Jim Morrison was the man on the vocals all the way up untill his death in the Rock N Roll band "The Doors", Ray manzarek was the man on the Keyboards, Robbie Krieger on Guitar and John Densmore was the man playing Drums. The band all began in the middle of 1965 where Manzarek(the Keyboard man) and his brothers had a band by the name of "Rick and the Ravens". The band played in The Turkey Joint West Bar in L.A, students from the film department U.C.L.A used to hang out, one of the students was Jim Morrison and they both became acquainted.

Jim Morrison was asked by Manzarek if he wanted to be part of a Rock N Roll band and make millions, Jim agreed and Ray suggested the name "Dionisis" but Jim had a better idea, he suggested the band should be named "The Doors".

The next step for the band was to find a drummer and a guitar player, at the time Manzarek was interested in Meditation and Yoga, he visited a Meditation centre where he became acquainted John Densmore, the future drummer of "The Doors". Rick and the Ravens" had a contract with world-pacific company, and according to it they had to record six sides, but with Jim's help this was all done in about 3 hours. And shortly after this Robbie Krieger joined them on the Guitar.

As soon as the band was all arranged and complete they began recording a Demo, "The Doors" then faced the problems all new bands had, and this was being signed by a record company, they were turned down by all companies they tried, but after many regections they signed for Columbia Records, the deal was a six month contract, and the band had to record six sides. But after all it was a waste of time because no-one was interested in producing their records.

But the band continued playing LIVE Gigs, and moved on from "The London Fog Club" which was a small club of Drunks and Sailors, where no-one used to go, to the "Whiskey-A-Go-GO-Club" which gave the band a chance to perform with well known bands. After a few months of good performances the were signed by Electra Discographics company, where their producer Paul Rothschild helped them to record their first album "The Doors" which was the first step for them. the winning combination of Rothschild and "The Doors" turned out to be a fine thing for the future of the band.
