Well, let's see...I'll begin with, what else? My page. I got started on this for an internet class and couldn't stop after the class did. This is really bad for my already dismal studying habits since it keeps me up all night. This is how it goes:
- Get back from class around 9:30 (night classes, what a pain), think, Hmmm, I shouldn't get on but then, I won't be too long.
- Stay on until 1 or 2 in the morning doing... stuff, I guess.
- Decide, I'm too sleepy to do homework, I'll just wake up really early tomorrow and do it.
- Sleep, wake up at 8, copy files to a disk to work on at my school's computer lab, go to school at 9:00. (I didn't mention doing any homework, did I?)
If anyone knows how to pass through this craze quickly, suggestions are more than welcome! Besides that, I'd really love to learn more html and javascript to make cool 'wow, how'd they do that?' web pages... An example of my html prowess is this page! How very simple! Although, I'd like to say I'm not putting too much effort into it. All the other pages, I used Netscape Composer.
Now, onto... Anime! I got into anime through my cousin. He lent us all his tapes (thank you!) and we got addicted so much that we finished off the entire Ranma 1/2 first season in one night! It's still my all time favorite anime! I totally love any and all anime -- the drawings are so much better, the storylines more sophisticated (in some cases, really sophisticated), the humor more, well... funny! than what I can catch on tv these days.
My other favorite anime series are:
Vision of Escaflowne -- Sorry to say it, but this one rivals or surpasses Ranma for me! Fantasy, mecha, romance, supernatural, and fighting. Has it ALL! links soon Blue Seed -- Kusanagi and Momiji's romance...sigh! another good site The Hakkenden -- Shino's a babe! one more site Evangelion -- Augh, the pathos, the despair.. what more can you ask for? go here too Bastard -- I love saying "Daa-ku Shi-nai-daa..." Nausicaa -- The teary ending.. sigh. But read the manga - it's even better! I'd love to check out the other popular series, like Fushigi Yuugi, Slayers, or Gundam W, but sadly, my sources are limited...
My other loves: Um, I'll add some links later.
- Music: Britpop!! Radiohead's my absolute favorite, partly because their last concert I went to was sooo great. Pulp, they're very sexxxy. Blur, good tunes and also influenced by their concert, where (eek!) Graham Coxon smiled at me. And the London Suede, kind of glam/whiny vocals... Many, many others!
- Swing! (sort of) Squirrel Nut Zippers are cool, love that "Betty Boop meets Billy Holiday voice." Big Bad Voodoo Daddy are a very listenable swing band, so is Royal Crown Revue.
- Japanese anime pop! Of course, Doco - Ranma songs, Ah! My Goddess, Sakura Taisen, Blue Seed, MKR, DHY; all off the net or from 'Best of...' collections. And I can't forget Pizzicato Five! I wish I didn't need to drop Japanese.
- Movies and TV: The X-files, who could resist that mesmerizing combination of the supernatural and high sexual tension?
- Star Wars, Oh I've neglected my box set for over three months now. I'll have to refresh my memory of Luke soon. Can't wait until summer '99!
- Books: Wheel of Time, Time-consuming and worth every minute! Robert Jordan's amazing...
- The Sandman, strange and lyrical storytelling with fantastic artwork = one of the best American graphic novels around!
- My friends! All from around SF. The lawn crew, miss you guys. I don't know why I'm even writing this part since none of you are 'computer geeks' (as someone put so nicely) like us.
- Coffee: My life saver. Without it you wouldn't see these pages...
Here's the personal info: I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area -- I won't bother with the city name because even people around here haven't even heard of my cozy little town.
I'm 19 and go to the College of San Mateo - a junior college on the Peninsula, and I'm studying art. Oooooo, aaaah... (By the way, sorry if I say "we" alot. It's a habit because I'm a twin and we (hehe) do everything together! But don't worry, I'm far, far away from the cutesy, best friends, Sweet Valley "let's dress alike!" twin stereotype. )
I'm planning to transfer next year to either the Rochester Institute of Technology or Iowa State University. Weird choices, eh? It's because they offer my major - Medical Illustration. sigh... It's hard to get taken seriously cause no one around here has even heard of that. "What are you going to do? Draw in textbooks?!" they say derisively. Yes dammit! As a matter of fact I am! ^_^
