(1) This adorable photo is the actual cover of Volume 12 of Evangelion. Up until this point, ADVision had used the original Japanese laserdisc cover pictures with a different background as the American release cover art. When they reached Volume 12, instead of using this picture, they took a very strange screen capture of Rei standing in LCL. I had always wondered why that picture looked out of place, and now I know. Why did ADV do this? Well, according to Mr. Matt Greenfield, head of ADV, when they released volumes 11-13 in the US, Gainax hadn't yet chosen the images for their own LD and VHS covers. So, ADV had to make up their own. It's sad, though, isn't it? I believe that if this had been the cover picture in America, there would be a lot less debate about Anno's intentions for Shinji and Kaworu's relationship.
