'Wild Half' is what Salsa called himself as a detective, but the word 'Wild Half' has other meanings. It is also the name for a unique breed of animals that could talk and also transform to human form.

In their animal form alone, these animals are far more superb than the ordinary ones, not to mention if they are in their human form. Most of them have a keen sense of smell; they could smell your feelings especially if they're very strong!

However, the cause of their transformation varies. Let’s take Salsa for example. Salsa changes to human first when he wanted to save Mitsuki Kitahara (his first owner) when they had the accident over the cliff, or, in other words, he changed because he wanted to save his beloved. But while Salsa changes because of his deep feelings for his owner and the strong relationship between them, Ouga (the leopard cub) transformed only after his mother was drugged and killed to put in the zoo museum, and he was filled with hatred and anger.

Wild Half species known so far are dog, cat, bird, leopard and wolf.
