The first of Beryl's Generals ("Kings" in the original Japanese version), it was his duty to supervise the gathering of energy to release the Nega-Force (Empress Metallia). After several attempts at mass energy gathering, all of which were thwarted by the Sailor-Scum, Beryl decided to "nullify" his service to her, and imprisoned him in a suspended animation crystal, never to be seen again except in countless fanfics. After Jadeite's failure, Nephrite, the second General took the spotlight. He claimed that he could get "more energy from a single person than Jadeite could get from a hundred". Nephrite was obsessed with astrology and used it as his means of finding a human "whose energy level was reaching it's peak". When on Earth he used the name of Maxfield Stanton and dwelled in an abandoned cathedral on a mountain he conjured up.
He took on another job of trying to find the Silver Imperial Crystal, which angered another of Beryl's Generals, Zoicite. It was her(ugh)job to find the crystal and when she saw her career being threatened, she began to devise a plot to remove Nephrite's presence. When Nephrite began to fall in love with a human girl( none other that Molly[Naru-chan] Serena's 14 year old best friend[Nephrite had to be in his early thirties at least]), Zoicite saw this as her big chance and captured the girl for ransom. Nephrite rescued the girl and Zoicite didn't get what she wanted ( a "star crystal" that Nephrite had conjured up to lead him to the Silver Imperial Crystal). Zoicite's youma(youma are the creatures sent by the Negaverse to do some evil thing on Earth, but are always destroyed at the end of each episode by the Sailor Scum) attacked Nephrite and the girl in a park. During this battle Nephrite was mortally wounded and later died, leaving everyone crying at the end of the episode (I don't know, all the color in the death scene just gave me a headache).
