Andy Lau had lost Media Award by a mere one vote & was not able to retain the trophy. But Andy who is magnanimonous is not affected in his mood, he appears as cheerful. On rumours that it was because CR gave him an egg that caused the lost of award, Andy said it is not right to put the blame on any organisation as each has its own yardstick.

Andy admitted that at one point he thought he could get the Media Award, as he alreday had 10 & an additional Lyric Writing Award, without knowing that the latter award was not included. But Andy said he is not upset as he has gotten many internatiuonal awards & is satisfied.

Fu Min Xia was an award presenter on RTHK music awards ceremony, Andy admitted he had talked to her. Fu had denied signing up with another managerial company. Andy said his advice to her is purely on ground of friendship & not to sign her, he prefers her to complete her studies first before venturing into entertainment circle.

Small Black Ko Shou Liang was diagnosed to have firast stage of Lymphoma. Andy said he will visit him in TW in February, they had contacted thro' phone, as it was early stage, treatment is possible. He & Ko are old pals & get along well.

Kelly Chen said the most surprised thing for her was the song I Dont Love U Enough was crowned Most Popular Song In The Country.

She is v thankful to Andy for giving her the opportunity to sing the duet. This song had won her many awards, though it was half but it added up to a lot. Asked if she will duet with Andy again? She said the chance is not high, as it has lack freshness.

Sammi depends on Needing You to get awards

Sammi with her song 'Love Line' won 2 awards in RTHK music awards. She admitted her good results this year on music awards all goes to the movie Needing You. She wishes to thank the movie dirctor & Andy Lau.

Metro Radio organised a charity team yesterday to distribute food vouchers to the needies. The station has specially invited World OYP Andy Lau to lead the volunteers in oath taking in its inauguration . Nancy Seet & James Wong were the team leaders. Andy despite lost in Media Award, appeared spirited. He was enthusiastic with the volunteering work. But he compared volunteering work to music awards, he said one puts in a lot but reaps little, doing volunteer work has a additional advantage in no matter how much one puts in , one seldom loses, not so in music awards. Abt 30 over AWC menbers joined the team. Actually Andy has taken part in such activities since his secondary schol days.

Jacky Cheung had finally accepted Golden Pin award given by RTHK. At first he thought the award was for those who opt not to accept any more awards or those who plan to retire so he refused to accept it, now he realises the award is for those who have contributions to music so he accepted it happily.

Actaully I am quite satisfied with the overall performance this year, in movies Needing You & AFB, in music from Man Cry Is No Crime to I Dont Love U Enough & the latest When I Meet You & others, I feel that these representative songs are above standard, esp the performance by fans make me really proud.

23rd RTHK 'Top 10 Chinese Gold Songs Awards' ceremony was held at HK Coliseum last night . A total of 67 awards, more than Metro Radio, were given out. 11 Gold Songs were awarded, Leslie Cheung had opted not to receive awards, Nic Tse's song was thus included as the 11th.
The outcome was suspected to be 'meat-diving', not only 2 singers shared the Bronze award in 'Fei-yue' Award, 3 singers shared the coveted Media Award, setting a new record in history.

Eason Chan, Kelly Chen & Faye Wong each with the most nos of awards, 11, won the Media Award. Andy with a total of 10 awards from the 4 stns (zero fron CR), failed to retain the Media Award title, after winning it past 2 years.

Andy had filmed an MTV for his new song Deep Blue recently. He was dressed up in Southern cowboy ensemble. This look however clashes with Leon Lai's latest commercial look for a Beijing square. Leon too was dressed up as a cowboy.

When told abt this, Andy said it doesnt matter. He joked that clash in look or dress can be a topic to laugh abt, it brings some fun to all.
Andy had bought this cowboy attire from American few years ago, he spent a 5-digit sum to buy the antique cowboy hat, as he likes it v much. The leather suit including the pointed cowboy shoes were specially tailored. Andy felt the attire suits the fast-paced song Deep Blue just nice! The actual expensive stuff are actually the accessories: the ring, belt & chain are from 'Chrome Heart', a total of $80,000, these are his fave & he had kept them for many years!

19/1---Hurried back to HK from Beijing, immediately went to office for monthly general meeting, the staff asked lot of questions, also solved many problems, hope the co can run smoothly!

Jacky Cheung has a record of 51 awards in the 22 yr-history of RTHK annaul music awards, amongst all the 152 singers. The last music awards for Year 2000, '23rd Top 10 Chinese Gold Songs Awards' by RTHK will be held tonight.
Jacky Cheung has refused to accept Golden Pin Award, instead he has requested to compete in the other awards. This sudden move has upset RTHK awards. The hot contender for Media Award Andy Lau may be affected, with a lesser chance to get more awards. This in turn will put Eason Chan in a better position to get Media award.

Awards ceremony will be held tonight at HK Coliseum, with the announcement of Media Award.
Accoding to reliable souce, RTHK is thrown into chaos with Jacky's sudden refusal. From previous years, singers who were conferred Golden Pin Award are either senior in the circle, are retiring or are with declining popularity, so Jacky would rather accept a Golden Song Award then Golden Pin award. RTHK had decided to award Jacky with Golden Pin so as to give more chance to other singers, but this plan is now shattered, the record companies are having a headache too, as nos of awards singers get will also be affected.

In Bejing Channel V Awards 2 days ago, Jacky said he alreday knew it would be him one day after seeing Anita Mui with the award, but he has not expected the award to come yet. If it is time for it, he will have to be mentally prepared first. Looks like Jacky does not wish to retire yet. This in turn will affect Andy Lau as Jacky is the one who competes with him in many awards.

Eason Chan is leading Andy Lau in medal tally at the moment. Though Andy Lau had won Media Award a few times from RTHK in previous years, Jacky's decision is unfavourable for Andy Lau, this in turn gives Eason Chan a better chance. Other singers such as Coco, Joey may be kicked out of Top 10 Gold Songs too.

RTHK for the first time collaborated with the various music stations in Beijing, Guangzhou, HK, TW, S'pore, M'sia, etc to hold 'World Mandarin Top of Pops Chart'. 15 songs for the First Seasonal Selection were announced today (18/1). HK singers occupy 7 seats, Faye Wong alone has 3 songs on the chart.

Chan Pao Chu has denied she had contacted Andy to sign up her son. Andy Lau siad he is helping Yang Tian Jin as a friend, details are being worked out, the contract has not been signed yet. He wants to work out plan on how to help him first, Andy reminded Yang that all things do not materialise in a day, even if he is Chan's son, he may be compard to Nic Tse, who actually took 4 yrs to see results.
Andy plans to sign up yang for 5 yrs with 3 yrs of fixed contract. It is only by this way that a newbie may be trained. He has seen Yang's perormances & thinks he is a 'good person'.
Andy actually has wish to cooperate with all the male artistes in movies, such as tailoring scripts for Leon Lai, Jacky Chan, Jacky Cheung, or Stephen Chow.

Regarding Na Yin being chided by Mainland reporters & became unhappy, Andy said he always has similar experiences & he takes it easy after that. On Ko Shou Liang who is suspected to have lymphoma Andy said he had told him to call him when the report is out.

17/1---Wah! Came to Beijing early in the morning, so....cold! The scene along the way is all snow, but it really very 'leng' (meaning: beautiful)
Today attended an award ceremony, v happy! Other than getting awards, also because many singers attended, from China, TW & HK, v busy!

Organised by Central TV & HK Channel V, 'New Millennium World's Mandarin Music Tops Of The Tops' music awards ceremony was held last night 7:30pm at Beijing Century Theatre . 30 over singers from Mainland & HK, including Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, Faye Wong, Nic Tse, Na Yin, William So, Kelly Chen, attended. 200 over reporters were present at this grand occasion.

Andy Lau emerged big winner of the night with 2 1/2 awards.
He was crowned Most Popular Singer. His song Man Cry Is No Crime & I Dont Love U Enough were 2 of the Top 20 songs.

Jacky Cheung & Faye won Outstanding Male & Female HK Singer awards, Leon Lai & Kelly Chen won Asia Charismatic Male & Female Singer awards.

A press con was held in the afternoon, but no time slot was given for reporters to ask questions. During gp photo taking, Jacky Cheung stood in the center, but the other King Andy Lau was arranged to stand at the side with Kelly. Kelly was later called to stand in the center, leaving Andy alone at the side. Luckily Andy soon found Stanly Tang to continue talking to!

16/1---Weather was colder today, actually should start work at 10am, but changed to noon to start, could sleep a few more hours.
Filmed MTV for the Cantonese album, went to an empty wareshouse. Wah! the palce had not been visited for a long long time, during dancing, dust created made all of us grey, v dirty!
Luckily work was smooth, could stop work in the evening, but I had to go for meeting! 11 over pm, the meeting is still not over, okay, good nite!

'2000 Critics Movie Awards' by HK Movie Critics Association announced its winners yesterday, award ceremony will be held in Palanet Hollywood on 13 Feb.
Francis Wu was voted Best Actor, Best Actress goes to a newcomer in Durian Piao Piao. Best Director is In The Mood For Love Wang Jia Wei, Yuan He Peng was given Special Award for his work in Crouching Tiger H D
6 movies were on the recommendation list: Nobody Drives, Crouching Tiger H D, In The Mood For Love, Juliat & Liang Shan Pou, Jiang Hu Guo Ji (?) & Needing You.

Result for the Best Actor category is the most out of expectations. Though Francis Wu is a good actor, his winning with movie AD 2000 is a surprise as his part in the movie is not much. He acted only in a few scenes. His good acting has surpassed Aaron Kwok who was the main lead in the promo of the movie. After 7 hous of debate & 3 rounds of voting, Francis Wu finally won the title by beating Andy Lau with one vote in the third round of voting.

15/1---After the award ceremony last nite, login to the net, saw many people congratulated me, also many asked why I dont sing live, actually I also dont know the reason, but just dont like to sing live for them, I wont be bothered what the outsiders may think, most importantly are my members, I only answer to friends who like me & supported me, when there is a chance, let us talk abt this in the next meetings!

After the TVB Awards ceremony 2 nights ago, singers & staff were transported by coaches to the celebration party. Before the singers arrived at the hotel, fans who love Andy had already reached there in a chartered bus, they chopped the front row to welcome Andy with banners & light stickes. They cheered in support & congratulated him for winning many awards.

Andy was happy with the results. With less time last year for singing & concentrated more on filming, Andy thought he could only win a Gold Song award, he is thankful for the support from all & the media. He hopes to put in more time this year & produce good work.

Andy said atmosphere of the Awards ceremonies in previous years was always v tense, singers were uptight & not talking to one another. This year everyone appeared at ease. He kept talking to the others. He asked Tony Leung who was seated beside him, "Why are you here?" Tony replied, "I come to get Most Popular Singer Award!" The 2 laughed heartily together!

When Kelly dress was caught in Sammi's chair, Andy helped to release it.

It was said Sammi was unhappy with the result so did not go to the party, Andy was asked if he consoled her. Andy said she appeared to be in good mood.

The 20 nominees of Miss Chinese Beauty Pageant who were at the ceremony joined the party. These beauties who are usually poised appeared to loss their cool on seeing their idols. They came prepared with own cameras & were busy taking photographs. It caused chaos at the party.

Andy at a sudden was surrounded by 10 over beauties, he appeared loss too. A survey shows 9 beauties love Andy, 6 love Aaron.

. This was out of Andy's expectationms, at the backstage, he practised the song a few times. As this is a charity song with cash donated by kind persons, Andy wanted to sing it well. It was Leslie Cheung's song, he tried to sing like Leslie. Despite peeping at the paper, comment was that he sang v well.

14/1---Stayed at home the whole afternoon, conserved energy, preparing for tonite's awards ceremony.
Able to get Asia Pacific Most Popular Male Singer award again, really v happy! This proves many years of hardwork is recognised & supported by all, thank you all of you!

2000 Top 10 JSG Music Awards ceremony was held last night at the Coliseum with much splendour. 43 awards were given out, as usual in TVB music awards, it was a happy occasion, almost all attended had award/s, none went home empty-handed.

Andy Lau & Kelly Chen emerged big winners of the night. Andy Lau garnered 4 awards: Asia Pacific Most Popular Male Singer, Most Popular Mandarin Song (Gold, Not Loving U Enough), Gold Song (When I Met You), & Most Popular Charity Duet Song.
Aaron Kwok, winner of last year Most Popular Male Singer in AP, won Most Popular Male Singer. Kelly Chen won Most Popular Female Singer Award & Faye Most Popular Female Singer in AP Award.

Andy was v jovial & joked with the hosts all the time. He was visibly relaxed nowadays. When he received his last award as AP Most Popular Male Singer, he joked that he forgot to thank TVB earlier on & hoped that wont affect his results in the upcoming year. He said when he saw PA circled him when the result was announced, he knew the winner was him!

In the closing number, the hosts invited all the singers to the stage to sing with Miriam Yuen who had won JSG Gold Song. Faye left early, other singers were talking on the stage, only Andy Lau, Kelly & Aaron sang along with Miriam.

13/1---Time really flies, soon will be Lunar New Year again!
Still in TW today, recorded prg for TV stn, though this year New Year I wont be in TW, because AFb will be shown during the New Year, TW friends will be able to see me v soon. Night time back to HK, continue to be busy with work.

Andy attended another recording of New Year prg yesterday in TW. He had a lot of surprises. The organiser specially showed him a TV footage of an interview of him by Tian Niu 14 yrs ago. Andy was seen wearing dark glasses & a tattered pair of jeans with sneakers. Host Lan Xin Mei was quick to chide him, "You were so bumpkin!" Andy said Tian Niu make-up was like Anita Mui. At this moment, 'secret guest' Tian Niu appeared. Andy was shocked to see her as he was not mentally prepared, they had not met for 10 over yrs.

The organiser took great trouble to arrange for the meeting, they contacted Chow Dan Wei, good friend of Tian Niu. Tian was called from Beijing to come specially for this meeting. Tian said she had never been a 'secret guest' before, it was 'torturing' as she had to hide in the studio for 2 hours, & she had only water to drink!

When Tain saw Andy, she exclaimed, "Hi Boss!"
Lan Xin Mei was v puzzled. Actually the TV prg shot by Tian Niu in Beijing was produced by nmg. Tian called Andy so sweetly, Lan Xin Mei was all envious, "If you have any role that I can help, & if I can act with you, I dont need money, my figure is superb, if only can act with you, dont need to pay me..."

Old pal Tian Niu & Lan Xin Mei, all wanted to film his movies, Andy was too glad, he held both by the hands & sang Love U 10,000 Yrs. When Andy sang the phrase, 'I Love U, Love U 10, 000 Yrs...' with emotion, Lan Xin Mei replied, "I will try to live that long la..."

Tian remembered that 20 yrs ago, when her sis Tian Ni was filming with Andy, she visited her in the stodio. At that time, she alreday felt 'This guy, so handsome...' The two had never met for 10 over yrs, but Tian Niu has always respected Andy for his professionalism & perseverance.
At the end of the show, Tian Niu introduced Chao Dan Wei to Andy. Choa was all flushed when eye-to-eye with Andy.
"Wah, now I know Chow Dan Wei has been in love with Andy for 10 over yrs!" Tian now knows the idol in Chow's heart is actually Andy Lau. Chow admitted that she likes Andy but never has a chance to film movie with him. That was the first time she met Andy, under this arrangement she could chat & had photo taken with Andy the first time!

Andy was absent in TVB JSG award ceremony rehearsal yesterday as he was in TW.
He attended BMG Year End party & contributed $160,000 to the lucky draw. Finally everyone was a winner & everyone is happy!
Regarding the rumour that he will get AP Most Popular Singer award, Andy said leave it to fate, he has won amny awards in the music circle, he is very satisfied, any award is a bonus to him.

On AFB box-ofice result which overtook CSF, other than happy, Andy is v thankful to those who appreciate the movie, he felt that the 2 movies shouldn't be compared , any good productions with sincerity will bear result.

Aaron & Norika F were in TW for the premiere & rumoured to fall for each other. Will Andy bring T Tokiwa to TW too? Andy said he hopes T Tokiwa can come to TW, esp since she likes to eat spicy hot steamboat.

In TW TV prg, Andy was forced into agreeing marrying Lan Xin Mei. Lan Xin Mei called him 'lao-gong' (husband) & said she wont mind the status just to be his wife! Andy joked that for nothing he won a wife in TW! Lan treated Andy with sausages & suggested that these 'symbolic items' will boost that organ. Andy in turn teased her with eating eggs to boost 'that one...'!

Yu Ge Xian was in HK for the movie premiere of Chong Wu Yuan, she was spotted by the reporters, she said she came to shop in HK, asked if she will watch AFB, she said she had no time as she is going back to TW. Asked if TeamWork were to seek her in filming, will she accept? She said she wont mind...

12/1---Flew to TW early in the morning, the schedule was v tightly packed, but the main aim is to attend BMG Year End party, though not as grand as in HK, only abt 20 over tables, there was lucky draw, it was v busy! Now co business is down compapred to previous years, but the co still hold such a big party, believe it is to thank the staff for effort put in this year, & hope next year can get better result.

Tao Yuan airport in Taipei was v busy yeaterday. After the popular J-pop gp V6 arrived, Andy arrived from HK.

The usual transport used by Andy when he is in TW, driven by 'Papa Bear', called Heavenly car, was used to fetch V6. BMG booked another car for Andy at the last minute. But after a day travelling in it, Andy was not comfortable. Luckily BMG managed to take back the car from V6 today after some negotiations.

Andy looks v cheerful. He just had a celebration party in HK, & box-office for his movie AFB has hit 20+ mil, this movie will be shown in TW sometime in Feb. Andy will come for the premiere.

Andy has scheduled fully packed in his 48 hours in TW, he went for a TV prg called 'Super Millionaire' in the afternoon, & attended BMG Year-end dinner to give out angpaos.

Andy is not bad in his cooking, simple dishes, fried rice, he knows all. But he is so busy, to taste his cooking is harder than striking lottery. Yesterday, in Super Millionaire, Andy displayed his culinary skill. Host Lan Xin Mei invited some children to be the judges. She was v jovial, before Andy prepared the food, he asked the children, "Can Andy be my husband?" The children answered, "Yes!" Lan followed, "Then I shall ask my husband to prepare food for you to eat!"

Andy was treated to 5 new year dishes by the organiser. Before Andy started, Lan looked at the menu & teased, "This one is good!" The dish was called 'Red Robe Chilli Hot Babe Mixed Together'. Lan explained, "This dish is Andy sleeping at night wearing red robe & mixing with hot babe." The audience roared with laughter.
In the second dish, it was 'live oyster with mushroom', Lan said, "Good tonic for 'that one'...." Also, there were sausage & intestine, Lan again said, "Also good tonic for 'that one'..." Andy in turn replied her humorously,"Yes, not enough, need hen's egg mixed with duck's egg!"
" ya, those 2 eggs are v important....!" Lan blushed & exclaimed.

Multi-talented Andy next prepared dishes for the audience. He chopped up egg, vege, dried tofu, ham, etc into strips & arranged them neatly on the plate. He called it 'Full House Of Gold'. He said to mix up this dish, chopstickes cannot be used, he rolled up his sleeve, put on gloves & mixed the food up with source & vineger. .
He asked, "Lan Xin Mei, do you want to try?" He then scooped up a handful of the mixed up food & stuffed into Lan Xin Mei's mouth. Lan was so pleased & praise Andy.
Many yelled, "I want, I want.."luckily the fans were separated by a big round table, otherwise not only the dish is savored, maybe Andy will be srtipped too.
The children wanted to eat too, they asked Andy questions & Andy will do what they want him to if he cannot answer.

One child asked what is the zodaic sign of Barbis doll, another asked: when the mokey scratch, what is it that it scratches?. Andy failed to answer both questions. The last question was asked by a child having the same name as Leslie Cheung. Andy had no choice but to kiss this 'Leslie'! One girl asked Andy,"I have freckles on my face, would you mind me? you have to tell the truth, dont hurt me." Andy had a good laugh, he answered sincerely, "I will definitely like you."

Andy had no time for lunch since his arrival, the food in the prg was just nice for him, all the food finished as the prg ended.

What is Andy wish for the new year? To marry? have babies? Andy said he has a small wish, he wishes to grow a bit fatter on the face. so he will look nicer on cameras & TV.
