There was a newspaper report yesterday saying that Alan Tam & Andy Lau had fallen out on each other due to Aug concerts slots in HK Coliseum. Alan is furious with the false report. He said Andy had applied the slot earlier & was willing to give him some dates. But as the dates were applied under Andy's company, Andy had to return the free dates to Coliseum before Alan could apply. Alan however was told there was no date available when he applied. Andy had actually helped him to find alternative venues for his concert because of this. He may now hold his concert in the Exhibition Hall...

8/4---V tired, want to rest, can or not? Andy

Gun-fight at Raffles Place MRT (by Andy Town)

I was still working on Sunday morning when my kind friend, Mok Eng, called me to the Raffles Place MRT station to see shooting. She was so kind to tell me to take the last section of the train so that when I came out I would come right into the shooting site. [Thanks alot, buddy!] With the greatest speed possible, I closed my clinic & boarded the MRT.

True enough....I bumped right into the shooting crew, ...& Andy was there!!

He wore black leather jacket, black leather pants, black gloves (fingers exposed), & a pair of retro pointed light blue boots. WAH!! Sooooo macho!! & he looked more fresh than anybody else! [Many were seen dozing off, after a whole night work...]

He was practising the pose, many many times. He was to look at his enemy, made a 360 degree turn, whipped out 2 revolvers thrusted at his back, one on each hand, down on his knees, & shoot bullets from both guns. Many takes were done, first without the shots, then with real gun-shots. He wore knee-guards as he had to bent down many times during the shooting. Despite working throughout the night before, he was smiling all the time when he was not shooting. But when he was shooting, he looked real serious, his eyes look darn fierce & piercing, & he was looking so professional with both guns on the hands....

Bet it is not easy to co-ordinate so many moves with both hands shooting in different actions. In between takes, he would came to the screen to see the result.

He was such a friend to all, he joked & laughed with all those working there. They called him ”„Wah zai.., that sounds like calling a close buddy..., both Johnni To & the younger crew members called him thus.

I was lucky as I was right behind the camera taking the shots, I had a good view of Andy... Many gun-shots were fired by Andy...BRAVO Andy!!....

A man whose wife was filming with Andy told me she was there since 8pm last night, she was supposed to be the head of the mafia, wanted to kill Andy but was killed by him instead. She wore long curly blonde hair, holding a silver gun pointing at Andy...

Later, more shots of Andy aiming his gun at the escalator were taken..

[Dear Joanne, the 2 ladies on the far right are Andy's sis & her daughter.]

Date: 9 Apr 01
Source: Shin Ming Daily News dated 8/4

Andy's elder sis who was married to S'pore visited Andy for the first time at his filming site last night at Raffles MRT station! She came with a teenage daughter.

She was warmly received by the crew who recognized her. Her profile from nose to lips to chin resembles Andy, v characteristic of Lau's family. She is of mild character, v polite & kept her smiles. When the crew asked if she stayed in Bedok, she replied "Shifted already!" She added that this is her first time visiting her brother since he came 4 days ago. Asked why, she answered that she is v busy, attending night classes?#034;

What course is she studying? She said," Children' study.." Her daughter beside her is almost as tall as her.

Asked if this is the first time she saw Andy this year, she answered, "No, had seen him during the Chinese New Year."

Andy was 'hiding' in the train coach filming, his sister sat at the side talking to friends, she did not appeared to be curious with what her brother was doing by craning her neck. She stayed from 9 till about 2 to 3 am in the morning.

Few hundreds of Andy's fans camped at Raffles Place Station till midnight refusing to leave!

Andy arrived at abt 9pm at the Station. This Killer, in an all black outfit, smiled & waved when he saw the reporter. When he came down the escalator, he was spotted by his fans who ambushed there. They screamed & rushed forward, one screamed, "I waited for 3 days already!"

"I shall take photo with you another day, okay?" Andy turned & talked to the fans in a friendly manner.

As he was talking, the crew stopped at the escalator & demonstrated to Andy some actions, looked as if there were the actions to be done for the filming, like chasing.

The reporter tried to take a photo, but was stopped by the crew on the spot. Despite clarifying his status, he was refused.

Light was up at abt 8pm, Andy disappeared into a forbidden area, while the other scenes were being shot.

This however did not deter the fans, many quickly bought tickets to enter the gate! Whenever Andy went they followed, the reporter followed up & down too, the scene at the station was like a chasing game up & down the escalator, the fans were too happy with the game, saying, "V exciting! Real fun!"

When Andy was filming inside a coach, the area was cordoned off, photo-taking was strictly forbidden, no one could get closer. Still this had not daunted those who wants to see Andy, by midnight, abt a hundred still refused to leave!

The actor who played the role of the manager of the Killer is Lin Xue, who acted in Wuyan. He acted as a bad guy with weird character. He refused his photo to be taken, as instructed.

The contractor who handles this production is Bizarts Creative. The co is v efficient, within a week it managed to get approval to film in the railway station & MRT station. The initial plan of filming for 2 to 3 weeks in Lion City may now shortened to abt 10 days.

The reporter was puzzled as to why photo-taking was not allowed. It was said to be because the movie company has drawn up their own promotional plan, they do not wish Andy's Killer's look or the scenes to be exposed too early.

Headline: Sky not co-operative in Lion City, Heavenly Lau hard to 'kill' people

Full Time Killer Andy Lau 'killed' people in Lion City, escaped to Marina South in a motorbike & collapsed among the bushes. As he already had some sickness, he was all pale & limp.

The above is one of the scenes taken from Andy's new movie You & I. This is the 3rd day of his filming in S'pore. In an all black outfit for the movie, he was interviewed by the reporter.

"Today I am filming a scene on what happened after I had completed a mission. I came here & collapsed in the bushes. In the movie I had some sickness, so the body was weak, the face was pale & ugly."

Accordingly, the crew was to set off to Sentosa in the early morning to shoot, but there was a sudden change of plan. The crew at abt 10 am set off instead to the tranquil field near Marina South to take scenes.

The sky however was not co-operative, it was laden with thick dark clouds & began to drizzle. The rain got heavier, the crew had no choice but to wait. Andy waited in the tent all this while.

He came out to try riding the bike around noon time. Under the directives of Johnni To, the crew started shooting. Andy had a few takes for the same scene.

It is the first time Andy acts with Takashi S, Andy commented he admires this Cool Guy. "There is no good or bad with acting skill, most important is the role must suit the actor. He is selected for this role means he is the most suitable person, there will be some sparks working with him."

Andy also indicated that he may go to Aaron Kwok's concert tonight (Aaron now in S'pore too) if he has time. He said two of them are friends privately. Andy said he likes to eat S'pore Hainanese chicken rice, Laksa & chilli crab are not bad too.

Andy added he will have a concert in HK in Aug, most probably followed by one in S'pore....

OUT FROM HIS HIDING PLACE

There was a mini S'pore workout at Raffles Place MRT station last night.

Why?

Because a gp of abt 50 youths were hot on the trail of HK star Andy Lau who was filming there.

Andy, 39, in a black ribbed T-shirt & black leather pants, slipped into the station thro' an exit door at abt 10:10pm.

Taking large strides, he rode down the escalator to the platform with his assistant.

With most of the filming here done at night, he looked a tad fair or was that the foundation make-up?

Occasionally, he turned to wave to the teenagers who called his name.

Then, he disappeared thro' the exit door again.

Abt 20 minutes later, he reappeared & went down to the MRT platform.

But he quickly slipped into a cordoned-off area inside the tunnel.

Meanwhile, the crowd had swelled to abt 150.

Many were curious onlookers who were clueless abt what was happening.

NTU graduate Lai Khai Yu, 23, who was there with 5 of his friends, was busy calling other friends in the Boat Quey area to get there quick.

Ms Sarah Ng, cooperate development executive, 28, who alighted from the opposite platform, decided to wait for a glimpse of the star.

But by the time the last train came at abt 12:05am, filming had yet to start.

But some sources told us they would be filming till abt 9am today.

Too bad we werent allowed to stay.

Afternoon Interview with Johnny To

....Heavenly King Andy Lau & Japanese Cool Guy Takashi Sorimachi landed in S'pore lately to film a movie. The period of stay is estimated to be around 8 to 10 days. Schedule for the shooting is v tight, shooting locations are being changed all the time, whereabouts of the crew are kept a top secret. No one is welcomed to visit the shootings. As such, Andy & Takashi fans have a hard time tracing them, it is a battle of wit & stamina, exhausting both body & mind...

This afternoon the reporter contacted Johnny To who was v busy shooting in Sentosa. He said, "The weather is no good, it is raining now, we are still waiting, not sure what time we can finish..."

When asked abt the filming schedule, Johnny laughed & said it is on Andy's part, asked abt Takashi, he replied, "He did not..." Is it there is no part for Takashi in the morning, or he had left S'pore...Director To "hummmm" answered, hard to find out the truth, the case is shrouded with the mystery of 'Killers'.

Over the phone, the reporter could hear him giving out directives to the crew, he appeared in a rush at this phone interview, after talking a few sentences he politely indicated that he is rushing to do shooting, have to hang up.

[Special thanks to Tcat, for source info. Thanks to you & your friends, Vicky, et al]

The exact whereabouts of the elusive Andy Lau seems to be the mystery the media trying to solve since this heavenly king touched down in S'pore on Monday.

Well, I actually had the pleasure of spending the night with the man himself....albeit from a distance. It was a hive of activity there, with curious passers-by actually staying on till the wee hours of the morning to catch a slice of the action.

Even when the whole project was guarded with tight-lipped secrecy, a handful of fans still managed to hunt him down & waited patiently along the river to catch a glimse of the idol.

When I last saw Andy at about five in the morning, he still kept his smiles going.

And that's what I call a professional idol.

Headline: What's Andy Lau doing at Boat Quay?

[special thanks to Margaret Tan for the source info]

SUPERSTAR Andy Lau may look like he just strolled in for a drink (right), but he's actually hard at work at his first location shoot after arriving in Singapore yesterday.

And the film crew for the movie, Quan Zhi Sha Shou (Professional Killer), kept such a tight lid on news that few suspected Andy, 39, would be at Harry's Bar at Boat Quay last night.

Earlier, there was a great deal of confusion over Andy's time of arrival, locations for filming as well as which hotel he would check into.

Fans who chose to wait for Andy at the airport as early as 6am yesterday were disappointed.

But student Ferrin Tan, 18, who was at Boat Quay, can count herself lucky.

She gushed: "Andy Lau just walked past me. I am so happy. At first, I didn't know that it was him until my friend told me."

Ferrin was so excited that she called her friend immediately, but her friend didn't believe her.

Added kitchen assistant, Ken Swee, 23: "Andy's very good-looking and it's my first time seeing him in person."

However, it wasn't easy tracking Andy down.

When contacted, director Johnny To politely said he was very busy and hinted they would be shooting at some hor bin chan tang (Cantonese for restaurant by the river).

But we took a guess and staked out Boat and Clarke Quay.

Bingo! At about 12.30am, we spotted the film crew preparing for a scene at Harry's Bar.

We saw Andy at about 1.15am, sitting at a table and chatting with some crew members.

In a white T-shirt and black pants, the charismatic actor appeared energetic and in a good mood, laughing and joking with the rest.

Later he read intently from a blue file that probably contained his script.

Then, a group of fans asked for a picture with him which he obliged with a broad smile.

By then, there were already about 20 people sitting at nearby tables, gawking at the actor.

Later, Andy disappeared into the bar.

Inside, I spotted Andy taking a breather and asked if we could take pictures of the filming.

He said apologetically: "For the pictures, you really have to ask the people in charge."

What about candid shots? Andy smiled: "As long as I don't see you taking it."

Later, a crew member told me that they did not allow us to take pictures but we was free to observe the shoot.

Finally at about 3.30am, Andy re-emerged in a purple jacket and black pants for the filming of a scene outside the bar.

Now, to find out where they are going for their next shoot!

Hongkong superstar Andy Lau breezed into town yesterday evening for about 10 days of location shooting for his next movie, Professional Killers, which is being directed by Johnny To. Despite attempts by Life! and other media to contact Lau, a spokesman for NMG Entertainment, his recording label here, told Life! that the 39-years-old-star was tight-lipped about his flight details and itinerary in Singapore. "Only his personal assistant is privy to these details," the spokesman said. She added that the secretive star was scheduled originally to arrive in the afternoon, after which he would proceed directly to an undisclosed location for shooting.

However, he changed his flight at the 11th hour in a bid perhaps to foil waiting fans at Changi International Airport. Apart from Hongkong and Singapore, the film which also stars sultury Hongkong singer Karen Mok [HUH??]and Japanese hearthrob Takashi Sorimachi, will be shot in Malaysia and Thailand. The movie mars the first collaboration between Mok and Lau's management company, TeamWork. The 2 parties recently agreed on terms for a 3-year contract reputedly worth HK$30 million (S$6.9 million), in which TeamWork will manage Mok's singing and acting career. [HUH??}

Besides acting, Lau recently released a new album, Melody Andy Vol.8 last month.

Andy Lau had given his signature to a petition for disapproval to the change of a word used in the Smart Identity Card to be used in HK from year 2003.

There is a dispute in the use of the letter 'fen' in Identity card (shen fen zheng). The currently used 'fen' means identity, the new word used 'fen' denotes 'class'. Though it is an old chinese character, it is not favoured as it can mean 'casting' in a society. The move was started by some persons in the media circle.

Andy when contacted agrees with the motion.

To celebrate HK filmmakers win in Oscar Awards, HK govt is holding a celebration dinner on the 11 of April. Andy is invited to attend as he was the producer of the movie Made In HK which had won an international award before. Andy regretted that he was not able to attend as he will be in Singapore for the filming of You & I. He had informed the organiser.

Yesterday Andy attended Chinese Culture Cup held at a hotel. He was conferred the title 'Chong Hua Culture Ambassador' by The World Outstanding Chinese Foundation. A book on Chinese culture was launched at the same time.

A simple but solemn ceremony was held to give out the book to the higher institutions in HK. The chairman presented Andy with the certificate. Andy said humbly that he is still not up to the standard to be an ambassador. He shall improve to reach the requirements.

A quiz on general knowledge of Chinese culture was also held. Andy was quizzed on the spot by the host. He was asked the official capital of Tibet. Andy gave the right answer of Lhasa. The host complimented that he is indeed an undisputable ambassador. Andy pretended to wipe away cold sweat on his forehead, to the audience laughter!

Andy said he will continue to study to improve his knowledge. His said his knowledge comes mainly from story books & movies so may not be accurate, he urges the students to learn from books.

He had flipped thro the book, he read that if all the Chinese were to hold hands, they can go round the world 40 times! He said the book may take only half an hour to read, but it takes many hours to remember the facts!

Proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the Foundation.

Filmed commercials on thousands steps in Huang San, Andy's hands not shaky in writing calligraphy (Apple Daily)

Andy turned poetic in Huang San (Ming Pao)

Andy had just come back from Huang San in Mainland China. He was there to film a new series of green tea commercial.

On the first day of his 3-day journey, there was cable-car to bring him up the hill. But the next 2 days for 8 hours or so everyday, he had to climb thousands of steps up & down the mountain to take scenes, with the aid of a walking stick. It was very exhausting. Andy said he never climbed so many steps in his life before, after this journey, he wont want to climb any more hill except Kadoli hill where his house is!

The scenery is very beautiful. Liu Haisu a 91-yr old famous artiste had wanted to go up 10 times in his life but was too old to acconmplish the mission. Li Bai the famous poet had written many beautiful poems there. Andy became poetic too with the scenery. He wrote on his walking stick, with steady hands, 'Ascend Huang San, a group of ten, experience sweet bitter hardship' [...lost the taste when tranlated by me, sorry..].

The temp was v cold, Andy didnot bring enough warm clothing, he had to borrow thermals from the crew to keep himself warm.

Lunch was served in nice colorful plastic containers. At first, Andy was v excited with the box, but there was only rice & a few beans inside! Luckily meat was included the next day, said Andy.

The crew rested in between the tedious ascent, Andy claimed green tea gave them energy & quench their thirst. It was v refreshing. It is no wonder Andy is a hot fave for commercials!

When he reached hotel everyday, he would called for foot massage to relieve the aches from the climb.

Andy said he had taken many photos, one of which will be used as cover for the new album, & maybe he will write a peom for each photo!

There were only 4 security guards in Huang San, with arrival of superstar, 3 were deployed to protect him. Andy admired them the most as they could walk & climb v fast without panting, Andy said in Huang San nobody dare to commit crime, as these people can move v fast!
