I am a Japanese female artist who live in the States, and some of my online friends call me "GG" ( Graphic Girl). I love to make graphic images, especially logos and icons. I decided to make my own web pages after I was inspired by some friends who have made their own pages. Making graphic stuff for the Web is so much fun! Once I had thought that I would pursue fine arts - I used to draw a lot with my hand - until I started creating stuff with computers. I still like to draw with pencils on paper, though this digital media is irresistibly interesting. Until recently I didn't think much of making "Japanese taste" images. I don't know why, though, I am attracted to the traditional Japanese ways of colors, shapes, and mood. Maybe I am far away from Japan and started looking at its uniqueness - or I just might miss Japan a little. There are things I have gained and missed since I left Japan. Things I have gained are: Ability to speak English (well, I have to....); A tough mind that hardly gives up; Patience; Awareness of my feeling for the Japanese culture; Good friends who probably would not have met if I had been in Japan. Things I have missed are: Delicious Japanese food; Any kind of gossip in Japan (this makes me feel as if I were in the outer space!); Conversations with my parents and old friends; Cool Japanese expressions. |

In sum, it seems that I've learned important things from both American and Japanese cultures. The ideal goal for my self-development is to become a woman who have good qualities from East and West - I have always wanted to be. And I would like to express it into my artwork. I believe that everyone can be an artist, but it's just a matter of degree or taste that how much the majority of people accept it. We can be the artists that we want to be. Although it is not always alright if we are working for somebody else, I would like to work for people who accept my artistic sense. Another goal for me is to improve my English writing skill. I wish I could express my feelings and describe things in writing as good as that when I use my own language Japanese. So if you found strange or incorrect expressions in my writing, please let me know - It will be very helpful since I don't have a tutor who checks my English. |
