Wat Arun Ratchawararam or Temple of the Dawn was an ancient temple dating back to Ayutthaya period. King Taksin (1767-178) had the old building restore and made them royal temple.
In the reign of King Rama I, it was renovated and new ordination hall was build. Phra Prand , one of the main architactures which becomes the symbol of the temple was build in the riegn of King Rama III.
