Erik

Erik

Erik is a hell of an engineer at Georgia Tech, hopefully soon to graduate if the new semester system doesn't make that impossible. He's into chemical engineering and the stock market, as well as Hopkido, Taikwondo, and other things that involve learning how to flatten bigger people.

Erik is another table-top gamer, but he's into AD&D, Star Wars, Paranoia, and other violent games. (The only one of those I will play is Paranoia, because a little death and destruction can help reduce stress levels. The other games make you try too seriously to survive.)

Yes, Erik may look like a proper gentleman with all the usual conservative viewpoints, but really he only has about half of those. The other half is made up of radical ultra-libertarian style thoughts which are really quite reasonable. Conversations between Erik and complete strangers tend to be odd, because his appearance leads to certain pre-conceived notions that are pretty much completely wrong. It's fun to watch ^_^.

Kevin

Kevin

Kevin is a high school friend of Erik's (actually, I met Kevin first). He went to CalTech for his computer science degree and is now making bunches of money out on the West Coast ::envy::. He is my expert on all things new and electronic. I suspect he's sick of hearing "Hi, it's me again, what did you say was a good pixel count on a digital camera?" Though maybe not, since that's about the only time he hears from me lately.

Kevin deserves the blame for having originally hooked me on Ranma, Dirty Pair, and BubbleGum Crisis, effectively making me an anime addict before I had a job to support it. He is a Goth and knows much more about the world of Generation X than I ever hope to, so if I don't sound all that out of touch, it's probably his influence. It sure doesn't come from anyone else on this page (not intended as an insult, but y'all've got to admit it). He also dragged me to my first Con, Lallapallooza, and generally spent lots of time clueing me in (how do you spell that made-up gerund?).

Oh, and the other thing I envy about him is that his hair is longer and darker than mine. No fair!

Shawna

My wonderfully insane Shawna-sempai (but not the Sempai), aka Lea, aka The Bloody One, does not like to have pictures taken of her. So I won't include any on this page. Otherwise she might come after me with her katana...

Shawna is a blast, and I love how her hair changes colors every few months (or it used to, before she had to get a job). She also speaks Japanese on my level, i.e., with bad grammer and a bizarre vocabulary. We also share an obsession with books- but very few people on these pages don't...

She is one awesome cook. A veggie-person like me, she makes some of the best desserts and veggie dishes I have ever tasted- except Granny's, of course, because it would be sacriledge if I said otherwise... ^_^. So she's the best cook I know in my generation, how about that. Maybe I'll teach her to fry things someday.

Shawna is another anime addict who just worked her way through Kenshin (whoohoo! Let the trauma begin!) and can babble with me forever on out latest discoveries in the make-believe world of Japanese cartoons. We have another topic of discussion as well, since we discovered that we have the same taste in guys- or un-taste in certain guys. Life with Shawna (and her real katana- no drooling please) is always omoshiroi.

Eeeka

Eeeka's real name is Erika, but there was already an Erika in Felding when she joined. Since she makes this delightful screeching sound when she's tickled, she was promptly nicknamed.

There is no one sillier or more likeable in the universe, I think, than Eeeka. She exudes happiness. Everything she does seems to turn into warm fuzzies. She is another sempai of mine; she and Shawna are good friends who were at school about the same time. She is also another gamer, SciFi fan, and artist. Oh yes, and she's a good friend of Miko-dono's; they were roommates a couple of years ago. They seem very different, but they're both such nice people, it's no wonder they get along so well.

Eeeka and Tim are getting married next August. It is just so adorable. They are heading out to Colorado for the wedding. Everyone wish them luck, ne? ::grin::

Tim

Tim

Tim is Eeeka's fiancee. He is a very good artist, and he does amazing things with charcoal and pastels and lots of other stuff like that. Lots of my friends are artists, but none of them are quite like Tim. I think it's the confidence with which he races across the paper that really impresses me.

He also reads and games quite a bit. His tastes are possibly even more eclectic than mine (we'll have to compare bookshelves...). He was writing a LARP based on Narnia, if that tells you anything. He says: "The Narnia game is on hold for a while. In the meantime, Erika & I are working on (or will be again after the wedding) a larp set in a caravanserai on the Silk Road, c. 1300." Sounds interesting, ne?

He is not quite as wildly insane as some other people I know, but his ideas are definitely unusual enough to be interesting. I really recommend checking out his homepage.

Tim has also joined the anime bandwagon. I think it's Shawna's fault. He says: "I get to blame a lot of people for the anime--Shawna, Mimi, Dan & Mike. Not sure if I'd be into it so much without all those bad influences. ;-)" Ah, it's really cute to watch other people go through the suspense after episode 28 of RK... ^_^.
