On the New year’s day we went to Viña del
mar. We were advised by our friends Lily and Guy to take the TurBus
from the bus station. However, Turbus was full. We ended up
taking the Condor Bus to Vina del mar. The bus ride was about
2 hours each way. We visited Vina and the city of Valparaiso and
Lily’s large family. The waterfront at Valparaiso harbour had
smaller funicullars that took people up the mountain face for a view.
When we got back to Santiago it was pretty late. We ate at the Peruvian
restaurant in town supposedly famous for their Whiskey sours, according
to LP-guide. Krishnan did not find the drink especially remarkable.
