Dorothy
This is Dorothy and her puppy Miller. She (Dorothy, not Miller) was my source of sanity and witty comments while I was in hell, er, high school. She is a master of sarcasm and taught me everything I know about how to keep a straight face. Ascerbic and gentle, confident with a tendency to worry, she's a great contrast in characteristics, but she always makes perfect sense to me.
She loves animals and is still winning ribbons at horse shows. She helped get me into debate, so she speaks too fast, and she'll be using that talent in grad school in agricultural economics (all those presentations...). She's also the most accomplished non-genre writer that I've ever had the good fortune to be friends with. That probably is connected to the fact that she is the only human being I know who got all the way through Anna Karenena while still in high school.
Lately, she has become my spell-checker for this webpage. Bina has competition ^_^.
Brandon
Brandon was my other sanity check in High School. Isn't he so adorable? He says he doesn't like this picture, but I think it's cute, so I win ^_^
The problem with Brandon is that he's too easy to talk to. You can look up at 3 am and realize you're still on the phone- not a good thing on a school night. Great for laughs, he's always ready to listen to anyone's problems, even when he has his own to deal with.
I don't know everything that's going on in his life right now (that's the price you pay, going to different schools), but he was very big into the Drama club in school and he did a nice job in several roles I don't remember because that was years ago ^_^; (whoops, does anyone else remember? Or know what his hobbies are now? Besides winning Trivial Pursuit and treating Cammy like a waitress, that is?)
Angie (far left) debated with me in High School. She and I were partners once, I think, but not often. We were part of a three person gaggle of girls that probably drove everyone else nuts, but it was lots of fun. She's now at Georgia doing sports stuff. She was always more athletic than I am, and she did a lot of managing in High School.
Mohna
Mohna (center) was also a debator. She and I debated together once, at the ill-fated Calhoun tournament. She seems to know herself very well, and she rarely says anything unpleasant about anyone. She's going into economics at Emory University, and she'll probably be head of the Federal Reserve someday. At least, I hope so- it's nice to have friends in high places. I love her wardrobe- she wears navy, green, black, kaki, maroon, and occasionally white. That's it. It's easy to pick out what she likes. Mohna says "my roommates insist that the navy in my wardrobe has been replaced by the vibrant color grey!"
And she has the funniest laugh. And she has a great sense of humor. You should see her and Dorothy get going... ^_^
Jennie
Jennie (right) worked with me this summer at the Courier-Herald as an intern. I only remembered her vaguely from when we were kids, but she's a neat person who says what she means, albeit a little loudly ^_^. She's a hard worker and an upbeat person and she doesn't stay down when life kicks her. I'm really glad we got to work together.
