"Charmander's Everlasting Flame"

I woke up, once again, to the weird feeling of materializing out of my pokéball. "Charmander char! Charmander," I grumped. Of course, JJ, my trainer, thought I was just excited about the battle.Okay, maybe I should back up just a little bit. I'm a Charmander, and I've belonged to JJ for about 3 months. He's a pretty decent guy, but I was having a nice dream! I turned to face my opponent. A Rattata. Couldn't JJ have called out Nidoran? Or Spearow? I sighed. "Charmander, flamethrower attack NOW!" I blew a small jet of flame at the Rattata, and it fainted. I couldn't believe the other trainer even bothered to try and raise that puny rat. "Good job, Charmander!" "Mander char," I answered. Since I had done such a good job barbequeing that Rattata, JJ decided to let me stay out of my pokéball. Like I said, he can be a pretty nice guy. I asked him if Bulbasaur could come out too."Charmander char, mander char char mander?" Now that his excitement about winning the battle was lessened, he actually paid attention to what I was saying. "Sure Bulbasaur can come out too. Squirtle deserves to be let out as well..." It ended up with all 6 of his pokémon sitting out with me. There was Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Spearow, Nidoran(male), Caterpie and of course, me. We were in the middle of Viridian Forest, and there was plenty to explore. We all ran off in different directions at once. "Char char!" "Bulbasaur!" "Nido!" "Spear!" "Pie!" "Squirt squirtle!" was kind of the noise that we made put together, yelling that we wouldn't run away. I saw an apple tree, and decided to take a climb. I hoisted myself up from branch to branch, and finally found a comfy place where I could sit and eat. I munched on my apple, and watched Nidoran beat up a Weedle. He shouldn't pick fights like that, but he won't listen when we tell him that. When I finished my apple, I decided to bring one or two for Squirtle. All the others could climb trees like me, and Spearow ate worms. Squirtle is afraid of heights, though, so I brought him some lunch. "Squirtle squirt squirt," he thanked me."Mander char char" (No problem, buddy) I replied. He ate near a stream, and I sat beside him. Then, once he was done, he suddenly tapped me on the arm and said,"Squirtle squirt!" (You're it!) I ran after Squirtle, but he's pretty fast. So I snuck up behind Bulbasaur, tapped him on the bulb, and said, "Mander char!" (You're it now!) That might have been a mistake because of his vines, but he couldn't touch me back. Game rules. So I watched him tag Nidoran, who went and tagged Squirtle. Squirtle saw me and started running. I laughed, and started running too. I was looking behind me to see if he was gaining (which he was, because he's faster than me), when I saw his expression change from laughing to horror. He stopped dead in his tracks as I... WHAT? I wasn't running on the grass anymore, I was... I looked down. OVER THE RIVER! I thought, "Oh no. I'm gonna die. I'M GONNA DIE!" I splashed heavily into the cold river. After flailing around for a good 5 minutes, I managed to clamber onto the bank. What?... I was still alive! I looked over mu shoulder to see my tail flame burning brightly, as though nothing had happened. "Weird," I thought to myself, as I walked back to JJ, who was calling us. As I walked, I saw Squirtle with tears in his eyes telling JJ what he thought had happened. I guess he ran and tried to get help when he saw me fall in, but he didn't find me when he came back because I had washed downstream. I saw a tear in JJ's eye as he hugged his other pokémon close. That's so sweet. He cried for me. I walked out of the bushes. He didn't seem to notice me until I was about 5 feet from him. He looked up with a questioning look. "Charmander?" he whispered. Then his eyes lit up as he yelled "Charmander!" and ran towards me. He picked me up and hugged me. Then he asked how I was still alive. "Charmander char char," (I don't know) I confessed. But he was too happy to really care. Then he had a thought. "I'm going to take you to the pokémon center in Pewter as soon as I can. Nurse Joy should be able to figure out what happened." So off we went to Pewter City.

Chapter 2 of "Charmander's Everlasting Flame"

We walked on towards Pewter City. At least, we hoped we were walking towards Pewter City. With all of this forest stretching way too far in every direction, we were really quite lost. As we walked aimlessly onward, JJ grew more and more disappointed. "Charmander mander char," I told him. "Yes, we will probably get there soon, Charmander." He smiled encouragingly. "But then again, we might not..." and he sank back into his own thoughts again. Then I had an idea. I felt really stupid, because I hadn't thought of it before. "Charmander! Char mander char char!" I cried. "Of course! You're so smart, Charmander!" JJ replied. He quickly took one of the pokéballs off of his belt, and threw it on the ground. "Spearow? Spear?" "Spearow, I need you to fly above the treetops and find Pewter City," JJ directed. "Then come back down and point out the direction we need to go." Spearow nodded, then flew almost straight up through the trees. JJ was beaming now. Actually, so was I. Our food supply was getting low, and I was looking forward to a night in a cozy, warm bed. Actually, I didn't get to sleep on the bed because I'd probably light it on fire with my tail, but I was happy anyway. Anything, it seemed to me, was better than this forest with its cold dirt and far too many trees. Spearow fluttered back down from the trees, which brought me out of my daydream, and started to bird-walk along a path that led off to the side. He looked up at JJ, who smiled and said, "Thanks, Spearow. I owe you one," and brought him back inside his pokéball. We started walking again, and this time we knew where we were going. We had walked for about 30 minutes when another trainer came into view. JJ said, "Great! There's another trainer! That must mean we're getting close!" I smiled. I could smell the aroma of the city already. A bit harsh, but welcome after the same musty old smells day after day. We got closer, and the other trainer noticed us and started walking purposely towards us. When we were within hearing range, he said quietly, "I challenge you to a battle." Simple as that. I saw JJ's eyes light up and thought, "Uh oh. Here we go again." "I accept that challenge," JJ replied excitedly. "3 pokémon each sound OK to you?" "Sure," said the other boy. "I choose Growlithe." "Ha, I choose Squirtle,"JJ practically yelled. I wish he wouldn't yell so loudly, it hurts my ears. "Squirtle, bubblebeam now!" Squirtle replied, "Squirtle squirt" (You're going down!) and fired, well, a beam of bubbles at the Growlithe. I could see the individual bubbles hit the Growlithe, and he got weaker with each one. "Growl..." he faltered, then hit the ground, out cold. "You're good, I can see that. Poliwag, GO!" I was startled. This was the boy who had been standing there so quietly just a minute before? "Squirtle return! Bulbasaur, I choose you!" "Bulbasaur!" (I'm not gonna lose to you, tadpole) "Poliwag, hypnosis now!" "Wag!" Poliwag's spiral started to spin. It was so nice, so soothing... WAIT! I wasn't supposed to be falling asleep! I shook my head to clear it. I looked over and saw Bulbasaur doing the same thing. "All right! Shake it off, Bulbasaur! Vine whip, NOW!" I watched the Poliwag get whipped by Bulbasaur's vines. "Bulbasaur, leech seed!" The leech seed hit the Poliwag, and he promptly fell over, fainted. "Charmander, I choose you!" I stepped into the makeshift ring. I was nervous, let me tell you. This Nidorino was twice as tall as me, and three times as heavy! "Nidorino, poison sting!" There was no way I was having that huge horn stuck in me! I managed to dodge the attack, and he hit a tree. "Charmander, fire spin!" I managed to get a critical hit, but he still looked pretty strong. Now unstuck, he whirled around. "Nidorino, fury attack!" I dodged most of it, but I was hit twice. They were glancing blows, but they spun me around and made me disoriented. I ended up falling flat on my butt, mildly nauseous. I heard a voice say, "Nidorino! Fury Swipes that Charmander!" Before I could react, I was suddenly getting hit again and again by Nidorino. Well, at least the pain brought me back to my senses."Nidorino, finish it off with a Body Slam!" Now, I was NOT going to become a pancake! I dodged, and Nidorino found himself in an intimate relationship with the ground I had been sitting on. "Nido...RINO!"(That's IT!) He launched himself at me again. I turned around to see Nidorino hurtling towards me, with his feet tucked back and head pointed at me."CHARMANDER!" (AAAAAAHHHH!) I yelled. JJ was suddenly in front of me, trying to block me from Nidorino's attack. Nidorino hit JJ sending him flying into a tree. He moaned, tried to stand up, and fell back down. I turned around, and saw Nidorino with a smug look on his face. That made me indescribably ticked off. "CHARMANDER CHAR CHAR MANDER CHAR!" (I can't believe you hit JJ! How could you, you oversized excuse for a porcupine!) I was so angry! I took a deep breath, and expressed my fury with a move I had just taught myself... fire blast! The toasted Nidorino looked at me in awe, saw that I was charging up for another one and jumped back into his pokéball. "Well, you have certainly proven yourself to be an excellent fighter, and you have also proven that you love your trainer very much." The trainer was talking to me. "Since you love him, as I'm sure all his other pokémon do, I will take you all to Pewter City. That is where you're headed?" I nodded. He sent out a Snorlax who lumbered over to JJ, picked him up and followed the path that we had been taking earlier. So, we are still on our way to Pewter, but we're much closer then we were last time. We also made a new friend, who I hope will come with us on our journey.

"Ash Catches Mew"

"Ash, are we lost AGAIN?" asked Misty. She was annoyed with Ash because he had gotten them all lost (again). "Of course we aren't lost! We're, uhh..." Ash stalled for time. "Right here!" He pointed to a random spot on his map. ~If only Misty wasn't so contrary, she could be a great friend,~ Ash thought. ~But she argues with me every chance she gets!~ Misty sighed. "Ash, this doesn't look much like Saffron to me." ~If only he weren't so stubborn,~ thought Misty. ~He would be really nice.~ "Face it Ash, we're lost." That was brock, pointing out the obvious. "We aren't lost, we're... in a forest!" Ash was trying to make the best of the situation. "Lost in a forest," Brock pointed out, dampening Ash's spirits. Speaking of which, Ash felt something touch his head. He looked up, and was hit in the eye by a raindrop. "Oh great, it's starting to rain! Let's get inside before it really starts to pour," said Ash. "Chaa," said Pikachu, which pretty much said it all. "Um, Ash? How are we going to get inside when we don't know of an inside anywhere near here?" Brock asked. "I don't know, but let's go somewhere before we all get soaked!" As the skies poened up and poured, Ash, Pikachu, Brock and Misty all started running down the winding path towards what they hoped was a city. As they were running, Pikachu heard a faint noise. It sounded like a pokémon calling for help. Pikachu grabbed Ash's leg and tried to get his attention. When all she got was a rather bumpy ride, she thundershocked him to make him pay attention. "Pika CHUUUUUUU!" "Okay Pikachu, what do you want?" Ash asked weakly. "Pikapi chu pika ka chaa," said Pikachu gesturing and pointing. Ash snapped back into reality. "There's a pokémon over there who needs help? Let's go!" Ash started running back, following Pikachu. "Hey Ash, where are you going?" shouted Misty and Brock. "To help an injured pokémon!" he answered. "We'd better go help him," sighed Misty, as the two of them started running. Pikachu suddenly stopped and ran into a clump of bushes. "Huh?" asked Ash. "Oh well, I'll follow you." Ash turned and fought his way through the bushes. "Wait Ash!" yelled Brock, as he and Misty dove into the bushes. *********Who's That Pokémon?*********** **********It's Pikachu! "Pikachu." (Don't ask me why)********** Ash finally made his way through the brambles, and gasped. A pokémon was lying on the ground, not moving. It was small, and a shade of pink that was almost white. It almost looked like a wet cotton puff, only bigger. Ash pointed Dexter at it. "Mew. This pokémon is so rare that it is said to be a mirage by many experts. Only a few people have seen it worldwide." "Wow... a mew! I'm gonna catch it!" Ash prepared to throw a pokéball at the Mew, but was stopped by Pikachu. "Pikapi pika kachu pikapi!"(WAIT! Can't you see she's injured? It's not fair to take advantage like that!) "Yeah, I guess you're right Pikachu. It does look pretty badly hurt," Ash sighed. Suddenly Pikachu got a strange look on her face, like she was listening to something that none of the others could hear. "Huh? What is it, Pikachu?" "Pikapi pikachu chu pika. Kachu pika chu pika pika. Pi chu pikapi chupika!" Pikachu gestured, ran around, and did a pretty good impression of Team Rocket. "What?? Team Rocket hurt this Mew? Ohhh, when I get my hands on them, I'll..." Suddenly, a thought occurred to Ash. "Hey, how come you know all this stuff?" "Pikachu kapika chaaa," (Mew told me inside my head) replied Pikachu. "So mew is a psychic pokémon? Cool!" "Ash, in case you've forgotten, the rain is pouring down in buckets, we should get to a pokémon center." That was Misty, bringing Ash back into their world. "Right. Let's go!" Ash picked up a pokéball, and yelled, "Pokéball, GO!" There was a red flash as Mew was sent inside the pokéball. The ball shook violently, then Mew appeared again, still unconscious. "Wow," Ash marvelled. It must be really strong to be able to break out of a pokéball when it's unconscious." Dexter piped up from Ash's pocket. "Mew is too strong for even a Masterball, the strongest type of pokéball, to hold. It is simply too powerful." "Well, I guess we'll have to carry it like we did with Charmander," Ash said. He picked Mew up, and they started running in the same direction that they had been going before. ********************15 minutes later******************** "What have you done to this poor pokémon? You should never have let it get into this condition," scolded Nurse Joy. "Poisoned and paralyzed? You should know better!" "But, we didn't do it! It was Team Rocket!" Ash, Misty and Brock said in unison. Nurse Joy's expression softened. "I see. In that case, it was very kind of you to bring it here out of the rain. It should be fully healed by morning." "Th-thanks a lot, Joy," Brock stammered, blushing. ~Wow, she's even cuter than the other Joys!~ "We-we'll be getting to bed now." "Good-night, everybody. Sweet dreams," said Nurse Joy as she turned off the light. ********************The next morning******************** "Hey guys! Wake up!" shouted Ash. "Huh? wha?" commented Misty, as she fell into a heap on the floor. "Mew is all better and she wants to talk to you!" "Pikachu pika!" added Pikachu. Brock said much the same thing as Misty (But withiut falling on the floor) and ran after Ash. "HEY! Wait for ME!" shouted Misty as she sprang to her feet and ran after them. In the lobby of the pokémon canter, Mew was floating in a pink bubble about 3 feet off of the ground. She smiled at the foursome, then started to speak. It wasn't like normal speech, because it was inside their heads. ~Thank you all for helping me out in the forest. You are all very kind and generous. I feel the need to give you a gift of some sort as a way of saying thank you.~ Ash felt a strange sensation, then realized that Mew was sorting through his thoughts and memories. ~I see that you are very kind hearted, Ash. As my gift to you, I will travel with you on your journeys. Here is a Megaball, the only pokéball that will hold me.~ A pinkish pokéball appeared in Ash's hands. Mew floated to the ground and her bubble disappeared. "OK then, Megaball, GO!" Mew turned to pink energy and was sucked inside without a struggle. "Thank you," Ash whispered as he put the Megaball on his belt and walked outside.
