Insane people have more fun.
On the next few pages are some of my friends of whom I have pictures (mostly). Due to the size of the files and the complaints of people with modems, I have broken this page into several pieces.

More of my friends can be found on the Felding Medieval Society Page. My not-quite-human pals can be found in the Den or in the Stuffy Conspiracy.
Many (if not all) of the pictures that randomly appear on this page contain inside jokes. I will now attempt the impossible task of explaining them. Here goes:
- "Who us?" is a picture of Mimi and Eeeka at the Coronation of the King and Queen of the East Kingdom in the Fall of 1999 (it's an SCA thing, don't worry if you don't get it). There was a place on the third floor where a hallway had been sectioned off by sheets, supposedly to allow the men to change into garb. The sheets came down every 5 minutes. We tried everything, including duct tape. There's really no reason to think that these two had anything to do with it, it's just that Eeeka is particularly good at appearing innocent when she wants to.
- "This isn't rocket science" is a picture of people who will remain nameless (except for Kristin) to spare their pride and my life ^_^; We were learning to ski. If it had been rocket science, we could have done it, no problem. But skiing is harder. I feel constrained to point out that the only reason I was standing to take the picture is that Helen, who was not on skis, was holding me up under the arms. When she let go, I went flying down the hill and almost broke my neck. The camera was fine, of course. The bracketed quote is from "The Man in the Iron Mask", Leonardo DeCaprio version. Our attempt to see this movie is another story entirely. It went better than the skiing- just barely.
- "Hands Up!" (taken by Mimi) contains me, Sarah, and many hapless balloons on the night of Bina's graduation party. Sarah was attacking me because she had just lost a duel with Bina. "Hands up and against the wall!" is a favorite quote of Sarah's sister. Sarah and I are both famous for purchasing and consuming more chocolate than almost anyone else. Except Bina. Nobody could beat Bina on the consuming part. It's a very simple relationship. Sarah and I buy food, Bina comes into our room, Sarah and I talk, Bina eats. Everyone is happy, I think ^_^;
- "Anta Baka?" is the second screen saver I ever had, and the first pic I put up here. The phrase means "Are you stupid?" or "Are you an idiot?" It is a favorite quote of an anime girl named Asuka from Evangelion. She habitually uses it toward Shinji, a wimp of a boy who lets her beat on him. Sometimes I sympathize, given who I live with ^_^. (Joudan da yo! Joudan! Korosanai de kudasai! Eeep!!!)
- "What is Koi?" is another Japanese joke. "Koi" means both love and carp. Carp are kind of like goldfish (hey- they are! It's not just because I'm baka, okay?). So I call goldfish crackers "koi". Bina has a special relationship with our goldfish, just as she has with our chocolate- she eats them. Most pictures of her indoors contain a box of goldfish. We're even thinking about starting a weekly game of "find the goldfish box in this picture of Bina" on this site, assuming she doesn't find me after the last joke.... (please tell me you already know the question "what is the sound of one hand clapping?" so I don't have to explain that, too)
- "Just take it!" was the fifth or sixth take of Mimi and Bina standing in front of the apple tree. Mimi thinks most pictures of her turn out bad. Bina has no ability to stand still or to wait. The camera takes 5 or 6 seconds to recover between shots. You can probably figure it out from there....
- "Hey, Dad! Look what I learned in College" is from our trip to the Cape. Bina and Mimi are showing the greenies- Helen and Sarah- how to skip stones. It's an important life skill. I think it's probably the only thing they learned this semester that will stick with them for the next 15 years. Hey- they pay us to learn, don't they? Or we pay to learn.... I've never quite figured out how it works. I just hope Dad's getting his money's worth.
A Noiseless Patient Spider
A noiseless patient spider,
I marked whereon a little promonitory it stood isolated,
Marked how to explore the vacant vast surrounding;
It launch'd forth filament, filament, filament out of itself,
Ever unreeling them, Ever tirelessly speeding them.
And you, O my soul, where you stand,
Surrounded, detached, in measureless oceans of space;
Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing, seeking the spheres to connect them;
Till the bridge you will need be form'd, till the ductile anchor hold,
Till the gossamer thread you fling catch somewhere, O my soul.
