The band "Lunacy" was formed by J and Inoran when they're in High School, who was actively participate within the Kanagawa area.

1989
January:
Rival band "Pinocchio" members Sugizo and Shinya joined "Lunacy."
May:
Finally, vocalist Ryuichi from the band "Slaughter" joined "Lunacy."
August:
9th:First demo tape "Lunacy" released, about 100 copies sold.
November:
8th:Second demo tape "Shade" was made. 1,000 copies sold within half a year.
December:
First GIG at Machida Play House, 150 people were there.

April:
Activities started at Ozaka area.
May:
29th:Third demo tape "Lastly" was made.
June:
10th:Second Live at Machida Play House, given out free demo tape "Lastly." All audience had to wear black clothes, 180 people were there.
July:
1 year anniversary live at "Machida Play House."
Aug:
Participated in the event "All Young Rockers" at Tokyo, which became their first live performance in hall.
Nov:
250 people showed up on their first live performance at the Meguro Live Station, ticket were sold out for the first time. Afterwards, they change the band name to "Luna Sea." They also joined the "Extasy Record" (an indies band label established by "X").
Dec:
Participated in the "New Age Attack '90 Final," many major record companies tried to get record deal with Luna Sea.

January:
10-11th: 2 Days Live at Meguro Live Station, tickets were sold out (500 people).
17th: Performed at the event "Moon Rock Revolution."
Febuary:
Participated in the event "Tokyo Guerilla Warfare" held by RockinF, members destroyed their instruments when performed.
11th: 330 people showed up at their first live at "Meguro Kagakan"
March:
Joined the "Extasy Record" tour "Nuclear Fusion Tour". Released a collaborated CD single with other bands, Luna Sea has 32 seconds of "Precious" in it. The single was free.
April:
21th: First Album "Luna Sea" released.
27th: First Album released-celebrated live at "Shinzuku Nissin Power Station", 800 tickets were sold out within 30 minutes.
May :
18th:2 years anniversary live at "Machida Play House."
June:
1st nation tour "Under The New Moon Tour Episode 1" started (at 8 different places).
July:
2nd nation tour "Under The New Moon Tour Episode vol.2" started.
6-7th: 2 days live at "Shinzuku Loft"
September:
First Hall Live at "Nippon Seinenkan" (1250 people). However, a serious storm strike that day, many fans weren't able to make it on time, so Luna Sea members decided to delay 1 hr later for fans to arrive. Afterwards, 16 different record companies were trying to get Luna Sea. Finally, they signed the deal with MCA Victor. They planned to record their major debut album right after the live, but they decided to warm up with one more nation tour instead.
October:
3rd Nation tour "Under The New Moon Tour Episode III--Additional-2 Days Unit 7 Areas" started (at 8 different places).
21th: All Luna Sea members had sang chorus for the band "Aion" 's their major debut album.
29th: Participated in the "Extasy Summit 1991". They performed at the "Nippon Budokan" for the first time.
December:
29-30th: "Nippon Seinenkan" 2 days Live. Tickets were sold out, 2,600 people in total. During the Live, they annouced their major debut plans with MCA Victor.
31th: Participated at the "All Night Metal Party" (a count down live) at "Meguro Kagakan" Eight different bands performed total (including Tokyo Yankees, MORRIE, Strawberry Fields, etc), Luna Sea was the 6th to go.

Start recording for their major debut album.
March:
Indies last tour at Tokyo (2260 people), Ozaka "W'OHOL" (700 people), Nagoya "Club Quatro" (500 people). It was later made into video "Image or Real".
13th: First time at TV studio "TV JACK '92".
May:
21th: Major Debut Album "Image" released!!! 9th place at Oricon Chart for first time. They held their 3rd year anniversary Live at "Machita Play House."
28th: "Luna Sea Concert Tour 1992 Image Or Real" started!! (at 7 places)
June:
Video Concerts at 5 places.
July
"Luna Sea Concert Tour 1992 Image Or Real Encore Tour" special!!
18th at Nagoya Diamond Hall.

26th at Tokyo (3,200 people)
22th: 1st video "Image or Real" released, first time at #1 at Oricon Chart.

27th: Tour "Luna Sea Concert Tour 1992 AFTER THE IMAGE" started. (16,000 people total)!

29-31th: Participate the "Extasy Summit 1992." While fans had to wear black clothes, all members dressed in white clothes!

Febuary:
Sugizo first solo number, J and Inoran teamed up with X's guitarist Hide to form "MxAxSxS" to participate at the combination album "Dance 2 Noise 004".
16th: "Luna Sea Concert Tour 1993 SEARCH FOR MY EDEN" started. (26,000 people total).
24th: First single "Believe" released! (19th place at Oricon Chart)
April:
1st: Official Fan Club "Slave" only GIG at Tokyo.
21st: Second album "Eden" released (5th place at Oricon Chart).
July:
2nd single "In My Dream (With Shiver)" released! (5th place at Oricon Chart)
August:
21st: "SEARCH FOR MY EDEN" Encore Tour started! (24,000 people total!)
30th: First time Live at "Nippon Budokan." The day was set at 26/27th originally, but they're cancelled because of hurricane.
December:
16th: second video "Sin after Sin" released. (2nd place at Oricon Chart)
18th: "Luna Sea Concert Tour 93-94 THE GARDEN OF SINNERS" started.
26th: Live "Moon And Sea" in Shinzuku Power Station.

Febuary:
12th: The final tour of "The Garden of Sinners Tour" was cancel because of snow storm. Ever since the hurricane at last year, Luna Sea was called "the band that summons natural disaster"!
March:
24th: Ryuichi sang duet with X-Japan's guitarist Hide's solo single "Scanner [Ai no Duet]."
July:
21th: After the big break, they released their 3rd single "Rosier" (3rd place at Oricon Chart).
30th: Participated at the event "L.S.B" with 2 other bands "Soft Ballet" and "Buck-Tick". When Luna Sea was performing, a storm strike again!
August:
11-12th: "Slave Only GIG" Live. At 12th, they celebrate J's birthday during the encore.
September:
21th: 4th Single "True Blue" released. (1st place at Oricon Chart!) Fans were shocked to see Ryuichi with short hair. They proved that even with "no tied-up" (meaning without any "help" from being the commercial song or TV drama theme song), they can still make to #1.
October:
26th: Album "Mother" was released! (2nd place at Oricon Chart)
December:
16-17th: 2 days live at "Nippon Budokan." Tickets were sold out within 15 minutes.
27th: An additional live was held at the same place, the tickets was sold out at once. (40,000 people).
31th: "Rosier" was awarded at the "Nippon Record Award."

Went to Ireland for shooting the promotion video of "Mother."
Febuary:
22th: 5th single "Mother" released. (2nd place at Oricon Chart)
March:
17th: "Luna Sea Concert Tour 1995 MOTHER OF LOVE, MOTHER OF HATE" started. The Live performance and stage settings were simple and plain, compare to their previous concerts.
May:
24th: Music Video Clips Collection "Eclipse 1" was released. (1st place at Oricon Chart)
June:
1st: Sugizo played violin solo in Media Youth's major debut album "Spirit."
21th: Sugizo played violin and guitar solo in the combination album "Flower In the Dark"
November:
13th: After a long break, they released their 6th single "Desire." (1st place at Oricon Chart).
December:
23th: First concert "Lunatic Tokyo" at Tokyo Dome. Tickets were sold out within 4 hour 51 minutes.

Feburary
21st: Ryuichi used his real name Kawamura Ryuichi and released his solo debut single "I Love You". This single hit the Oricon Chart No. 4.
March
J joined the unit "GAZA". Other members included DJ Krush, Anarchy members and an conceptual artist. They held tour in small live houses in various places.
April
14th: Ryuichi played as a leading character in TV Asahi drama "Futari".
23rd: Ryuichi's 2nd single "Glass" was released and hit the Oricon Chart No. 2.
25th: J performed as an fashion model for the "Jean Colonna Fall Collection".
May
21st: Video "REWIND" was released and hit the Oricon Chart No. 1.
June:
21st: Ryuichi's mini album "CRANBERRY SODA" was released and hit the Oricon Chart No. 1.
25th: J's debut solo single "BURN OUT" was released and hit the Oricon Chart No. 6.

Sugizo's photobook "A PRAYER vol.1 & 2" was released. J's "PYROMANIA TOUR" started. Ryuichi's concert tour started.
6th: Sugizo's producing event "ABSTRACT DAY" started.
7th, 9th, 10th: J's top secret GIG "IGNITE" was held.
9th: Sugizo's debut solo single "LUCIFER" released and hit the Oricon Chart No. 8.
10th: "Days" was resold with CD-ROM.
18th: Ryuichi's 3rd single "BEAT" was released and hit the Oricon Chart No. 4.
24th: J's debut solo album "PYROMANIA" was released and hit the Oricon Chart No. 9.
25th: Ryuichi's tour "Koudou" was held. The final scene was at Nihon Budoukan on Aug. 26 & 27.
August
1st: Sugizo's "ABSTRACT DAY" final scene was held at Akasaka Blitz.
6th: Sugizo and Shinya went to Hong Kong for promotion. Shinya played the drums at Tom Lee.
10th: J's "Pyromania Tour 1997" was held.
21st: Shinya's video "Melody" was released.
27th: Sugizo's remix single "REPLICANT LUCIFER" was released and hit the Oricon Chart No. 24.

10th: Sugizo's 2nd single "A PRAYER" was release and hit the Oricon Chart No. 7.
22nd: Ryuichi's concert extra was held at Yokohama Arena.
25th: Inoran's debut solo single "SOU" was released and hit the Oricon Chart No. 7.
26th: Shinya's debut solo single "Rakkasuru Taiyou" was released and hit the Oricon Chart No. 14.

15th: Ryuichi's 4th single "LOVE IS...." was released and hit the Oricon Chart No. 4. It was used as TV CM song of FamilyMart '97.
20th: Inoran's debut solo album "SOU" was released and hit the Oricon Chart No. 9.
22th: J's 2nd single "BUT YOU SAID I'M USELESS" was released and hit the Oricon Chart No. 31. Also on the same date, video "CRIME SCENE" was released and hit the Oricon Chart No. 4.
31st: Shinya's video "London Calling" was released.

2nd: Ryuichi's 1st full album "LOVE" was released.
6th: Sugizo's remix single "REPLICANT PRAYER" was released and hit the Oricon Chart No. 20.
19th: Sugizo's debut solo album "TRUTH?" was released and hit the Oricon Chart No. 12.
