Oh man, I’m gonna be late thought Serena as she ran down the street, heading for the Hikawa Shrine. Rei’s gonna kill me. She hurried around a corner and bolted up the stairs leading to the shrine’s courtyard where she found all of her friends waiting for her. “Hey guys. How’s it going.”
Rei glared at her, “Your late again, Serena.”
“Hey! It’s not my fault I was late for school and got detention.”
“Then whose fault was it.”
“It was Luna’s fault for not waking me up this morning.”
“I tried to get you out of bed twice this morning,” replied a flabbergasted Luna. “The second time you threw me halfway across the room.”
“Well, you should have tried harder.”
“Enough you guys,” interjected Mina, “We have a meeting to attend to.”
“I don’t understand why we’re bothering to have a meeting today. I mean, it’s been over a month since we defeated the Wise Man and nothing has happened.”
“That’s exactly why we’re having this meeting,” replied Amy. “We’ve never gone this long without an evil monster or something popping up. I’m a little worried that maybe something big is about to happen.”
“And besides being worried I’m bored to,” said Lita. “It’s been to long since I’ve had the chance to kick any monster butt.” Everyone just looked at Lita. “What’d I say?”
“Well, maybe we’ve already destroyed all the monsters that exist,” said a hopeful Serena.
“Somehow I seriously doubt that,” replied Luna.
“Have you had any visions that might warn us of a potential threat Rei?” asked Mina.
“Well, there is this one vision that I’ve had a couple of times recently. I’m not really sure what it means though.”
“Maybe we can help you figure it out. How does it go?”
“It starts off with this boy who’s just standing there. All I can really make out is his head. He’s fairly young with black hair and a pigtail. Somehow I can sense that he’s a really powerful warrior.”
“Is he evil?” asked Amy.
“I’m not sure, but I don’t think so. Anyway, he’s standing there and then suddenly there’s a girl standing next to him. The girl looks just like him except that she has red hair. I don’t know how but I can feel that their deeply connected. Then there’s a bright flash of light and the sun appears behind them. All I can see of them is their silhouette and that changes to the silhouette of a Sailor Scout.”
“Do you think that means we’ll find a new Scout?” asked Serena.
“It might mean that. I’m can’t be sure though. What do you think Luna? Is it possible that there’s another Sailor Scout out there.”
“It’s possible, but I don’t know for sure. You five are the only thing I remember real clearly from my time in the Silver Millennium. What about you Artemis?”
“Sorry, I can’t help you. I think I remember even less than you do. Is there anymore to this vision Rei.”
“Yeah. The sun winks out all of a sudden, and everything is plunged into darkness. Then there’s a deep laugh that seems to be coming from everywhere. That laugh sent shivers down my spine. Whoever made it is definitely evil.”
“All right,” shouted an excited Lita, “I’ll bet that means that I’ll get to do some monster butt kicking soon.” Everyone just looked at Lita again.
“Anyway, that’s all of it. Like I said though, I’m not sure what it means.”
“Well, I guess we’ll find out sooner or-,” Mina was suddenly cut off by a simultaneous shout from Rei, Luna, and Artemis.
“What is it guys?” asked Lita.
“I just sensed something really evil not too far away,” replied Rei.
“Me to” replied the cats in unison.
“All right!!” shouted Lita as she pulled out her henshin rod, “finally some action. Jupiter Star Power!”
“I wonder if this is related to my vision. Mars Star Power!”
“I wonder if it’s something from the Negaverse again. Mercury Star Power!”
“Who cares. Evil is evil. Venus Star Power!”
“I should have known this peace and quiet couldn’t last forever. Moon Crystal Power.”
“Be careful Scouts,” warned Luna, “we don’t know what we’re up against yet.”
“Don’t worry Luna. We’ll be fine,” replied Sailor Moon before her and the other Scouts dashed off to face whatever evil was now terrorizing the world.
“We’ve heard that before,” replied a not to confidant Artemis.
“Tell me again why we had to come all the way to Juuban district to go shopping.”
“Because, Ranma, just once I’d like to do something without worrying about some weirdo attacking us,” answered Akane.
“I’ve heard that some pretty weird stuff happens around here too.”
“Nothing could be as weird as what goes on in Nerima.”
Suddenly two girls in rather short skirts, one red and one blue, came hurtling over the top of a nearby building. They both landed in the middle of the street with a soft thud. Neither one of them was moving.
“You were saying,” said Ranma as he rushed over to see if they were okay. He kneeled down next to the one in red and began checking for a pulse while Akane checked on the one in blue. Surprisingly the girl didn’t seem in to bad a condition. It just looked like the wind had been knocked out of her. Suddenly her eyes popped open. A look of shock crossed her face as she looked up at Ranma.
“You’re the one in my vision,” she mumbled.
“What’d ya say?” Ranma asked. The girl tried to stand but Ranma made sure she didn’t get past a sitting position. Just because she looked okay didn’t necessarily mean she was. “You hit the ground pretty hard. It’d probably be better if you lay here for a moment.”
“I can’t. My friends need me,” said the girl as she tried to stand up again.
Ranma was about to point out that she wasn’t in any condition to help anyone when the building the two girls had come over suddenly crumbled to the ground. Ranma looked up to see a minataur like creature making its way through the rubble of the fallen building. At first he thought it was Pantyhose Taro, but then realized that this thing was a lot uglier. It stood a good ten feet tall and its fur, which looked a little singed in places, was shaggy and green. It had two yellow fangs sticking out of its mouth, and its horns were blood red. It was also wielding a very large club.
It caught sight of the girl Ranma was helping and roared. “Nobody burns Minkor and gets away with it,” the creature growled in a deep guttural voice as it advanced toward the girl. Ranma noticed that, surprisingly, the girl didn’t seem too afraid.
Suddenly a girl in a green skirt appeared nearby. “Jupiter Thunder Clap Zap!” she shouted as she hurled a ball of lightning at the creature. Using its club it casually knocked the ball of lightning back at the girl. She dove for cover as the ball slammed into the place where she had been standing, sending fragments of pavement everywhere.
“Now I’m going to smash you into pudding,” growled the beast as it once again headed toward Ranma and the girl.
“I have to fight that thing,” said the girl as she tried to get to her feet again.
“Your in no condition to fight,” said Ranma. “Let me handle this.”
“How can you possibly handle this?”
“Watch,” answered Ranma as he stood up. “I don’t know exactly what’s going on,” Ranma said to the creature, “but I don’t think your going to be smashing anyone.”
“Oh, and why not?”
“Because, I’m going to stop you,” replied Ranma as he settled into a fighting stance.
The creature just looked at him and laughed. “A little thing like you. Very well, if you want to die that badly then come on. Let’s get this over with.”
“With pleasure”, said Ranma as he charged the creature. It used both hands to swing its club at Ranma, but he easily jumped over it and delivered a jumping side kick to the creature’s face. Landing in front of the creature Ranma delivered several hundred punches to the creature’s gut chestnut fist style. He then swept the creatures feet out from under it and jumped away. The creature hit the ground with a loud thud.
The creature staggered to its feet clutching its stomach. “Your gonna pay for that,” it growled. With a wordless roar the creature charged Ranma with its club raised over its head in one hand. Ranma sidestepped the club as it smashed into the pavement, but the creature had anticipated the move and it used its free hand to punch Ranma. The creature was incredibly strong and the blow sent Ranma sailing through the air to crash into the side of a brick building.
The impact of the blow hardly fazed Ranma at all even though he had left a small crater in the side of the building. He landed on his feet facing the creature. He glanced around him and saw that Akane was helping the girl in blue to her feet, but she still seemed a little dazed. The girl in red was just staring at Ranma with her mouth hanging open. Seeing that everyone was okay Ranma turned his attention back to the creature.
Once again Ranma charged. The creature swung its club down at Ranma again, but Ranma jumped back out of the way. As the club smashed into the ground Ranma sprang forward and used his fist to splinter the club right above where the creature was holding it. The creature just stared dumbly at what was left of its club for a few seconds. Ranma used those few seconds to deliver a devastating spinning side kick to the creature’s midsection. The force of the blow sent the creature crashing to the ground several feet away.
“I think its time to end this,” said Ranma as he began to gather his chi. His battle aura flared around him and he began to form a ball of energy in his hands.
The creature got to its feet once again, but paused when it saw that Ranma was glowing like a street lamp. It decided, foolishly, that this wasn’t much of a threat and charged Ranma. Ranma just smiled.
“Mooko Takabisha!” shouted Ranma as he unleashed his chi in the form of a large energy blast. The blast slammed into the creature and totally disintegrated it. “Toast,” said Ranma dusting off his hands.
“You idiot Ranma,” said Akane as she came up behind him and smacked him on the back of the head.
“What was that for?” shouted Ranma as he rounded on Akane. “I just destroyed a monster that was going to kill a bunch of people.”
“Yeah, but you could have done it without destroying half the city,” she said as she pointed over Ranma’s shoulder.
“Huh,” said Ranma as he turned back around. He saw a large hole passing entirely through one building and well into the one behind it. Realizing that his energy blast was the cause of that hole, Ranma got a very worried look on his face. “Well, maybe that blast was a little stronger than necessary.”
“That’s an understatement.”
“Anyway,” said Ranma looking around for the owners of the buildings, “I think we should get out of here.”
“I think your right. Honestly Ranma, I can’t take you anywhere.”
Akane and Ranma began heading for the nearest bus stop when they were stopped by a shout. Ranma fearfully turned around thinking that it was one of the building’s owners. Instead he saw the girl in the short red skirt.
“Who are you?” she asked.
“Ranma Saotome,” he answered, and then, taking Akane’s hand, he rushed away from the area of destruction.
Sailor Mars just stared off in the direction Ranma had gone. He was so powerful, and that blast he threw. That couldn’t have been what I think it was. Suddenly she remembered that she hadn’t gone over that building alone. Spinning around she found Sailor Mercury looking around dazedly. “Are you all right Mercury?” she asked.
“I’ll be all right,” she answered looking around at the destruction. “What happened?”
“It was awesome” said Sailor Jupiter as she approached them. “After that monster sent you two flying, this really powerful martial arts guy came out of nowhere and totally thrashed it. Not only was he powerful, he was cute too.”
Suddenly Sailor Moon and Venus came running up. “Are you guys okay?” asked Moon.
“Yeah, no thanks to you,” said Mars. “Where were you two?”
“We saw that guy fighting the monster, and he seemed to be doing just fine alone so we decided not to interfere,” answered Moon in a hurt tone of voice.
“Who was that guy anyway?” asked Venus
“He said his name was Ranma Saotome,” replied Rei, “and get this; he’s the same guy I saw in my visions.”
“Really,” they all exclaimed at once.
“Yep, and I have a feeling that we’ll be seeing more of him too.”
“What was that blast he killed the monster with?” asked Moon.
“If I didn’t know better I would say that was a chi blast. But that’s not possible.”
“Why not?”
“Well, I use some chi in my fire readings, but it would take a martial arts master years and years to be able to simply make his chi visible. I don’t even want to imagine how long it would take to learn how to manipulate it enough to be able to use it as a weapon. As good as that guy was he was still only a teenager.”
“I think we should tell Luna and Artemis about this,” said Mercury. “Maybe they’ll know something.”
“And I’ll go tell Darien,” said Moon, who suddenly had little hearts in her eyes. “He’ll want to hear about this too.” Everyone just rolled their eyes.
“I think we should also see about tracking this guy down,” commented Jupiter, “he could be a powerful ally.”
“You just want to find him so you can ask him out,” said Mars.
“So, he could still be a powerful ally.”
“Jupiter’s right,” said Moon. “Lets all see what we can find out about this guy. We’ll all meet at the shrine the day after tomorrow to discuss what we’ve found.”
“Right!” all the Scouts replied in unison. Then they separated and headed for their homes.
