starts when Serena finds a little black cat with a band-aid on its forehead on her way to school... she takes off the band-aid and there's a crescent moon underneath. Later in the first episode the cat jumps through Serena's window and introduces herself as Luna. Luna goes on to inform Serena of her destiny to become Sailor Moon and save the world from the Negaverse and to find and protect The Moon Princess.

"I am Sailor Moon, Champion of Justice! I will right all wrongs and triumph over evil... and that means you!"
Anyone who's seen Sailor Moon has heard this little speach a thousand times, and maybe more. Now as Sailor Moon, Serena isn't quite the klutz she was before (however she's not anywhere near perfect either). Basically she runs around killing nega-monsters and arguing with her future lover Darien when she's not in school. And one by one, she manages to find the other Sailor Scouts: Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus.


Later still, in a dramatic moment, we learn that Serena/Sailor Moon is The Moon Princess that they've been searching for, and Darien is Tuxedo Mask (or Tuxedo Kamen). We also learn that all the other scouts were Princesses of their own planets, all under the rule of the Moon in the Moon Kingdom... and that Prince Darien (prince on earth) and Princess Serena were engaged back on the moon. The Moon Kingdom had been destroyed by the Negaverse and Queen Serenity (Princess Serena's Mother) had sent all the princesses and Darien to be re-born on earth to protect the earth if the Negaverse ever attacked again. All was ok, until one day....
