Tabligh the work from Allah Ta’lla

My beloved brothers, sisters and elders, whilst I was browsing the Internet I found a lot of sites that disgraced, criticised and rejected the work of Tabligh, I was very depressed since it is one of the major revivers of Islam today.

In this small space, I will discuss why we have to do the work of Tabligh and why we have to give dawah or Nasiah to our own Muslim’s today. The first point I want to get straight is that Tabligh is not a group or party, today people have named it Tabligh-E-Jammaat. If there were a real name for it, it would have been called Imaan sikneh ka jamaat, which means a Jammat where in you can learn Imaan.

I do not want to go deep into how the work was revived, but it was revived by a Sheikh called Muhammad Ilyas Kandalwi (Ra) from India. An old man once came to him and said “I do not know the kalima” Sheike Ilyas told him go to the Muslim’s and tell them look I am an old man with a white beard & I don’t know the kalima don’t be like me (after the people heard this they made effort on their family and neighbours). After a while he returned to the locality and found the Mosque full, even at the time of Thahjud.

Sheikh Ilyas later saw Prophet s.a.w. come in his dream and say that Allah will take work from you he replied that he was weak and is incapable the prophet s.a.w. replied that Allah did not say that you are going to do the work but Allah will take work from you.

The work was revived in the 1920's in Mewat, India, the people at that time called him insane and stupid because he used to say that the people of Europe and America are going to come here and learn Islam and carry out the work, the people who heard this used to laugh in his face, they said that the people of India are not listening to you how are the people of Europe and America going to listen. Alhamdulillah now thousands of people visit the Markaz in India each day and the second largest gathering in the world after Hajj is the Ithima in Bangladesh and Jammats go all over the world from this Ithima. It's the same in America in England, South Africa, Pakistan, and India and in the Middle East and other parts of the world.

Now why do we have to do the work, Sheikhul Hadith Muhammad Zakariah Kandalwi say's in his book Fadhail-E-Ammal, the chapter Muslim degeneration and it's only remedy that the Arabs were sunk in darkness then a light of true knowledge and guidance rose and it's rays spread from the East, West, North, and the South they reached every corner of the earth within the short period of 23 years. At that time Muslim's were attaining success after success but Alas the fact of history has only become a Myth, an ancient tale.

If you look at the Muslim's of today they are the opposite, 85 % or more do not perform Salaat, which is the principal pillar in Islam after Iman. They have adopted the lifestyle of the Kuffar and thrown the Sunnat of the Prophet (Saw) out of their windows many of them commit Zina every day, they gamble, listen to Music, Sing, Drink and commit Shirk.

Imagine if the Prophet (Saw) came today and saw the Muslim Ummah in such a condition what would he say, would we invite him to our home or would we first throw the Shaytan out of our house or would we simply run away.

Tabligh is trying to breathe life into Imaan and Ammal of the Muslim's. The people that carry the work of Tabligh go out in an Islamic environment such as the Masjid in most cases because Prophet (Saw) said the Masjids are the greatest places and the Bazaar the worst. They go for as long as they can normally 3 days, 40 days and 4 months. In that time they learn the basics and fundamentals of Islam and they learn how important it is to bring full Islam into their life. They also build their Imaan by giving dawah to Muslim's.

Allah Ta'la says in the Qur'an

And whose word can be better than his who calls people towards Allah and performs good deeds and says '' I am one of those who submit to Allah!''

(Surah Al Fussilat verse 33)

My brothers & sisters the work of Tabligh is not biddah it’s a way of reviving Islam and waking up the Muslim's who are asleep. There are tremendous stories about the people engaged with the effort of Tabligh who went into the stages of becoming the slave of Shaytan to becoming a true a slave of Allah, the people that you would think are going to be the last in bringing Islam into their life (because of the state that they were in) to becoming superior and more Allah fearing than us.

My brothers & sisters it's time that we realised our responsibility and live up to our responsibility because there are no Prophets to come or any Ummah's. So we are the last and we received the last Prophet who gave us the responsibility of conveying Islam throughout the world and the people to come. If we study the life of Prophet (Saw) we see how much sacrifice he went through.

My brothers & sisters why not join in the effort, it's not only for the males it's also for the females there were Sahabiya that did the work like the Sahaba. There is an immense reward for this work it is related in one Hadith that one day & one night in the path of Allah is superior to the world and whatever it contains. So imagine what reward Allah will give for reviving his deen at a time when the Muslims were neglecting Islam and running towards the fire of Jahannam.
