The Palace of the Emperor
Tokyo is built around the palace of the emperor. Often places are referred to as being north or east of the palace. Around the palace are gardens, most of which are accesable to "commoners" like us.
In the photo above, we thought that the building in the distance was the actual palace. It turned out to be the building for the servants. The palace itself is hidden behind trees and walls.
