Congratulations to Andy for winning Golden Bauhinia BEST ACTOR Award!!

HK Movie Association which is comprised of 9 big HK movie organisations such as Directors Assn, Wushu Assn, Cinematography Assn, etc, held a party last night at Tsim Sha Tsui Ocean Palace Restaurant. The banquet of 105 tables was paid for by Jacky Chan.

Attendees included Andy Lau, Anita Mui, Eric Tseng, Zhang Ziyi, Derek Yee, Tsui Hark, Chao Tat Hua, et al. Shi Jian who was wheel-chair bound was present too, Andy Lau was most caring, he wheeled him around.

The aim of the party was to have better communication, strive for the rights of workers, & mutual agreement not to antagonise one another or stage strike.

5 movie awards were given out. Jacky Chan won Honorary Award. President of the association was also elected. Andy felt that he has not much time so he would not contest for the post. But he is a committee member of Artistes Association.

Jacky Chan while filming Rush Hour II in HK was blackmailed a sum of HK$500,000. The case had been solved by HK police. Andy commented maybe it was because the movie was done by a Western comapny, & Jacky had applied for closure of roads. He joked that no one will come to extort a movie filmed by Chinese . When he was filming You & I at the next street, he was not extorted, added he is lucky as he has never met with such problems before. He praised HK police for their efficiency.

'308 Plan', launched on 8th of March, is a tactic used by record companies to counter piracy, all the promotional activities for albums are stopped for a period of 2 months. All albums release have thus been postponed.

The only one who is neither avoiding nor hiding is Andy Lau, in this quite period, he releases his Tian Ma Sing kung compilation album.

Tian Ma Sing Kung, penned by Andy himself, is the song Andy sang for his motorcycle commercial released in Mainland China. Andy had filmed a MTV riding the motorcycle. It is a pity that because of 308, this MTV cannot be seen on TVs. The title of song implies that he is constantly seeking creation, there is no limitations to his thoughts, more creative thinking can then arise. Said he, "If man has never thought of walking on the moon, how can there be invention of spacecraft?"

This album compilation comprises 25 songs from the 7 albums released from '98 to year 2000, in addition to Tian Ma Sing Kung.

The album will be promoted by nmg & distributed by BMG.

Though Andy is in HK, he is concerned with happenings in TW, When told abt 308, the workers who all know Andy is most scared of mouse & injection, asked if an injection can prevent piracy, will he take the needle? Andy without hestitation replied he is most willing to get the immunisation if it can prevent piracy!

Another of Andy's new Mandarin is slated for release in June.

20/3---Woke up before dawn today to film the new movie, really not quite wish to leave....this bed of mine, so turned & tossed for 1/2 an hour before I got up to wash.
Went to the scene, the workers already started filming, dont think I am late, just that havent reached my part, the workers just wanted to give me more time to rest.

...This makes the author, Feng Ren Siou, thinks of Andy again. Andy set up TeamWork years ago, both staff & management had problems, the author had advised him many times to be careful with people & with money, but Andy is too kind-hearted, he is not suited to do business.
The author had advised him to wind up, but Andy was stubborn, finally the company lost few millions. It took him few years to pay back the debt. Now he is launching the company again, the author hopes he can be more careful, dont repeat the same mistake, a person may not have so many millions to lose!

Takashi Aniki Jin who is the spokesman for Ericsson handphone in TW is rumoured to be the new spokesman for the product in HK, replacing Andy Lau, according to a reliable source by The Sun.

Aniki is gaining popularity in Asia-Pacific, with his ever- changing bubbly young look, managed to clinch the million-dollar commercial.
Ericsson has revamped company management, & decided to standarise its spokesman for TW & HK. Ericsson, when contacted, refused to divulge the news, saying it is trade secret.

The relationship between Andy & Dicky is like 'Buddha & Monkey-god'. After Dicky has signed up with Andy's nmg co, his future lies in the hands of Andy. Andy said, "Dicky's new progress is in movies, he is a terrific comic actor, he can make you laugh till you tears come out."
Andy ever filmed Duke of Mountain Deer before with Tony Leung, compared to Y2K Wei Xiao Pao acted by Dicky, Andy felt that requirement for different period of time is different. To put Dicky's acting in his time is impossible, if Andy were to act with Dicky now as the emperor, Andy will be over-shadowed by him!

Golden Bauhinia Awards is now over. Andy Lau, Chao Tat Hua were conferred Best Actor & Life Time Achievement Awards, this has become beautiful news, because both of them have contributed a lot to the movie industry, from Buddha Palm, Time Of Romance, till AFB today is the same! They bring us good entertainment, & creat jobs & wage-earning for many, the awards are consoling acknowledgement of their previous work!
Uncle Hua had filmed 600 over movies, he toiled day & night at the filming site, though no outstanding movies of note, at least he brought us happiness, his righteousness, respect to elders & teachers, punish the evil & award the right have great influence on the young, guiding them positively!
Andy has filmed 100 movies, has made piles of money for the movie co, ha has given opportunity to many newcomers to become famous. He is still keen to carry on filming, he wants to sing & dnace, alos stage a musical, his road is long, he is still moving on, maybe one day he will be in the Oscar!
Be it Uncle Hua or Lau Tat Hua, 100 or 600 0r 1,000, as long as you put in effort, you reap reward! Lately the govt releases memorial stamps for artistes, in living these artistes received awards, after death, they are still remembered. Fellow artistes, work hard!

19/3---With the happiness from last nite, returned to office, the staff held a small celebration for me, v simple, only open champagne, they drew a greeting card for me, also written on it their wishes, full of concern!
They stressed that one of the staff has v good handwriting.
Haha...haha...

21st Century Handsome & Talented Awards

Award ceremony for 21st Century Handsome & Talented was held on the 15th of Mar at Central, Exchange Bar. Of the 8 recepients, 7 are from rich & reputed families with good educational background, some are overseas graduates, as young as 20+, all born with silver spoons.

Andy Lau is the only one not descendent of a rich family, also not with high educational background. But with his outstanding career achievements, he has received attention of many. His position as an IT entrepreneur was recognised & selected, not because he is a singer or an actor. His success is not measurable by his age or educational background.

Said Andy, "On conditions, I think I rank lowest among the 8 in terms of family background, I belong to a middle-income family, but coming to interest, I score the highest, my career development is not bad, artistic talent is also highest, I am v happy with the award."

Andy compared himself alike horse specis, he belongs to one with good gene or specis.

Fanny Ma, Ball Queen of The Century, was invited to be the award presenter. Each winner was presented with a Longines watch costing tens of thousands.

Whenever Andy goes, 'Hwa wind' follows, the moment he entered the hall, he was the object of attention, even his interview was specialy arranged, he was interviewed next to the stage by the press, & upstairs by digital media.

Fanny Ma praised highly of Andy, she commented Andy is most representative, he is talented, hardworking, enthusiastic with work, he is representatiove of his line.

When asked to comment on Rosumund Kwan new-found love Wang Jia Jou (a model, that appeared in Andy's MTV Who Knows, & was the model for this function), who is 8 yr younger than her, Andy refused to comment. He quoated the phrase given by Tony who was pressed on his estranged relationship with Carina Lau, "I am acting for movie, not for news."

On the movie You & I, the female role has not been decided. Andy said selection is done by the director, he is not sure.

Johnny To when contacted, denied that Sammi Cheng was selected for the role before, as it involves some action scene, he is considering Lin Xin Rei. (She is a Taiwanese who had acted with Andy in Conman in Vegas)

18/3---'Golden Bauhinia Best Actor Award', never had I thought of getting it, because the opponents were too strong.
Attended the award ceremony tonite, actually was because I, working as a movie person, should give more support to HK movie & participate, of course also hope my movie can be in one of the Top 10.
So when the it was announced that I am the Best Actor, really dazed...., that happiness is hard to describe!
All in all, I feel that I can get this award, is because of the support given by everyone, thank you!
17/3---Today together with 600 over AWC members from different countries chatted for a whole afternoon....Last nite was drizzling non-stop. The venue for the gathering this time, half of it is in the open-air, the workers were all worried the rain will continue till today.
Luckily the sky was helpful, today it was a bright sunny day, & sun was even too strong ....the weather suddenly turned v hot, this made the members somewhat unhappy. I noticed this, really feel apologetic.
Luckily everyone supported me, saw that everyone was so happy together, I feel a bit better inside...
So I shared with all the latest song I wrote the day before at the earliest hour...
Those not at he scene today, have to wait later to listen....
16/3---V busy the whole day today, busy writing lyrics & songs for the new album, but not quite smooth going, wrote lyrics for one song, changed here & there....still not v satisfied. So came out of the room to joke with the staff. After that, still could not think of anything to write. To write a song, it is not that easy.

15/3---Filming has started for the new movie, but haven't reached my part, so I can still go back to office to do an interview.
Attended 21st Century Handsome & Talented Award Ceremony, of so many handsome & talented, I am really one who is more mature. At this moment of happiness....also wish to thank them for giving me this award. This proves I am in the eye of many, other than handsome, is also talented. Haha...haha...

After Nanyang Siang Pao exclusive interview with Johnny To on the 13th of March, the press had another interview with Johnny To's production unit director i/c, he disclosed that due to undecided estimation of production cost & application for filming, the initial plan of coming to M'sia in early April will be postponed to mid-April.

Reporter(R): Which area is expensive to do filming in M'sia?
Director(D): Staff, location, & procedure fee are all expensive. The fee they charge is higher than to local Malaysians. Now we are looking for a production unit to help us.
R: Will you forgo the plan to shoot in M'sia?
D: Shouldn't be. M'sia is the main spot for development of story. We will try our best to apply. At least we have targeted a site.
R: Where in M'sia will the story happen?
D: Of course in KL! [look out, Jaime!!] We will be filming in the city center, there are many beautiful buildings, also equipments are easier to get. We will also search for a beach to shoot, thro' local tour agent."
R: JB is near to S'pore, isnt it easier to film there?
D: Had thought of it, but it is v unsuitable there, the buildings are more disorderly, after thinking we decided to choose KL. [Katherine: :(((]

The reporter asked further if there will be gun shooting scene in KL. The director appeared embarrassed, "Definitely in HK, but there is limitations in M'sia, so I cannot answer at this moment, we will get permission thro' proper channel."

He is wary of production cost for filming in M'sia. Said, "It is v expensive coming to M'sia, if we can find a sponsor to sponsor hotel, air-ticket, then it will cost less....all in all, it is still under calculation!"

2 days ago it was the 1st day for Andy to start shooting, the director praised that he is a v professional actor. He has a few cute looks in the movie, v different from Takashi, who will have more cool look. Andy make-up is more comical & playful.

Both of them are killers, Sammul Ren is the police, they have many scenes together. The director said they will treat both handsome actors equally, but is harder to get thro' to Takashi.

They talked less to him as he doesnot speak Cantonese or English, so 2 interpreters are required each time. But Takashi is a v professional actor too, he understands fast, not much talking needed, they are v satisfied with his performance.

TVB game show Jiang Men Ren 100th episode was recorded in Coliseum on the 17th night. It was hosted by Eric Tseng, Lin Xiao Fong & Qian Jia Le, artistes including Dicky Cheung, Ruby Lin, Chang Tat Meng, Woo Yong Wei, etc played games. Dave Wang, Nic Tse & Andy Lau were the performing singers.

When the hosts asked who were Dave Wang's fan, clap from the audience were scattered, but when asked who are Andy Lau's fans, the whole stadium clapped loudly. They avoided asking abt Nic Tse, as Dave & Nic were rumoured not to be on good terms.

The progamme climax turned out to fall on the guest for curtain closing, Andy Lau. He even came down the stage, together with hosts Eric Tseng etc sang silly Child. After Andy finished singing, 1/5 of the audience left the stadium....

6th Golden Bauhinia Awards ceremony was held last night at Tsim Sha Shui Science Auditorium. As usual, the attendees were not many, cast was simple, the one with most drawing power was Andy Lau, he had abt a hundred fans accompanying his arrival, raising the atmosphere of the event.

Others who were present included Francis Ng, Lor Lan, Cheng Pei Pei, Kuan Siu Mei, Qin Hai Lu, Huo Zeng Teng, Huo Yau Liang, Won Bi Xia, etc.

The event started at abt 7:40pm & ended at abt 8:30 pm. The arrival of Andy Lau caused a stir, the function was delayed 10 mins as the audience were not seated properly.

Andy Lau aged 39, after his win in last year HK Film Awards as Best Actor, this year once again conquered another award, with his 100th movie Fighter's Blues, was crowned Best actor.

Qin Hai Lu, 21, a new face from Mainland, played the lead role in Durian Durian directed by Fruit Chan, was crowned Best actress. She will be filming Non-stopping Love next.

In his speech last night, Andy, surprised but happy, said, "Never expected to win this award, this year movie in industry in HK has improved, more & more people are willing to invest in filming, I will continue to film good movies, to win back confidence of the audience."

After the ceremony, Andy was interviewed by the press, he said, "Other than the surprise with the win, of course v happy, but the director Daniel Li was not even nominated, I am not too happy." Andy felt that the director had done well in filming of AFB by making an ordinary movie so outstanding. Will the win boost his confidence in HK Film Awards? Andy said he wont dare to comment, as each has its own yardstick.

Andy said after collecting Top 10 Best movie award for AFB, he did not expect any more award & wanted to go home for shower actually!

As the win was unexpected, Andy had not thought of any celebration.

Francis Ng who was winner of last year Best Actor was given Best Supporting Actor award, he commented Andy deserves the award, he is not disappointed as he is not going home empty-handed.

Best Film award goes to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, which also won Best Supporting Actress & Best Director awards.

Huo Zeng Teng was guest presenter for Life Time award to Chao Ta Hua, The audience gave Uncle Hua a standing ovation. Uncle Hua who in his 70 years of career, has filmed 700 movies as leads, including TV serials will add up to thousands. The most memorable one For him is the movie 'Modern Buddha Palm' when Andy Lau had a role., Andy gave him the best impression. After so many years, Andy still remembers his birthday, he sends him card & gifts every year, he called to talk to him too, Andy is a person who treasures old friendship.

Yau Le Yi was nominated for Best Actress award but lost, but as she was sitting next to Andy Lau, she was caught in the limelight too.

Andy & Takashi Sorimachi have started filming of their new movie You & I. Filming started in the morning at Wan Chai yesterday. The scene was taken from near the Art Center mall & overhead bridge. A scene of crossing the street & gun-shooting were taken yesterday.

As both acted as professional killers they have to be in disguise. Takashi's role is a cool-headed killer while Andy role is with more exaggerated make-up, thus there are 2 v contrasting looks.

Takashi was disguised as a photographic reporter, His make-up is not simple, he wore a moustache, had a butterfly ribbon on the head, wore sunshades & a fisherman hat. His look was v macho with a white sleeveless tee with multiple pockets. The look effectively brings out uniqueness in him. The many make-ups of Takashi will be done by the Japanese specialist.

Andy, on the other hand, was in a fiery red leather suit, black tees, black pants & black boots. When filming started he put on a face mask of Clinton. When he was running across the street, a taxi driver who was shock stopped his car, Andy who still had mask on tapped the taxi & told him to leave!

Takashi appeared v professional, after every shot, he remained at the scene to watch Johnny To, even though Andy had rented a hotel room nearby for him to rest, so that he did not need to wait at the road side. But he was seen with a big packet of Malboro (spelling?) cigarettes, puffing away.

Many tourists from TW & Japan stopped by to look. Nobody seemed to recognise Takashi. The Japanese who realised it was him later screamed.

Andy attracted many onlookers. He was v caring to Takashi. After filming the scene of crossing the street, as Takashi was still engrossed in watching, Andy did not go back hotel to rest too, he remained in the scene chatting with Takashi. Andy introduced milk tea to Takashi, who seemed to enjoy it a lot, he took one cup after another.

They dont have much scene together in the movie.

When reporters tried to take photos of Takashi, his assistant stopped them, but Takashi stopped his assistant instead & allowed the reporters to take photos.

As Ah Q in the movie, there is a masturbation scene at the beginning of the show. Johnny To confirmed that the scene had been deleted in re-writing of the script, Takashi was thus not told.

HK Trade Development Board is cooperating with HK govt to organise a team to Cannes Film Festivals in May this year. Artistes who have given their nod to attend include Chow Yin Fat, Michelle Yeoh, Andy Lau, Sammo Hung, Shu Qi, Stanley Tang, Chen Ge Xin etc. It is expected to be a glitzy event. Trade Production Board has helped in the promotion of HK films overseas every year. This year a HK Nite will be held on the 12th of May in Cannes to promote HK movies. Many business persons from movie companies & artistes will be present. HK artistes who are always v supportive of HK movies such as Chow Yin Fat, Michelle, Andy Lau, Shu Qi, Sammo all agree to go at the first minute of notice, some govt officials will accompany the entourage.

There was a newspaper report saying that Movie Development Fundation has denied funds to this year HK Film Awards, but will sponsor Trade Development Board HK Nite at Cannes, this is an unfair statement, as the situaation is not true.

Annual expenditure of HK Film Awards is abt 3 to 4 mil. Thus year TVB gave up its production right, sponsoring only 1 mil, but RTHK gives some millions to sponsor the event too.

Hitherto, Movie Development Foundation has not confirmed on HK Film Awards fund application.

The responsible persons are v concerned with HK Film Awards, hopefully it can be staged successfully....

14/3---All the make-up for the cast has been fixed, Takashi will come v soon for the shooting, discussion with Johnny done, all work set to go. Just like an arrow....one touch all go...hope filming in the next few weeks will be v smooth!

13/3---Spent a whole day at the hair salon today, the reason being the director is not too satisfied with my hairstyle. So have to try out another style, the hair already becoming shorter & shorter, really dont know what to do! Aih! Talk tomorrow.

In celebration of the launch of latest new series of man's watches, Swiss watch Longines is holding a ceremony tomorrow to honour winners of '21st Century Talented & Handsome'. The selection is based on individual's entrepreneurial talent, image & overall achevements. 8 outstandingly handsome & talented single young men holding high posts & having enriched backgrounds were selected.

Andy Lau is the only one from the entertainment circle. The list comprises names of descendents of previous tycoons, such as chairamn of New World Cheng Yi Hon's grandson, CCT chairman's grandson Kwok Yong Liang.

Andy is considered to be the special one out of the 8 winners. Since he joined showbiz in '84, he has received numerous awards, including last year's World's Outstanding Young Person award, he is the record holder of most number of awards in Guniess Book, he truly deserves to be awarded.

Andy said he will be present to receive the award tomorrow even though he has shooting to do. He values every award & is v happy with this commendation.

For many years Andy is the spokesman for governmental 'Leap Education Plan' to impart healthy lifestyle messages to school children. 6 vans with teaching materials go round schools to give this extra knowledge . But as some schools have no space for the parking of vans or are in v remote areas, Andy had donated money to build a classroom in one of the schools, so children from these schools can come to participate in the activities.

Recently Andy had assumed the role of a teacher to teach children age 8 to 9 on body organs identification. The children had a wondeful time with Andy. Before they parted, one of them asked Andy when he can come again. Before Andy could give the answer, another one quipped, "You're so busy, you have no time to come, we will see you on TV then!"...

12/3---Wake up early in the morning, have to go for meeting, a bit sleepy zzz......see a few new designs of andyalu.com, new ideas & trend, all quite...satisfied! HK movie You & I will start filming next month in M'sia. The 2 leads are Andy Lau & Takashi Sorimachi. Johnni To, the director, has decided to recruit some local artistes thro' Nanyang Siang Pao, allowing the locals to introduce themselves & act with the cast!

The manager of the production unit had contacted Nanyang Siang Pao, who is given the privilege to advertise. Those who are interested can e-mail to : megco@netvigator.com, with personal particulars, experience & photos, etc.

Presently the vacant posts for M'sia & S'pore artistes include: 8 males & 5 females.

Conditions: do not pull long faces, look refreshing, have basic experience in acting, have & know the 'feel' for acting.

The manager said, "It is not important to be handsome or beautiful, most crucial is to know the art of filming."

Other than openly recruiting new faces, they have thro' the local productions co, procurred some photos of local artistes & their video clippets, etc, hopefully this exercise can involve the whole country.

Filming will start at the end of March in S'pore, & beginning of April in M'sia. Shooting will shutter between the 2 countries. Only the main actors such as Andy & Sorimachi will follow overseas shooting, the other artistes will be from the locals.

Production cost for this movie is HK 30 mil or M$15, it is a joint venture of TeamWork & MilkyWay movie production co. The storyline is abt 2 assassins, is a v machismo movie. The scenes will be selected from 6 main spots, mainly S'pre, [hi from Katherine], M'sia [ hi Jamie!], Korea [hi veronica!], Macau, Thailand BKK [hi Tai!] & HK. Completion is scheduled in July & slated to hit the screen during summer holidays.

Other than cooperating with M'sian artistes, the production co will seek collaboration with the local companies to supply equipments, transport & wushu personnels. The specialists behind the scenes such as lighting, photography are from HK, the rest are all provided locally.

HVD person i/c expresses keen interest with the cooperation, hope they can be of help with the filming.

To celebrate the completion of 100th episode of the TV serial 'Chang Men Ren', TVB will hold a show on the 17th at the HK Coliseum, many big stars are invited as guests, including Andy Lau, Nic Tse, Dicky Cheung, Lin Xin Jo & others. Andy, Dave Wong & Nic Tse will be singing. Other than performances, the artistes will play games, attractive prizes will be given out, including a new saloon. Abt 7,000 audience are expected to turn up.

Charity fund raising will be held at the same time for Bo Ai hospital.

11/3---The art director of the new movie, maybe not too happy with the hairstyle done yesterday, early this morning, forced me to have another hairstyle done. Sat there for the whole half day. Trouble! The more it is cut, the shorter it is!
Nite time invited some friends, thought of going out for dinner , but after running 5 palces still couldn't find seats, so dropped the idea, packed the food home & done with it!

10/3---Today again tried the make-up of You & I. Always want to try to keep hair a bit longer, but always because of either filming or launch of new album, hair has to be cut short. Similarly this time, keep the hair longer, again cut short. Actually hair long or short doesnt really matter a lot, because....I depend on my skill on acting & singing, how I look externally everyone will chrish.

Liaw Wei Xiong or An Chan, (HK actor made famous by the TV serial Man In The Net in the 80's) who now resides in M'sia, went back HK to hold a 3-day comical show. Mnay of his friends in the circle turned up to support, including Andy Lau & Carol Cheung. Money collected from the show will help him pay up his debts.

Ah Chan tried to promote his spicy source by setting up stalls in the show, but the sale was not too encouraging. Ah Chan appeared as a housewife to promote, he kept praising his source, Andy was asked to be the judge. The tasting game lasted 1/2 hour. Later, Andy was even asked to taste it. Despite his Havenly status, Andy was game enough, together with Ah Chan, he gave a comical pose, scratching head & neck, praising & enjoying the source.

Andy played games & mixed merrily with the children, this made the female fans jealous, they wish they were the children themselves!

Ah Chan impersonated as a comical Ah Fu. Andy commented this Ah Fu is fatter. In days when they were in TVB, Ah Chan was alreday taking lead roles when Andy was still unnoticed.

Ah Chan is grateful to Andy for his help on the stage, esp with the comical acts.

9/3---Mood is v....good. Because I wrote a song in the office today. The content is v interesting, the rhythm is also v light. Hope this song can be included in the new album, introduce to all.
