She was born in 1898 in Warsaw, the capital of   Poland. She's the daughter of wealthy parents. She has  one elder brother, Stanczyk, and a younger sister, Adrienne.

In 1910, Tamara finds the painting of her by a famous pastel painter unsatisfactory. Convinced that she can do better herself so she forces her sister to sit for her, and she likes her own work better than that of the famous painter.

In 1911, she succeeds in being taken out of school by faking to be ill because she is bored at school. She travels with her grandma, who is her favourite and by whom Tamara is spoiled, to Italy, where she discovers her passionate for art.

In 1914, Tamara stays with her Aunt Stefa in Petrograd during summer holidays because this is for the protest of her mother's second marriage. She falls in love with the handsome Tadeusz Lempiki, a Petrograd attorney.

Tamara Gorska and Tadeusz Lempicki are married in the Chapel of the Knights of Malta in Petrograd in 1916.
