The HK Junior Chamber held a press con yesterday at the Central Li Jia Hotel, the chairman Li Yong Kui announced that Andy Lau is officially selected by Junior Chamber International as one of The Outstanding Young Persons of the World for year 2000. Andy is selected for his personal improvement & achievements.
Andy in balck smart outfit attended the occasion. The person who nominated him is Dr.Yeh En Min. Dr.Yeh described Andy having qualities of Real, Good & Beautiful (zhen, shan, mei), he is alike a diamond, from unpolished to now dazzling brilliantly.
Dr.Yeh has known Andy for 13 over years. The first time he met Andy was when Andy was setting up his hair saloon with his friends, Andy was seriously doing the renovating work himself, when Yeh's son had a fall accidentally, Andy was the one who rushed there immediately to help the child up. From that moment, Yeh began to appreciate Andy. 8 years later, though Andy was already well-known, he still retains his true genuine self, 3 years ago Andy still holds on to Never Give Up attitude. Though he encounters many hardship in his work, he never retreats. Andy is just like a diamond without caret, deep, profound & not measureable. (If we want to count caret?) Yeh said Andy then is 39 carets! since he is 39 this year!
Andy was visibly moved by the words put by Dr.Yeh. He said, "I feel like athlethes representing HK in Olympics, from 2 marks before now I am 50 marks." (When can you reach 100 marks?) I am alreday happy to be represented, never expect to win award, really surprise! I want to thank my manager Chang Kou Cong, 9 years ago he commented I had no talent in singing, this is just to inspire me to work harder! I hope the young people dare to take the first step & work hard."
Andy was seen with tears brimming at the eyes.

Andy is the 10th person from HK to win the award & the third from the entertainment circle.

Andy said he still wishes to represent HK in bowling in Asian Games, he wants to learn diving, maybe Fu Min-xia can teach him!

18/10---Havent taken the underground train for along time, this morning joined an activity organised by the radio stn, have a chance to take the train again, though it was passed peak hour, the train stn & train were still v packed, actully quite worried the old men & ladies would be squashed, luckily the whole journey was v smooth, the atmsphere was v cordial too! Lately Andy is filled with happiness, after clinching the Movie King award for the first time since he entered the circle, with a record of 292 awards, he enters Guinness Book Of World Records, now he has just been named as one of the 10 Most Outstanding Youth in The World! Andy receiving so many grand awards in a year, is really worthy of paise & to congratulate on.
Andy will set off on the 8th next month to attend the award ceremony which is on the 9th, at Hokaido, Japan.
HK pride
To be selected as World Outstanding Youth, the receipient has to go through many levels of stringent selection & investigation, the chance is extremely difficult to come by. In HK entertainment, only Jacky Chan & Jacky Cheung ever received the award in '98 & '92, Andy now receiving the award, brings glory to HK entertainment circle.
Yesterday Andy together with Kelly Chen & hundred over elderly men & women, attended 'Safty for the elderly in taking underground trains' activity. They took the train from Kowloon to the eastern Qing Yi station where they had a tour of the control center. Many fans followed.
Andy is v much welcome by all the elders. A grandpa was seen clasping his 10 fingers tightly & refused to let him go, Kelly laughed on seeing this.
The elderly were all too eager to have photo taken with Andy & Kelly.
Though Andy was surrounded by hordes of reporters all the way, he did not forget to show concern for the elderly, he held on to a 80 something grandma, took video of the reporters & introduced the reporters to her, he was really playful!
Actually Andy has known the award around his birthday last month, but he has to keep it a secret. The organiser will held a press con today to announce it, then only he can tell the others. He joked that he has a hard time keeping the good news!
The fans will organise a trip to Japan to share his happiness. Asked if he will invite friends? He said he has too many friends & may miss out some if he were to invite. If they go on their own there will be no problem.

He laments that he has never gotten Newcomer award, he lost it to Jacky Cheung in '86 in music & to '83 to Ma Xi-chen in movie category, he has never been nominated for Golden Horse award...
Andy has confirmed that the Chinese name for the movie A Fighter's Blues will be Ah Fu.

THERE was another feather in Heavenly King Andy Lau's cap and he
did not even know it.
Apparently, Lau was caught by surprise when a
Hongkong reporter mentioned that he had just
been listed in Guinness World Records 2001 as
the artiste that has garnered the most awards,
Lianhe Zaobao reported yesterday.
The news must have come as a shock and he
could only mutter "I'm very surprised'' before
asking his assistant to rush out and get a copy of
the book.
According to the record book, the actor-singer, who started out his
entertainment career in 1984, has won an impressive 292 awards
since 1988, which translates to an average of 24 awards a year over
the last 12 years.
The heartthrob had released 20 million copies of his albums and, last
year alone, sold a whopping 4.4 million copies.
The records also noted his acting achievements and stated that the
dishy hunk had made 101 movies between 1981 and 1999.
Lau, however, had told reporters that his latest movie as a Thai
kick-boxer in A Fighter's Blue is his 100th.
He cemented his popularity recently when he was asked by the
Madam Tussauds Wax Museum to model for his likeness for its
Hongkong museum.

17/10---The merry mood continues till today, have meeting in the morning, solve many problems, noon time have a v relaxed lunch with friends. Afternoon watch the the making of new movie A Fighter's Blues ,every scene, every shot, reminds me of the happy & tough moments I had filming in Thailand, no matter how tough it was at that time, now seeing it again feel really worth it. 16/10---So~~Hap~~py ya!
Received a good news early in the morning, 'I enter this year's Guinness Book Of World Records!' 1st day of work already have such a good news for me! Attended Wax Museum press con in the afternoon, followed by taking of measurements for the wax figurine. To make sure it is perfect, every step was done meticulously, spent a whole 3 hours, though felt rather bored, the result will be v good to look at, half a year later, believe everyone will be able to see it. Andy

In Guinness World Records 2001, Andy Lau has set a world record in World Music, from 1988 till April 2000, he received 292 awards. He has sold 20 million albums, '99 alone he sold 4.4 million. He is known all over the world whereever there is Chinese, speaking Mandarin or Cantonese. He has filmed 101 movies from '81 to '99.

He is the first singer in Asia to enter Guinness record.
He was told abt the news by his fans yesterday at the press con. This big award is a real happy surprise for him. Few years ago, his co-workers used to tease him that he worked so hard & receive so many awards, he could enter world record, he thought they were just joking, as far as he knows, it is not easy to set world record, he has never thought years of hard work has really put him into the world record.
Guinness do not send notice to inform the winner, Andy had personally bought the book to believe he has set the record. Accordingly to enter the guinness record, the record has to be genuine, certified by mayor, it is no wonder Andy is so happy.
Other than him, Jacky Chan & Fu Min-xia, the Chinese multiple Gold medallist in Olympics has also set the record for themselves.
Yesterday Andy attended London Mdm Tussand's Wax Museum press con, he is selected to be the representative of HK singers, he had his measurements taken & hand print emblazoned.
After the con, Andy entered a VIP room & had his measurements taken behind closed doors, a total of 3 over hours.
Andy said it was like being frozen in the taking of measurements, the specialists were v meticulous, every part of his body was carefully measured, hundreds photos were taken, pictures of him from smiling slightly to laughing were taken, every wrinkle, the length & unique features were noted. He upper torso muscles were also measured, Andy joked that luckily the figurine has clothes on, otherwise he might have to remove all the clothes.
The specialists were v amazed with Andy's measurements, they had measured many famous persons, there is so few with such balanced measurements, both his ears are equally set, both arms in perfect compliments.
Andy thought of using his look in The Fighter's Blues for the figurine, but as he was selected as singer, he has to drop the idea, he will be dressed as a singer, probably in Chinese attire.
The person i/c knows andy has just celebrated his bday, he said his bday is the same as Andy's & gave Andy a cake, maybe he is also Andy's fan?...

15/10---Last day of the holidays, thought of taking a real rest, recollect this holidays, turn to read my diary, have actually done quite a lot of things.
Had a seafood meal with my parents today, though it is none other than fish prawns crab & vegetables, but can have a meal together, the feeling is v good! Tomorrow start of real work, hope everything goes on smoothly! Andy

14/10---Went to the studio to listen recordings of a few newcomers, did not have any high hope on them initially, knowing that a newcomer having to stand & sing in a studio, is different from karaoke room, the anxiety is hard to put down with pen, but their performance today really gives me a happy surprise.
It reminds me days before I produce an album, I was already singing in many famous pubs & lounges, such as Ta Pu 'Fu Yeow Cafe' & Wei Heng Chang 'Chicago Cafe', I already had quite many fans at that time, also remember Alex Man always came to see my performance, can be touted as 'Lounge King Singer', "Not what you think! ....Ha...ha...' But when the record co asked me to stand in the studio to record song, this 'Singing KIng' turned to a 'Kitty King', trembling till I couldnt make out what I sang.
Now the newcomer is really terrific! Andy

13/10---V vexed today! The whole day thinking abt the theme song for The Fighter's Blues, think until 'head breaking up', dont know how to write abt it?
At the bginning thought of making it sound a bit more melancholy, the thought is like Days Being Together, or Be My Lady, or His Lady, not sure what to do?! Then think abt the Wonderers feeling.....but thought it is too oldie, until now havent thought of a single word, but not to worry, 'the boat will be straight at the bridge end'.

Andy Lau has been selected by London Mdm Tusssand's HK branch museum as a representative for HK in the singer category, becoming the first HK singer to be selected . The museum will be opened in July next year. Other than Andy Lau, Jacky Chan, Li Ka-shing, Michelle Yeoh & Li Li Shan had been invited to be the museum icons in May this year.
The reporter contacted Andy, he was v happy, ¡§Really surprised, really v honoured. How come they have selected me? I am in multiple fields, maybe should take me as an artiste & not only as singer, but they said my image as singer is very outstanding. As to the look in the figurine, it has not been decided, I hope to appear as a Chinese or as the motorcyclist as in Moments Of Romance.¡¨
Andy who has received HK Most Outstanding Youth is a famous singer in Asia, he has received numerous singing awards in his 20 years in the showbizz, Billboard had ever conferred him title representative of Asia, CNN ever interviewed him, now wax museum selected him, it is really what he rightly deserves. Monday 16th the museum will have a big-scale press con in HK, specialists from London will take measurements for Andy to make the figurine, which will take 6 months to complete. At the same time, Andy will also put down his hand prints.
Spokesman for the museum said, ¡§The committee in London has based the selection on the popularity of the person in the region, it is not based on how much wealth one has, or how much he has done to the society. Andy is v popular in Asia.¡¨

12/10---have anew phone, is the one that can login to internet Wap phone R380s, thought it is as easy to use as the home PC, learn a whole morning before I know how to use it.

11/10---Went back to office this morning, had a meeting to discuss the promo of the new album, it was lunch time when the meeting was over, since I have not had lunch with the office staff for a long time, today is a bit freer & almost all are there, I suggest treating all to lunch.
On arrival, the assistant who had already gone earlier to order tim-sum, ordered a total of ------48nplates. The table was full, I joking told her, ¡§Though it is a long time I gave treat, dont have to be like that!¡¨ As it is past lunch time, some staff just took a bit & left to prepare for the afternoon meeting. Finally......all the left over become afternoon tea, & dinner. Andy

10th of October is Anita Mui¡¦s 37th birthday. Many of her friends turned up to celebrate for her at a hotel, including Eric Tseng, Miao Chiao Wei & wife, & others. Andy did not turn up.
Andy had earlier on said he will give her flowers first, followed by a mysterious gift to give her a surprise. At the party Anita was seen smiling at a big dazzling diamond ring on her finger the whole night, it makes people suspect that the ring is from Andy Lau.
Smiling sweetly, Anita said, ¡§Flower already received, (How many stalk?) Not saying, but it is v beautiful, can keep for quite long.¡¨ As to the other secret present? Anita unwittingly show the big diamond ring on her right index finger. Asked who gave the ring, she refused to answer...
Anita is happy to have so many bosom friends after years in the circle.

10/10---Have a press con in the office, now a few companies will cooperate with new dimensions, next time can work more closely, whether it is administrative or set-up all up the track, can put more time on movie & singing from now.
Meet a few friends from the movie circle today, some are the v experienced, some are just starting newcomers, talk to them for v long, learn some new things from there, feel that.....I still prefer to continue as an idol & artiste of substance! Andy

11/10---A Fighter's Blues premiere month tour
Andy fans around the region is lucky! To celebrate Team Work 100th movie A Fighter's Blues & to thank the fans years of support, Andy will select from the fan club of each region in Asia, to follow him around Asia to watch the movie with him, food lodging & ticket provided.
The Chinese name is still not finalised, after some consideration, the Chinese name suggested on the net will not be used.

Andy's investment in a multimedia company, Hao He Pai Pte ltd, was bought over by CCT Multimedia, announced at press con yesterday. The price is at 1 billion 34 millions & 40 thousands.
This transaction makes Andy's pockets loaded. Andy, not denying, said that the initial capital he put in was less than a million. "In '96, '97, I use a piglet money to invest in CCT dotcc, now it has become 200 piglets!" (How much is one piglet?) Less than 7-digit ! (That's means 6 digit? 6 digit multiply by 200, that means over a billion!) It has increased 200% now, no wonder Andy is in good mood & smiling away.
On the problem of impostors at andylau.com to cheat fans, Andy stressed that he will definitely counter their actions, but not convenient to elaborate. Also, lately there are people who attack Andy personally at message Board, Andy is easy with it, "I fully accept people saying I am no good, I will improve, but things which is not true, I wont be bothered."
Yesterday was Anita Mui 37's bday, Andy said he had sent her a gift earlier on, but will give her one more at night when seeing her, but wont disclose what the gifts are. Andy is so considerate, Anita is sure to be happy.
Andy's 100th movie Chinese name will be known soon, it had sought the Chinese name over the net, at time of release in Christmas, it is hoped that there will be a month of Premiere tour in Asia.
"Celebrating 100th movie, of course must be elaborate, at that time I will select fans from fan club to go to the big cities in Asia to watch premiere with me. I will pay for the ticket & expenses." said Andy.
Next week is the Disabled Olympics in Australia, Andy will fly there with the athletics to cheer them & witness the occasion...
Chinese Olympics Diving Gold medallist Fu Min Xia takes Andy as her idol, she is coming to HK for a performance, Andy was asked if he will contact her, said Andy, "She is my idol! This year Olympics is the stage for the Chinese! But end of month I'm going to Australia to cheer the Disabled Olympics, hope I can come back in time to watch her show!"

8/10---Have dinner with my parents tonight, spend a family day at home. My father watched Chef Chan prepared a dish on TV, he followed & prepared the same dish, of course v nice to eat! Main thing is not the flavour, but because every dish is full of love! After dinner dessert follows! After that, I cut a plate of fruits for both of them! Actually at dessert time, they are already sleepy, maybe because older people seldom sleep late, as it is near to 11pm, better turn in early! Andy

For many years Andy Lau is v industrious, this is obvious to all, esp in his music career. After collaborated with Kenny G, Koji Tamaki, Jim Brickamn etc the big gurus, Andy who is brave-hearted broke the barrier of record companies, he invited the beauty Kelly Chen to duet the song Not Loving U Enough. First collaboration plus its sizzling scenes, these 2 excitements, winning in both audio & visual effects, have already won the battle. In Not Loving U Enough, Kelly's feminine & saccharide voice complimented by Andy's full manly vocal, the contrast of grace & macho, is just superb.
Just when we think Toilet Bowl is the last action to come out from the KIng, he again became the hot topic of the day, he presents to us a song with the title that is controversial, Enjoy My Surname. By chance, it has the same effect as Jacky Cheung's Your Name, My Surname. unfortunately looks as if Andy Lau has not found the lucky lady yet.
This album Man's Love retains Andy's style of 10 years. Man Cry Is Not A Crime is a classic, King Lau as if crying out words by words man's most hurtful inner-self, the ladies will surrender with both hands up.
Andy who admires the Shanghainese musician Li Chuan v much, invited songs from Li, the talented Li's Life's Long Route, the melodious tune coupled with music from the electric guitar & piano in a romantic mix, is a joy to listen to, is the best composition of the whole album.

6/01---At home the whole day to write lyrics for the new songs, evening login to the net, see a message at the message board that is anonymuos scolding me, previously such boring stuff ever happened too, but v funny they always like to hide the head & expose the tails, afraid people will know who they are.
